I want to be able to detect if a swf is loaded into an html page so that I can apply the appropriate server path. but if I am testing the file, I wanted it to ignore the server path so that I can see the file locally. How do I do this?
right now in order to test the swf, i need to manually change the path by commenting and uncommenting it out each time I export it. It's not very efficient
I've been playing around with custom classes. My objective was to create a custom class (Testing) that would create a box when an instance of the class is created. I've tried three different approaches, however only (3) seems to be showing up. I'm just curious why (1) or (2) doesn't work?
Also is there a better approach than (3)? Since at the moment it's been created on _root. I hope the box can only be accessible through the instance. Since I'd like to incorporate the whole idea of public, private, encapsulation, etc.

View 1 RepliesI have a Flash slideshow that will only play in a browser if I click File > Open and open the .swf file locally and directly (not in a web page). It has never played in a webpage, remotely on the web server or locally on the Wamp server. It plays correctly in Flash when I test it.I have tried uploading the HTML page that Flash generates (without any changes), and it won't even play in that file. Im assuming if I check the function is complete it wont take into consideration the tweens may still be running.

I have FMS 4 and using AS3, no matter what I do I can't get any of my recorded FLVs to play in FLVPlayback.
Is there somethign I'm supposed to install on FMS to get it to play properly?
WHat should my path be? I've been told that the flv are living in the fms/applications/storyvideos/streams/videos folder.

i'm following Christian Cantrell guide for packaging AS3 application for iPhone, but i can't find a way to use the packager for creating an app for testing on device. I've tried with -target ipa-test and -target ipa-app-store but when i try to upload my app on the iPad, iTunes throws an error sayng that i'm not allowed.I've done a simple test using the Packager bundled width CS5 (with the same certificates) and everything gone right.
Is is possible to use CS5 Packager for Flex project ? (i know that flex isn't optimized for mobile)

the FMS server is streaming videos only when the path doesn't have the flv extension with the video. In case I put the .flv extension, it connects to the RTMP server but doesn't streams the video. How can I make it stream even if the video has .flv extension?
View 2 RepliesI have a big problem : My gallery ( with xml) was working perfect until yesterday . I uploaded my files to my server to test them. This morning I reopened the fla to make modif and big surprise : only the big image appears but no thumbs anymore in the scroller. I tried to trace the xml nodes but thay are now undefined. WHY? Everything is in the same folder.Nothing changed. I turned everything upside down but nothing. Does a uploading can affect some configuration ? Are the xml modified modified after being uploaded ?

There is a folder named public in the root directory. In the "public" folder we have a folder named Recorded_Videos, I need to place the recorded videos on this folder. How can I do this.Another issue that occurs while recording is NetStream.Record.noAccess. This is occuring while the recorded video is placing on client's flash media server with the path that i specified above. But when i running it in the local flash media server(developer version), its working well. The recorded files are placed on live_test folder. After this I seem to just run into problems. Each time I try and set the logic for the ball to change direction and head back to the left once it reaches the bottom of the stage it either just stops, or bounces slightly back and forth in the lower right hand corner.
As the topic indicates, i'm trying to create a curved path and make a movieclip follow that path up and down with a bit of rotation.

the same class is passed to the mxmlc compiler in SWF library as a symbol linkage class and again in a source-path. But the compiler uses the definition from the source-path so creating new instance of that class won't create new instance of the library symbol. How do I tell the compiler to prefer the definition linked to the symbol (the one dfrom SWC)?
I have my design assets in an FLA file and they are linked to classes (e.g. [URL]. Then I export those assets to a SWC library and pass it to the compiler. Now when I create an instance of the class (new MyAsset();) it will be a new instance of the library object.
But there are other classes too in the source folder (e.g. "com.myproject.model.*" so I need to pass the source folder to the compiler too. And that is the problem, now the compiler will use the MyAsset.as definition from the source path, not from the SWC where it is assigned to the library object so if I create new instance of MyAsset now it won't duplicate the library object.

I was wondering if it possible to write up some AS that will take line paths that you have drawn and convert them into a Path object? For example say you drew a jagged line from left to write, would there be a way to have AS convert that into a Path object.
