ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Images From Xml And Taking Out Their Bitmap Data - Image-order Goes Bananas?

Sep 2, 2009

I load data from xml and want a list of thumbnails with text to be lined up. A handful of text-attributes to the xml-rows, including a src-attribute, which links to an image, goes through as wanted - text is shown, and images are shown. The image order, however, varies when I have more than two rows and is completely wrong. The text-attribute-order to each thumbnail remains perfect in all scenarios.The images bitmapData is taken etc., and the images are scaled to a proper thumbnail size. This might be where something goes wrong?

ActionScript Code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: What Is The Inconsistency - Images Loading In A Shuffled Order

Jul 22, 2009

I'm building a an multimage gallery. Almost everything is working well but a malignant fate that is making the images load in a shuffled random order. Everytime that I click each gallery button it gives a new sequence. If I was a poet I would say that it has no order just like the unpredictable chaos of a party in a drunk anarchist's whorehouse. (and if I was a poet I would not write what I wrote. Whatever!) The array that store the images URLs is showing a proper order. So it makes me think that the problem is on the onClickButton function, but I'm not sure.

Changing Order When Loading Images In As AddChild On Stage?

Jul 30, 2010

I have a movie on stage that acts as a button using the code. person_mc.buttonMode = true;

I load an image onto the stage from my library using addChild(holiday);

What happens is that the person_mc button I have on stage will not function anymore, because I am presuming it is underneath the holiday pic when I loaded it using addChild.

How do I load the holiday pic, so that it is underneath the person_mc?

I know I could do what I did with holiday using addChild for the person_mc, but I do not want to do it that way.

Flash :: Using Bitmap Data To Draw Massive Image?

Feb 18, 2011

I am making a snow boarding game in AS3. The problem I am having is that I want to leave a trail in the snow behind the board.

I have had a think and feel that the best way of achieving this would be to use the lineTo() method to draw a line form the snowboards previous position to its current position. If I do this all of the way down the slope I would end up with a line almost 23000 pixels long which seems extremely large and will have a major impact on performance.

If I were to convert the trail movieclip to a bitmap would it improve performance? I am targeting a minimum of flash player 9 which I have found to have issues when handling bmp's over 2880 pixels so I think this method might not work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Manipulate Bitmap Data Of Externally Loaded Image

May 2, 2011

I need to be able to manipulate the bitmap data of an externally loaded image (an image from the internet), however there seem to be security protocols preventing access to this.Is there a way I can gain access to the bitmap data of an image loaded from an external source? What I'm after is being able to save the image to disk, or pass the image to the printer. (I can do both of these things, but I'm not being given proper access to an external image)I've done a few work arounds and the best I've been able to get is it working for a few images, but not all images. Even if the image loads properly and can be displayed in flash, I'm not guaranteed access to the bitmap data.

Ive tried that and get an error saying that I need two arguments. I guess im just not sure what to do with the bitmapdata class.

I just started working with bitmaps and I do not get them at all, I've read the entire page adobe has on bitmap and bitmapdata. I've got this code together but all it does is displays a white rectangle and not my image.

ActionScript Code:
package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.Bitmap;
import flash.display.BitmapData;

This code should load the image into the bitmap (which works), then crop it with the rectangle (which just crops the fill from the bitmapdata)

ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClipLoader - Loading Bitmap In Holder Image Container

Aug 30, 2007

I'm trying to load a bitmap using this: [URL]. It seems like the preload is working fine. I'm just having trouble loading the bitmap from here. it works without the preloader but I can't figure out what's not making it load when it's done.

Code:
function loadTransBitmap(id){
this.createEmptyMovieClip("holder_img", this.getNextHighestDepth());
var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
preload = new Object();
mcl.addListener(preload);
[Code] .....

I noticed after the load is complete, I traced the width for targetMC, which is where the image should be preloaded..and it comes up as 0. So it seems like there's nothing in the holder_img container. But it preloads something so I don't know what the problem is.
Also: 'id' from the function is just the image (images/1.jpg)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing Movie Clip To Bitmap Data - Image Looks Different Depending On Size?

Jul 13, 2010

I've written a class that iterates through all the frames of a movie clip and draws each one to a different bitmap. When I'm done, I should be able to iterate through the bitmaps and play them like a flipbook animation.If I draw all the clips to the same size bitmapdata, then everything looks great. But this is wasteful because now a lot of the bitmapdata's are bigger than they need to be (takes up more memory), and also causes problems because the hit tests don't look right.

So next I try to crop all the bitmapdata to be the smallest possible sizes. However, when I do this, there are subtle differences in the way the images look - the edges might look slightly darker in one frame than in another. When I line up all the images and play them back to back, it no longer looks the same way it originally did.I have no idea why the images look different, and have no idea how to work around this problem, I have tried many different approaches. I have tried using BitmapData.draw(), BitmapData:copyPixels(), and manually using BitmapData:SetPixel(), and all end up with the same result

ActionScript 3.0 :: Taking Bitmapdata Of An Image Scaled Down With Overlay Objects On The Image?

hi guys, i got this image i scaled down by .5. The user is then allowed to add objects to the image such as flowers that are sprites in the library. So basically, a jpeg that is 800 x 800 is down to 400 x 400 on the stage and the user is able to add objects to overlay the image.

i want to save the image with the flowers and objects back to its 800 x 800, how do i redraw this image using bitmapdata properly?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading The Image Binary (after HTTP Request Headers Are Removed) As A Bitmap In Flash?

Sep 11, 2010

I'm building an image viewer that has violent content (video games), and so it requires users to enter their birthdays. Problem is that because of company policy, I can't expose any of the source images being viewed in the event that someone might use their resources/net tabs (or just sniff the request) and get the direct link to the image. (I know that they could screenshot it, but that's out of anyone's control and not something I'm worried about.)Is there anyway to inherently mask loaded resources (images)? I've been using sockets, which is great, but there's also the problem of actually loading the image binary (after HTTP request headers are removed) as a Bitmap in Flash.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmapdata.hitTest - Bitmap 'emptyBitmap' With Bitmap Data Created

Feb 3, 2009

I'm cutting my teeth in actionscript 3 on a game that has a character running through a world. So, I have set up my Hit Testing by using the bitmap data hit test method, since I figured my world is going to be destructible - it'd be nice to update the level and then redraw it and have the character interact with the new change. (That works beautifully) I am however; a bit confused as to how I have my hit Testing set up. I've been messing around with it, and it works for now - but I'm not sure why.. currently, I have a character set up by using a class I built and using a series of animations I created. So, this character has a walking and falling animation, etc. This is a movie clip.

Then there's a bitmap 'emptyBitmap' with bitmap data created - however; I never really added this as a child to the character. This is sized to the dimensions of my character. My level is created as a movielip, then it's drawn to a bitmap - when the level movieclip is changed, the bitmap redraws, and that's how this updates.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Why Are 100 - 300kb Images Taking So Long To Load Even On A ADSL Connection

Mar 7, 2011

Some background info: I'm trying to create a website to upload my photography portfolio to; the URL is as such [URL] So what I have done is create a parent page and created a variable that functions as a loader. Whenever a button is clicked an external swf file is loaded into that variable. And within those external swf files are additional buttons that will load an image into another loader.

Here's my question; for those of you who've tried the site will realise the images are taking an eternity to load, everything I learn about actionscript tells me this should not be the case. Each of the photographs are between 100 - 300kb in file size and really should not take more than a few seconds. This leads me to conclude theres something wrong with my code.

The code itself is nothing special, in fact it is the absolute most newbie way of creating a function eventlistener for every button. This is the code for the parent page;

var loader = new Loader();
var Xpos:Number = 440;
var Ypos:Number = 380;

[code]...

Here is where things got hectic for me for a while. I tried using the same type of code in the parent page for the external swf pages, for some reason it does not work, I had use the loader component (component's instance name is interfaceloader);

Product_A.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Produc tA);
function ProductA(event:MouseEvent):void {
interfaceloader.source = "Product_A.jpg";
}

Once again to summarise my issues; why are 100 - 300kb images taking so long to load even on a ADSL connection and is my code part of that problem?
