ActionScript 3.0 :: Make A Language Translation App Like Google Translate
Oct 28, 2011
I want to make a language translation app, like google translate. I want to know if there are any libraries I could use to translate from one language to another like: spanish to english. I need to translate between the languages: spanish, english, italian, french & portuguese. Please tell me if its possible to import and use dictionaries to translate like, for example a spanish-english dictionary, for the above languages.
I've uploaded a Chatango chat-box on a site of mine, and it worked fine, until I added <'param name="wmode" value=" transparent"/> to make the Chat-box transparent, because it fits nicer to my site. In that case, the browser would take as a default that my Keyboard is set to English, and so I cannot use some characters, while some others are switched, because I'm otherwise using a Slovenian keyboard setting. How do I make the chat-box transparent without the change in my Keyboard language?
I have Google Map working just fine. When I click "where we are" Google openes up no problem but when I click on another button let say "about us, Google stays in the background [code]...
I am studying land surveying and cartography and I am doing my final project. I am trying to make a google earth like map in Flash.I already have the map , in the form of swf files.
I need to move between (rotated) object in flex along x, y, or z as an independent observer. The movement relative to x, y works ok, but when I go along the z axis, the observer behaves as it was apart of the xyz system of the objects and doesn't go straightforward to the object but in diagonal for example. Here is some tryout code
is there a site out there that has a translation from all the common AS2 commands?I'm just learning AS3 now and i have no idea how to do the basic things such as _root.mc.loadMovie("asd.swf"); anymore
I've noticed a bit of discrepancy of using the public AS3 API for the GlowFilter strength property. All the others seem to make sense when comparing the visual effect using the Flash CS5 tool on a MovieClip. However the strength seems to baffle me. The API lists strength being a number from 0 to 255:
http:[url]..........How does a number between 0 and 255 translate to a number between 0 and 100% as listed in Flash CS5. In other words what would be the parameters I should use to repeat the same effect as this:
If I try to apply this using code this is what comes to mind for each of the properties:
So does strength of 100% act the same as the max value of strength allowed by the API, which is 255? Here's what happens when you do this with this code:
clip_mc.filters = [ new GlowFilter(0xFF0000, 1,5,5,255, BitmapFilterQuality.LOW,[code]............
When I test this I get different results. Here's the filter effect as applied at design time:And here's the filter effect applied dynamically using the GlowFilter class (see code above):
Notice the slight difference in the strength? How can we accurately replicate filters given these two strength scales? I need to apply a class to a load of MovieClip objects at run-time and don't want to have to go into the library and paste the filter preset 100+ times.
OK so inside one of my object classes i have this function
[Code]....
My preferred simple way of having animations in flash (im not fond of flashes drawing tools ) TA is a movieclip inside the Movie clip that the class is linked to, and TP is the one inside that one which contains the bitmap. Running this function in my enter frame gives me a
I have a Google Map in my Flash project with a polygon overlay. Is it possible to add to that overlay an EventListener so it triggers a function? All I can find in the API reference is something called "MapMouseEvent" but I can't figure out if that is what I need or how it works.
I have made an web site and I put it on the ftp address on the web. The site is full flash. My question is how can I make it visible on google search, or yahoo? Is there a piece of code that I have to insert on the html file that wraps the flash swf?
I have a MovieClip object, which is exported for actionscript (AS3) in an .swc file. When I place an instance of the clip on the stage without any modifications, it appears in the upper left corner, about half off stage (i.e. only the lower right quadrant of the object is visible). I understand that this is because the clip has a registration point which is not the upper left corner. If you call getBounds() on the movieclip you can get the bounds of the clip (presumably from the "point" that it's aligned on) which looks something like (left: -303, top: -100, right: 303, bottom: 100), you can subtract the left and top values from the clip x and y:[code]matrix has a tx value of 748 (half of stage height) ty value of 426 (Half of stage height)concatenatedMatrix has a tx value of 1699.5 and ty value of 967.75That's also obviously where the movieclip is getting positioned, but why? Where is this additional translation coming from?
I have a movie clip on the root timeline with 2 frames contained within it. I need the script to move the timeline to a different frame within this movie when a mouse moves over it. I pretty certain v2.0 action script would go something like:
I wanted to put a search box in my flex app that would act just like google or google finance: you start typing and a drop down list just below starts filtering the results dynamically. Does anyone know how to do this in flex? I am using flex and php so as the user types it will pull results off the server dynamically.
translation API for Flash that can return multiple translations/definitions for a single word.
e.g. fantasy = fantaisie, fantasme, imagination, cration etc.
I've managed to find a few that do one word conversion. Including APIs that use Google Translate as a backend. But can't seem to get them to work so that they return alternative translations if available. The web-based PHP/JS/etc. APIs seem to offer this, but haven't found it in Actionscript yet.
I need to translate this AS2 code into AS3 ASAP! how to translate a few lines from AS2 to AS3 [URL]I was supposed to make a flash 9.0 cs3 menu with buttons that stay down until another button is clicked.I've found an example of this on the net, one that is perfect in every way for what I need to have done. However, as always, there's a catch. The code on that site is written in AS2, which doesn't work for me because I'm using some functions which are incompatible with it (I suppose they're AS3 supported only, e.g. loaderComplete)
I'm using LoadVars and in my one variable I basically have a link <a href="contact.html">Contact Us</a>.Is there anyway that I could make this into AS to do something like gotoAndPlay()?Is there a better way to do this? This is a dynamic text field so I guess I could use a movie clip and put an action on that but I'm not sure where it would end so I'd have to put in the movie clip dynamically and then if I do that I'm not sure how to put the action on it.
One thing asked for a lot with sIFR is hyphenation. The only problem is that Hyphenator.as is written in AcionScript 3, while sIFR is in ActionScript 2.I found an AS2 to AS3 converter s3-converter-createtextfield-geturl-handling/ but the result examples.bezel.be/sIFR-as3.as is not working yet.
Is there a secret to getting AS3 objects to translate over into Java using LCDS/Blaze?I'm working on a legacy system and we are having issue communicating with the back end, specifically when we send certain custom AS3 objects over Blaze to our Java RO methods... sometimes they port over, but often they come across "the bridge" as nulls.
(Objects coming from Java to AS3 work just fine however, as do sending primitive values rather than objects.)I thought using the remote metatag [RemoteClass(alias="java.foo.bar.Snafu")] in our AS3 classes was enough for bidrirectional support, and indeed it works just fine when Java is sending AS3 Snafu objects... but when AS3 tries to send to Java it works for some classes (mostly the legacy ones) but fails for others (mostly our new classes).
The specific error we get is something like this: "Cannot convert type flex.messaging.io.amf.ASObject with remote type specified as 'null' to an instance of class com.foo.bar.model.ResultableResource".
The error to me looks like Blaze cannot find the ResultableResource java class, yet we've doublechecked that the classes that don't translate have equivalents on both sides, and indeed they look similar to the classes that are working.
Is there some external mapping or publishing trick we need to do in Java or AS3 to allow these objects to export correctly? Do they need to implement the java.Externalizable interface? Maybe they need to be added manually to some kind of manifest? Adobe docs are fuzzy on the matter and make it sound like things should just work, but they don't.
I'm used to using SoundMixer.computeSpectrum, but I need to get some data on-the-fly from the microphone (and I can't use the SoundMixer with the microphone).
I'm having trouble translating the FFT data (from this class) as shown in this excellent spectral analysis example to match the ByteArray output from computeSpectrum. My existing code is built to handle the data received from computeSpectrum (with FFT set to true).
So I have a Crosshair on the Stage and I have an Enemy with nested child limbs, when the below function is called I want to create a hit mark and attach it as a child to the Enemies Limb but how do I translate the X/Y position of the Crosshair to the Enemies Limb bearing in mind the Limb may also be rotated?
