ActionScript 2.0 :: Sound Switching - Allows A User To Select If They Want Voice Overs Played Or The Standard Beep Beep (fashy Sounds)
Apr 4, 2008
im wanting to create a simple feature in my flash ap that allows a user to select if they want voice overs played or the standard beep beep (fashy sounds) i have three buttons (onBtn, offBtn and rollMe). does anyone know how i could do somting like... if onBtn is selected then.. on rollover 'rollMe' mySound1.start(); else if offBtn is selected then... on rollover 'rollMe' mySound2.start();
Is there a way for flash/actionscript to create frequency and duration (BASIC style?) BEEPSI'm still using CS3, I read somewhere that flash 10 has some functions for manipulating the pitch of a wave file, but it surprises me that there isn't simpler way to make a speaker sound...
I have an old as2 animation project with multiple voice overs that I am trying to update to AS3. One issue I have run into is playing voice overs where the animation stops until the voice over is done playing and then it advances to the next frame and another voice over plays. I created a new sound object, sound channel and so on for my first sound. If I place the same code on the next corresponding frame like I did is AS2, I get a bunch of errors, mostly duplicate function errors. I suppose I could change the variable names if I had just a few voice overs but I have several hundred. This creates a problem as you can see. All the googling I have done has not resulted in any useful information. So my question is - how do I do this? I put my old AS2 code in the comments tags.
Code: Select all/*_root.stop(); // Load voice VSound = new Sound(Voice1_mc);
I'm a bit new to AS2 but not too new at all, I have managed to play sounds in various forms but the way I tend to use and am actually using is as follows. I attach the sounds to Sound objects in the moment of loading and play them with "start" in the moment they are needed, not anything too complicated as you can see. The problem is I have noticed that within the author environment or once they are exported, the swf play the sounds ok, but once I upload to a server in the internet (not a portal, just plain html loading the swf) the sounds seems to delay a bit, as this project is a game it breaks a bit the effect when bells are ringed after you scored points.
I followed the mp3player tutorial (part 3) from [URL] and got it working fine. Only problem is that the setVolume I'm trying to use with my music is affecting all my other sounds - button sounds and background sound. I'm aware of the createEmptyMovieClip/attachSound approach and got it working on my other sounds. But Lee's tutorial-mp3player is using a slight different technique, and so my normal approach doesn't quite work.
I haven't been using Flash long enough to know if I'm using Flash 8 Actionscript or Flash MX 2004 Actionscript, etc. I don't really know the difference or where to look so an explanation about that would also be helpful.I do know I'm using Actionscript 2, in CS4.Basically I'm needing help switching between sounds based on visibility of other items.I've got 15 buttons; buttons 1 to 5 making one of objects 1 to 5 visible and turning the others off, and buttons 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 doing the same for items 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 respectively.I'm trying to make three sounds play when a point on the timeline is met. Sound 1 is dependant on which of object 1 to 5 is visible, etc.Everything I've tried has either not worked or ended up with sounds overlapping/playing oddly. I can't find anything on the internet specific enough to help, so I thought I'd ask specifically. As I've said, I'm relatively new to Actionscript.
I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.
I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)
I want to know if my flash header can support the following additional functionality/changes:
1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?
2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.
3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.
4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?
I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. However, I want to find out if my flash header will even work this way before I invest the time learning it just for these changes. I know it will be pretty deep with script code, but I'm hoping I could find base code already available for these features. Not sure I can afford help now because of being laid off and two different scammers taking advantage of me. So I'm going to try to do myself and see if there is any suggestions/support on here that can help. I have Flash CS4.

Is it possible to record the end user by mic? And what kid of actions can I do with the recording? Can I get for example the volume of the sound (decibels) in real time? Can I save the record on a file?
I'm going to create a new website where i've a main swf that loads all the other that are called by the menu. I'm going to use swfaddress for deeplinkng, but my question is: when the user click on one menu voice the main swf load an external swf. now, when i click on another swf i must make a out-transition of the current loaded how can i detect in the external swf that the user click another menu voice? Or i must do the out-transition in the main swf?
Can someone tell me the simplest way to add a rollover sound to a standard button in flash ? I was trying to get a small chirp sound to play on rollover of a button. Im using the standard flash button creation hierarchy. Once the fourstages of the button are set. I created a layer above it called sounds then added a blankkeyframe to the over position and dragged the chirp mp3 file onto the stage over the button. Then when i run the webpage the sound effect doesnt play a expected. I tried playing with the dropdownlist of property settings too such as Sound : and theres a dropdown list. I chose chirp.mp3 there but still no luck. Tried some other sync settings too but not able to make this work.
I am using FLASH CS3.I have gone through many posts, seems to be an issue with many people.Still haven't come across a fix.Website made in FLASH. Flash movie loads and sound works great!I have a button with 'StopAllSounds' action script.[code]When I go back to main page... sound starts up again. Is there a way I can stop all sound regardless of where the visitor goes on the website?
I've read many solutions on the board about displaying correctly your Flash emmbed site in way to fit the browser screen of your visitors. I've tryied also many suggestions, and I can't get it right. I need to have my work look like this site [URL] The main flash movie used is 1200 x 626. I've copied the index.html and adjust for [URL] The main flash movie used is 1200 x 600. As you can see, the result is different, the site doesn't fits the screen, and that's what is getting me crazy,
I have to play a sound file and show the progress of the sound file being played. I am using import flash.media.Sound; import flash.media.SoundChannel; But the PROGRESS event gives theprogress of loading of file. I want to know of much of the song has been played and how much more is left.
We are building a live RTMFP voice chat application with Cumulus. While the basic voice transfer works pretty easy using NetStreams, we have one big problem:There does not seem to be a way to manipulate the microphone data that the NetStream sends, and also not a way to manipulate the data the listening NetStream receives before it is played. However, this is exactly what we need. We do not want to transfer the normal microphone recorded audio, but first pitch it, then send it, then play it. Or first send it, then pitch it, then play it. But it seems that the whole audio recording, speex encoding, speex decoding and audio playback is completely encapsuled within the NetStream class. The only ways to achieve what we want (and all of them removing NetStream completely) seem to be:Send raw pitched audio data. That does work, but is of course a lot of data to send and will likely not work fast enough outside of our local LAN testing.
Pitch audio data, convert to ogg/mp3 using existing encoders for flash, send, decode ogg/mp3 and play. But this would mean encoding each and every sample packet that is received from the microphone, adding header stuff, etc. So this would likely not even yield that much of a benefit compared to raw audio data.2.1. This would actually be a good way if there was a Speex encoder/decoder for flash. But ironically, there is none other than the built in one (which is used for encoding/decoding audio in NetStreams) that cannot be explicitly used. ot offering it, Adobe...Send the data to the Cumulus server, pitch (and probably convert) there and send to the recipient. This would likely not even be that much faster than 1. and also throw away the exact benefit of RTMFP, P2P communication.
I have a multiple choice quiz that needs to have a sound played with each response. So if the user selects the correct response, they get the ding sound. If the user selects the incorrect answer they get a buzzer sound.
I have an MC with a lot of frames on stage and it has sound clips attached to each frame.
I need to stop the sound being played when I move on to another frame on runtime, thus, I need to access the sound object which has no instance name. Right now the sounds overlap since none of them stops and after a while all we hear is jibba jabba.
I'm creating kind of a pseudo RPG menu, and I just have the animation go to a different frame when you press an arrow key, backspace, or enter. I also have a couple of sound effects I wanted to play depending on what you press, but I am having no luck at all getting it to work, and everywhere I look online has very different instructions on how to go about it. Here's what I have just without any sound at all:
[Code]....
And then just different numbers based on what frame I'm on. As I said, I don't really know what I'm doing; a lot of this code was given to me. :/ So I know it's a lot to ask, but if I could get a very detailed explanation of what to do, If the sound could play before it switches frames, that would be best.
Problem is that the sound is played twice overlapping eachother (some of the mp3 is played first, interrupted, and then restarted again to finish fully).
I am trying to play a sound clip using actionscript 2 the code I am using is attached to a button and the code I used is the following.
[Code]...
My problem is that the sound clip loops and I do not want it to do so. I have other animations going on on the stage. I tried to place the stop(); command but I do not seem to be able to make it stop after my sound has played once.
I have imported my wav files to my library added them to the down state of my buttons and when I test the file I get (Sound has no valid device sound path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export settings. This sound will be ignored.) I have been surching for an answer but as of yet have found none.
I am just a rookie in Flash, and came across a problem. I'm trying to create a flash movie that will display time like a TV ident does. I've successfully set it up to get the correct time and play a "tik-tok" sound as each second passes. However, it is to have some background music, and I can't get it to start when I need it - for instance, if the time is 18:00:00 it should start at 00 seconds, it time is 18:00:21 it should start at 21 seconds etc. This is the script I used for ticking:
[Code]...
What should I use for the complex situation as described above? My only guess is that I should sync it to the frames in the background video (behind the clock, running at 24 FPS), but I haven't got a clue how to set that up as well. Can someone please help? If necessary I can upload the .fla file.
i am having some problems linking my mp3 player swf file to my website. It looks like it loads fine, and the buttons work and change the track of the song, but there is no sound heard or played. Here is the code i used to do this:
[CODE].....
As i said before, the player loads up and shows up on the website with no errorsand the buttons work (going to next or previous song as well as the pause and play buttons pausing and playing the music properly), but no sound can be heard. (this is being test on the latest version of firefox).
