I have a template that I am editing. I have created new layers by duplicating an existing layer. The problem I am having is that anytime I make a change to a duplicated layer it changes the original as well. ie if I attempt to edit the action script on the new layer it changes the action script on the original? It seems as though they are linked and I can not find a way to unlink them??

To explain a bit more in detail: I got a movieclip with a few random variables and actions and I duplicate this movieclip and want the duplicate to have different random variables than the first one, but it gets identical ones.
View 7 RepliesI am making a quiz/game, and it works like this, two teams that have to take over the united states, by answering history questions, so right now I have it were when you click on a state, it takes you to a question (on a different frame in the main timeline), then I have a problem, if you get the question right it takes you to the "board" of the United States (that works), but when you are back the color of the state should change its color to red (on frame of the clip) if south got it and blue (another frame of the clip) if north got itBut instead i changes back to grey (default color, all start grey to begin with). I don't and can't seem to figure this out

The script involved in the frames are FRAME here:

When I test the movie and click the button, the frames don't seem to change.
I got a MovieClip filled with a lot of others clips... When I change de X or Y value of this first MovieClip the frame rate slows down for during 1 frame. For exemple... I created a counter that returns around 30 mseconds every frame, but when I do this X or Y change the return is around 400 mseconds... When I try to fill the first MovieClip with less information it goes faster, about 100+-200 mseconds...

What is the best way to change my frame rate of my rollver_MC to fps while leaving the entire fla to 24 fps in AS 3.0

But if I want to change these values I have a problem, I could create a button that says 'on(release){ mc1.framespersec(15);' but all this will do is increase the frame rate by 15, not make it 15.

View 2 Repliesway to change the speed of my movieclip without changing the frame rate, as it will mess the rest of my animation up. It looks great at 12fps but the rest of my animation is 24fps. I seem to of come across quite a lot of things about gotoAndStop function but I don't know if this would work as the animation is constantly flowing so wouldn't it suddenly jump? I made one petal and applied the following code to it (kindly done by Gu35s) so there are lots of random pretals moving across the screen, it is done in a similar way to how snow is done using actionscript. On layer 1 i have an input text field with the instance of "message_txt" that runs along all 5 frames in the timeline.

I want to change some of them to Anchor (to use as named anchors with fscommand), but the Type drop-down list is grayed out. Anyone know why? I can't find any info on named anchors, not even in the Help. Yes I know that anchors don't work everywhere, but this is for a specific client.

It is all on one frame.... in the background of the music player is edited video that I manipulate in final cut. I have next and pre buttons that call the xml. What I am trying to do is change the video when the song is changed. Im not sure if I call a fuction to the button next frame + or - 1 or if I can call the video to the xml. I am a graphic designer learning code and am not sure how to tackle this. This site is my senior project.

View 1 RepliesI have a scene with a monster. Monster blinks its eyes. Eyes blinking is a separate MovieClip. Under some conditions, monster opens its mouth. Mouth opening is a separate MovieClip as well. At this moment I have to hide eyes MovieClip. As soon as monster closes its mouth, I must make eyes blinking visible again. My idea is to have some listener that listens to Mouth_opening MovieClip. When Mouth opening's currentFrame changes from 1 to 2, I will hide eyes. When it changes from 2 to 1, I will show it back.
So, the question is: how do I listen to currentFrame changes? Event.ENTER_FRAME is not appropriate: it's being called every render frame, not only when currentFrame changes.
So I have a button movieclip, it has two frames inside it. onRollOver() I switch to frame 2 and onRollOut() I return to frame 1. The problem is that at run-time I draw two new movieclips inside this and alter their depths using swapDepths() so they appear below the existing movieclip.
The problem is that after you roll-over and then roll-out, the movieclips dissappear. I am assuming this is because the MovieClips I swapped their depths with get redrawn over my MovieClips's depths. How could I avoid this behaviour? The MovieClips I draw at run-time must be below everything else inside the button MovieClip, and I can't have a holder MovieClip inside the button in which to situate them.
