ActionScript 3.0 :: Created A Movie That Calls Up A MP3

I have created a movie that calls up an MP3 (background music) with this script:

The thing plays great with Player 8, however, when I play back the same .swf from Player 10, the sound plays much too fast (speeded up...how can that be????), and the quality is horrible (lots of slurps and pops and blips and beeps in there).

I have two swf files main.swf and button.swf the button file is loaded into the main file and after loading I am establishing a local connection bw the two so to call methods on each other.Now the problem is I can work with the local connection fine if i put the localconnection.send method inside a button handler but when I put it directly on the main time line of main.swf file it does work.here is the code that I am using main class

I may be chewed out for my methodology of how I'm developing this application which I am okay with as long as it enables me to be a better developer.That being said, I was wondering: how do all of you track movie timeline calls?I am building a web site for my company similar to 2advanced as there's just A LOT of graphic elements and animation. Because there are so many calls and a lot of the look is based on one element being called simultaneously and/or exactly after another element I'm having a hard time keeping track of all the calls(yes....I'm doing ALL of these calls in the timeline). Right now I have a hand-drawn tree diagram and it just keeps getting larger and larger.
On another note is there a better way of doing playing each graphic element than "gotoAndPlay" commands on the timeline? I realize that I could have done all of this in external files, but if that's the case then I imagine I would be doing the same thing and just creating a bunch of classes.

I have an interface that contains audio controls in the Library (class: AudioControls)When a movie is loaded into the interface, and it happens to contain a sound (class: Audio_1), this loaded movie calls an interface function to show the audio controls:

The problem is, the playCurrentAudio() func in the interface contains some code that refers to nested MCs:

That would be the speaker, rewind_btn, playPause_btn, etc. Referring to the parent clip, "audioControls", is no problem of course. But I get an error when I publish the loaded movie:

1119: Access of possibly undefined property rewind_btn through a reference with static type AudioControls.
1119: Access of possibly undefined property playPause_btn through a reference with static type AudioControls.

I'm having some trouble following this (link) tutorial. I'm new to flash, so please bear with me.
In step 1 of this tutorial, we have created multiple movie clips and then a single big movie clip(including all the movie clips).

I have one movie clip (photography_container_02.fla) thats loads another movie clip (slideshow_medical_02.fla) that calls xml stuff into itself. Both work fine separately but not one withing another. I researched and found that the xml needs to be set to root, but couldnt make it work. Here is the action script that is in sub movie clip: (files are also attached)

Q1) The registration point of a created clip is top left - my question is how can I dynamically change it's registration point - say to center center?
(I am trying to attach a movie clip to a created clip and I wanted it to be centered inside the container - a related sub-question, how can I find the x-y coordinates of the attached movie clip within the created movie clip?)
Q2)When I tried to create two different movie clips, I found I had to create them at different depths, else the first would load and the second would not. Why would that be so? I'm on MX 2004 Pro.

I'm having some issues getting a button to work from ctionScript.I created a movie clip and export it. Added it to stage and that displayed fine. I then added some text on the movie clip, converted it to a button and exported it... but then hit a wall. The button is in the library, but it doesn't like the ' import fl.controls.Button;'

I have an XML file that I am pulling thumbnails from. I would like these thumbnails to be links, but for some reason onRelease does not work on my movie clip created with createEmptyMovieClip.
I have this theory that my onRelease function is being called before my thumbnail image is fully loaded, but I may be completely wrong. Here is some example code of what I am trying to do.

Trying to add a set of movie clips to the stage in a loop. I need to be able to reference them on a mouseDown function - but the projHolder var in the mouse event is coming up undefined. Any ideas how to accomplish something like this?

I've created a flash movie using 640x480 document size.In the published SWF file, the size looked fine when the window was maximized, but I've just published an HTML format, and all the the frame was really small and tucked in the top left corner of the browser.I've tried typing a "100%" value in the Height field of the HTML file, but this just centered the animation, it didn't scale it.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Do I have to go back to the FLA file and edit all the symbols and raw data, keyframe-by-keyframe?

So I have a movieclip that I am dynamically adding to the stage when a user clicks a particular button. There are multiple button that each result in the movieclip getting attached to the staged and scaled to a different particular size. Instead of attaching a new instance of the movieclip every time a button is clicked, I only want to attach a new movieclip the first time one of the buttons are clicked and then scale the dynamically added movie to the size specified in the functions for all of the subsequent button clicks. To be clear, I want to attach the movieclip on the first click and then scale it for all of the subsequent clicks.

Is there any way to dynamically name a varaiable or created movie clip? I know that I could make an array of movie clips, but what I really want to do is make a new movie clipe name based on another name. The reason I want to do so is that I want to pass a movie clip to a function and have it make a new movie clip (to contain the first) with a slight variation of the test such as "frame" or "handle" which I can then use to center the source movie clip.

I'm using Flash 8.
I've made 18 movies in a for loop. I'm trying to modify a text field in those movies. I am unable to do so in the for loop. Something with my referencing is wrong.
The dynamic text field in each movie is named "eventText".

If I hardcode the event name for testing purposes, it puts the data in correctly:

I'm trying to build a relatively simple photo gallery where the images are loaded via XML into thumbnail movieclips that have been dynamically generated, positioned and added to the display stack. I used a simple for loop to generate the thumbs and traced the thumb.name to make sure they all had unique instance names. I then added a listener to the thumb mcs in the for loop and created a function that traces the instance name of each thumb mc, to see if all is working, however, every thumb mc traces the same instance name. My question is how can I create the thumbs dynamically in a loop and, essentially, make them buttons that would display the big the full size photo.

I am having trouble targeting a movie clip that was dynamically generated from information in an XML document. Basically, what I want to do is be able to manipulate the movie clip after it was generated by the initial function. I am trying to add action script 2.0 to a slider that i created using http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/slider.htm that slides a movie clip that is a timeline from left to right. In the timeline are (i)More... buttons that will reveal more information. I just need to know how to integrate the timeline into the code using as2 to make it slide when the slider is dragged..

I really could just use a good tutorial that shows me how to link the image that im sliding to the slider bar. When the slider is moved to the right... the image flows left.... toward the end of the timeline. When the slider is all the way right. The end of the timeline is shown. The timeline is bigger than the stage so the slider is on a line with years on it.

I am an AS3 n00b with hopefuly a simple question I am designing a simple game in flash. This code creates an array of movie clips and asigns a picture to each one. It is a map screen. What I need is when I click on one of the created movie clips, I need it to return either the index of the clip in the array or the name of the clip. Basicaly anything I can use to tell them apart in the code. Here is the code:

Now all this works fine, it creates the map and assigns the correct picture and places them in the correct X,Y position and it is the correct grid of 27x27 squares. The problem is with the name, when I click on the movie clip, it returns "Instance2" or "Instance5" or whatever. It starts with 2 and then increases each number by 3 for each clip, so the first one is 2, then 5 then 8 and so on. This is no good. I need it to return the name that I assigned it. If I put the code in trace(MapSquare[1]) it will return the name "MapSquare1" so I know the name was assigned, but it isnt returning.
