Is it possible to load in data of a myspace agenda as xml? Or is there a wsdl? I could not find an easy way to do this. I checked the myspace opensocial, but you use this only when you are building an application for the myspace site, right ?

The reasoning for the myspace (I hate it as much as the next guy) is that I really want the look and feel to mimic the site I'm working on to keep the branding.Currently I have a theme from URL... placed in my theme at URL... and had used the myspaceID for allowing the application access to the account.

What we're trying to do here is creating a digital agenda that's up to date.Sort of like Google Agenda, where time is synched with how the agenda is viewed. View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble getting Flash to work on Myspace. I'm running OS X 10.6.7 on an iMac, and using Firefox 4, Safari 5, and Opera 11 ... and nothing works. Myspace pages come up OK, but don't allow me to play songs on them. I've reinstalled the latest Flash ... am I missing some sort of additional plugin, or have I added some other plugin that's preventing it from working? and if I haven't provided enough info, I'm sorry, I'm a first-timer here.

View 14 RepliesOk this isn't as much of a flash issue but I can't figure out why the page loads this way. For those that can't see the image when myspace loads it automatically has the typing indicator on the search bar so if one of my friends trys to use my cmd prompt he types something in it searches on mysace. The only way around this is to click in the grey area / off the search bar then click the input box to begin typing. I'm wondering if there is a way if you guys know the where my flash input box gets priority over the typing indicator blinky thing.
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble making Flash open any links when embedded into my MySpace profile. I'm developing a MySpace profile layout that uses embedded SWF movies in custom created DIVs. Everything was going great. Things were loading into place and I managed to get my homemade Twitter widget to update perfectly using a crossdomain.xml.
The one problem I can't seem to address is the 'opening links' issue. Upon searching for the last couple of days, I came across some articles that claim MySpace blocks "navigateToURL" commands. Also found out a workaround that involves placing a transparent GIF over the area which is supposed to be clickable, but I still have hope that such a basic function as clicking a button within an embedded SWF in MySpace and opening said link can be achieved.

View 6 RepliesIm new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between
<noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.

However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? i load in AS3 data into flash and mantain their data type? Like receiving an array and even with arrays in it and recognizing that is an array instead of a standard string.
And if this is possible is it more reliable then using XML?

I'm currently working on a project that contains a lot of data, about 14.000 records. This means an xml file of about 3mb. Now my question is: Should I use the xml file to load all the data at once, or should I use a webservice, that provides the data when I need it? Keep in mind that I'm new to webservices. And if I'm going to use a webservice: How do I store the data, in a mySQL database?How fast is a webservice?
View 1 RepliesI made a quick flash document for my friend who posted it his MySpace. The document has 3 buttons, each with a URL attached to them. When I play the SWF file locally, the links work fine, however once it's published to MySpace, the links refuse to work. The hand icon comes up so it understands them at least as buttons, but it seems to do nothing when clicked in the web-browser. Also, I can open the SWF in my browser and it also works fine.
I'm using Flash CS5 and working in ActionScript 3.0.The three buttons are on one layer called "Buttons". I right click the button and click "Actions". From there, I click the "Code Snippets" and under the folder "Actions" there is an item called "Click to Go To Webpage". Here is the code it gives you by default:

I heard there was a problem with MySpace not allowing action scripts, and after checking the source code, the value is set to not allow action scripts. I don't think it's a browser issue, since it's working fine when I execute the SWF by itself, and when I load it into Firefox. It's just seems MySpace is having a problem with it.

I have a question about loading external data. When I had all my actionscript export to frame one, it would slow down the preloader and not show up until it was far into the progress bar animation. So I moved everything to frame 2. The problem with that is now my menus which are populated from an xml file are not there when the site starts to play. How can I get my xml data to load on frame one, but leave the .as fils to load in frame 2?
View 6 RepliesI have an SWF that's 30MB. Sound files (music) make up 25MB, art and other things make up the remaining 5MB.
Would it be possible for me to load the 5MB of necessary art and other things first to allow the user to operate the app, then after that's all loaded and they are operating the app, load the remaining 25MB of sound files in the background?
UPDATE: Loading SWF (or other entities) externally is not an option.

All I want is to load the XML data in Flash in two dynamic text fields (TextOne_mc and TextTwo_mc) and make the TextOne_mc to show me first the "TextShow1" then the "TextShow3" etc and the TextTwo_mc to show me first "TextShow2" then "TextShow4" etc,but when I'm done with it,TextOne_mc shows me "TextShow5" and TextTwo_mc shows me "TextShow6" only.
it is not easy at all. somehow i manage to put together my app. but in the end - jezzz what a troubles. i want the data from xml to load.
View 8 RepliesI have a flex app that takes data from a back end database then displays the content in one of 3 views. These views are all in a viewstack which is instantiated in main.mxml The method to get the data (remote object)is also in main.mxml.
The views rely on the data so how can I go about making sure that the data is loaded first before any of the views in viewstack are created / initialised to stop me having null reference errors?
I have an OOP PHP site structured with a MVC pattern. A page on the site has an embedded SWF that needs to pull information from a database. In the past, I would have just had a procedural php file for the swf to load the data from the database from. However, that method doesn't seem like it would fit with a more objected oriented site.
What would be the "proper" way for the swf to load external data? Should I create a class and a MVC pattern in the normal structure of the site that can pull the data (e.g. mysite.com/flash/data) and just pass this path to the swf as a FlashVar?
