View 2 RepliesCan someone tell me the simplest way to add a rollover sound to a standard button in flash ? I was trying to get a small chirp sound to play on rollover of a button. Im using the standard flash button creation hierarchy. Once the fourstages of the button are set. I created a layer above it called sounds then added a blankkeyframe to the over position and dragged the chirp mp3 file onto the stage over the button. Then when i run the webpage the sound effect doesnt play a expected. I tried playing with the dropdownlist of property settings too such as Sound : and theres a dropdown list. I chose chirp.mp3 there but still no luck. Tried some other sync settings too but not able to make this work.
View 1 Repliesfor a game I'm working on, I want to make a 'digital display', like a digital clock for example. Every character exists of 7 lines which are either on or off. This picture will demonstrate what I mean.
Currently, I've got a DigitalDisplay class that extends Sprite, which holds a couple of instances of the Digit class that extends Sprite, which in turn holds 7 instances of the DigitLine class, which extends Shape, in which I draw one such line with the drawing API. This would mean that one DigitalDisplay holds 8 Sprite, which all hold 7 Shapes, so that's 8 Sprites and 56 Shapes. This is a bit overkill I think.
Thing is, I want control over every 'DigitLine'. During transition, when the text on the display changes, I want every lines to go on and off in a random pattern, slowly forming the new text. Would this be possible with another less extensive solution? The only thing I could think of was this:
Instead of every Digit object I'd have an Array, which instead of filled with DigitLine objects is filled with Arrays. However, then I'd only have 1 graphics object, which mean I'd need to clear() it every time something changes.
I am trying to do a calculation which will eventually (hopefully) yield the total length of time it will take to download a certain size file over different broadband speeds.
//amount_total is the total file size (GB)
//multiplied by 1024 to give me total megabytes
mb = Number (amount_total*1024)
//15 is time (s) to download 1MB
[code]....
So, I am left with a total time of eg: 4.5 hours.i would like a standard number I can use across my movie to convert 4.5 hours to 4hrs 30, or 4.30 for simplicity.If I have 0.5 hours as a total, it would be much easier for the user to read it .30 hours.
I have some sounds in my library. They are all exported and have been given class names like C, D, E etc. I have another class that represents a button. This class stores a reference to one of the Sound in my library. I set the type for this variable to Sound. When I try to set it I get the error: cannot convert C$ to flash.media.Sound I try as Sound, for example key.note = note_array[p] as Sound; The value ends up as null.

View 4 Repliesim wanting to create a simple feature in my flash ap that allows a user to select if they want voice overs played or the standard beep beep (fashy sounds) i have three buttons (onBtn, offBtn and rollMe). does anyone know how i could do somting like... if onBtn is selected then.. on rollover 'rollMe' mySound1.start(); else if offBtn is selected then... on rollover 'rollMe' mySound2.start();
View 6 RepliesI am trying to develop a module for voice recognition that could be integrated with a pre-existing flash website. I don't need the full speech recognition functionality, but a limited set of it (only specific commands like next, go etc). I looked at some functionality available like speechapi.I did try to do a bit of flash training by myself since i got into this project. So anyway, if I have to go ahead, will I have to do this in Actionscript?
View 1 RepliesI have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?
View 3 RepliesI'm developing a web user interface to enter some information that is not very complex but needs to be loaded in real time. I think that the application could make use of speech recognition to facilitate the task.
Te core of the interface is being built with Javascript and jQuery, but can easily include a flash or silverlight component. I believe thatīs probably the way to go. I don't need to recognize everything that the user says, but only a few prerecorded commands. Also, I don't want the user to click on a button to specify the begining and the end of the spoken command. It should be detected live.
Is there anything that does this? I would be grateful if anyone tells me about a complete solution, free or commercial, as well as any advice on capturing a sound stream from the mic and process it with flash or sliverlight.
How to implement Online Speech Recognition through a Web Browser Interface.
Is it possible to implement this without using any Streaming Server (completely browser-based application)? Without building any own plug-ins, is it possible to implement Speech Recognition using Flash ...
can some guide me that how i can make speech recognition software in flash, for e.g if i speech letter "A" than letter A appear on page and start animated, this is my project i need help.

View 1 RepliesI have made so many Flash presentations, but every time i stuck on one part. I need to get a professional vocal audio added to my presentation. So that when a slide is running its explanation can be done vocally.
I have seen this on a website Umbraco, here in the flash presentation on the very first page, someone is speaking about the content (This voice i have heard so many times on different presentations),Is that a computer generated voice or a software made voice or just someone speaking himself and recorded.
Does the digital publication (emag) created using Indesign and flash require any action script knowledge in order to produce the search, zoom and table of contents features seen in most online digital magazine? Or is there a basic "template" that is produced in which you can modify?
View 1 RepliesI'd like to make an online comic of "swfs" where each swf file is an image with simple animations, and a "next" button.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to see if I can set up a text to speech feature in Flash. I found this post, which details how to integrate Google's text to speech functionality with Flash. Seems pretty good, but the post seems to be written for uber-genius AS3 programmers...well not really, but at least those who already know how to stitch these pieces together.
I know a bit about using classes and packages, but can't seem to figure out how all the chunks of code in his post would be stitched together.
Any chance anyone can check this out, and give me a basic rundown of how all these pieces would go together?? So I can try implementing this myself...

Is it possible to create text to speech application in flash without any back end?
View 1 RepliesPeople have figured out how to use the Google Speech API (Speech-To-Text). I'm trying to get it working with Flash Speex codec, and I just can't figure it out. I've tried inserting frame size byte before each 160 bytes (as some sources say), but this doesn't work. So I post a challenge to somehow translate the flash speex bytes for Google Speech API to understand. Here is basic flex code:

View 3 RepliesI am currently using Digital Rapids StreamZ to encode video for Flash media Server. The guys who look after the equipment have streamed to flash media server before using RTMP addresses without any problems but ustream doesn't seem to work.
Would there be any reason why the encoded signal would not get through or display on ustream? The StreamZ software is not showing any problems or error messages so we are assuming the encoded feed is being sent correctly but Ustream doesn't detect that there is a flash media stream available for that channel.
My client will soon be wanting videos to be played on television screens in their stores.I'm pretty good at flash, and can knock up good looking videos no problem. However, how well does flash convert to a movie file (swf ---> mpeg etc)?
View 3 RepliesI have all the files that created the SWF (this is something that was developed on my computer, not an SWF I took off the internet).
View 1 Replieshow to easily convert a .SWF file to HTML5? I tried SWIFFy and that doesn't work.
I just downloaded adobe Wallaby and it requires a FLA file. That makes sense, but I don't know how to make the SWF file a FLA one so that I can see if Wallaby will in fact convert it.
