Professional :: Showing A Progress Bar Or Percentage Value Before Loading The Main Swf?

Jun 9, 2010

Is there a surestarter preloader in AS3 with CS4? Meaning here, showing a progress bar or percentage value before loading the main swf, right away at the start of the  loading.I tried 3 different versions:

1- I used the code from a video (and accompanying files), and simply changed the content.swf to my own swf file (rename my swf content.swf), so that the original code would load my swf instead of the original content.swf. (original content.swf was too small to see anything before loading, because my loading speed is too fast).Here is the code from the original preloader (loads a small swf which then loads the main swf file):

var l:Loader = new Loader();l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);l.load(new URLRequest("content.swf"));
function loop(e:ProgressEvent):void{ var perc:Number = e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal; percent.text = Math.ceil(perc*100).toString();}[code].....

Apr 17, 2009

I need to preload 12 images and 12 mp3 files, and the xml file for my text, at the beginning of my swf file.

Is there any fairly easy way to do this? I've searches for tutorials/examples, but can't find anything helpful. Is there a way to preload a folder, where I can keep these files? Or some way to get all files preloaded in the same preload progress?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Setup A Preload System That Can Load Multiple XML Files And Manage An Overall Progress Bar

Feb 5, 2010

I'm trying to set up a preload system that can load multiple XML files and manage an overall progress bar but got immediately screwed by ProgressEvents not bubbling. My basic code set up is: Document Class

XMLManager extends EventDispatcher
XMLloader extends EventDispatcher

So document class up an array of xml paths and passes that to the XMLManager, that then iterates through the array and creates a new XMLloader for each path and stores those XMLloaders in another array. The XMLloader goes off and creates an URLLoader that loads the XML. It has listeners for Event.Complete, IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR and ProgressEvent.PROGRESS which is fine.

I'm getting the correct progress data in my progress handler but what I want to do is broadcast that progress data straight back up to the Document Class which I had thought would be where dispatchEvent would come in by doing something like this in the XMLloader class:

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Preload (External) Main SWF

Dec 5, 2003

In my flash site I have one main swf that is preloaded using:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
framesLoaded = (Math.ceil (( _parent.getBytesLoaded() / _parent.getBytesTotal()) * 100));
gotoAndStop (framesLoaded);
info.text = framesLoaded + "% completed";
if (framesLoaded >= 100) {
_root.gotoAndPlay (2);
}}

Works great, main swf preloads, then begins to play. On frame 5 it calls my external swf using:
Code:
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("container", 1);
loadMovie("externalmovie.swf", "container");
setProperty ("container", _alpha, "45");
container._x = 64 ;
container._y = 135 ;

It calls the external swf directly onto level 1 of the main swf at the location and alpha specified. I need this external swf to preload! I want to use the exact same method as the code I used for the main preloader, but it conflicts....being that it uses _root, _parent? However, being new to actionscript, I have no idea what "paths" need to be changed to make this work and not conflict.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preload External SWF Into Main

Dec 11, 2003

The basis of this question is why my code won't work to preload an external swf into my main swf. I have a main swf this calls the external swf using:

Code:
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("container", 1);
loadMovie("externalpreloader.swf", "container");
setProperty ("container", _alpha, "45");
container._x = 64 ;
container._y = 135 ;

I've attached an example fla like the external swf I'm trying to load, and you can see the preloader I'm using in that file. All that happens when this swf is brought in is a quick flash of the outline for the preloader and then the swf starts playing. It's not just because of the small size either, because no matter how big I've made the swf, that's all it ever does. I think it must have something to do with referring to _root, but I don't know how to change it! To test it add a large pic or sound file on the frame that I just drew a rectangle.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preload External Swf's Into My Main Site?

Nov 25, 2008

how to preload external swf's into my main site. I have tried all sorts of differents codes and ways to set it up, but nothing seems to work. I have a preloader I use to load the whole site, with this code

myProgressBarListener = new Object();
myProgressBarListener = function (eventObject) {
myProgressBar._visible = false;[code].....

is there a way i can take this code and the preloader i have made and place it on one frame in my timeline and change the code a little bit to provide for my external swf to be loaded into a holder?If anyone has links to how to do this easily that would be awesome. I am having quite a headache trying to figure this out. I have a lot of photo galleries that i need to preload when the button is hit and you are directed to that frame in the movie, so people have something to look at while that photo series loads.

Flash :: Set Up A Preloader To Show The Load Progress Of The Main Swf

Nov 3, 2009

I'm trying to set up a preloader to show the load progress of the main swf, which has all of it's assets embedded. I found the factory class method as described on bit-101, but no load progress ever seems to show. The swf loads fine, but the bytesLoaded is always equal to bytesTotal and therefore the preloader is never called.

[Code]...

This correctly calls the Factory class first, and then instansiates Main and calls init(). But as I mentioned above the preloading is never shown as it seems to be loading everything straight away.Is this a problem with the way I'm embedding the images or because I'm testing locally?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Display And Preload An Image Onto Main Movie Clip?

Jan 16, 2006

basically i would like to dynamically display and preload an image onto my main movie clip. this image would be the first item in my xml file. on my main timeline i would like to have a few buttons that a user could click to change the default image on the page.

when they select a new image, i would like to have the preloader appear above the default image and then tween between the old and new image (one fading out and one in kinda thing).i sourced some code but i've been having problems preloading the first image. the image loads but the preloader doesn't do anything. it seems like the preloader doesn't seem to recognise that i'm trying to load an image. it thinks it's fully loaded and carries on before the load can begin!i would also like attach a different preloader for the first image displayed than the ones being loaded via the buttons.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Conditional Within Loading Progress?

May 31, 2006

I'm trying to make it so that the first 99 frames of a 198 frame preloader run even when the swf is loaded into the cache. I have the script looping the second 99 frames of the preloader while the movie is loading, but when it's already loaded, I only want the first 99. Right now, when the movie is already loaded, I'm only able to skip over the preloader altogether and go right to the movie OR I can see a loop that starts at the beginning of the preloader and then cycles through the second 99 frames indefinitely and never goes on to the movie that's loaded. At first I was using two separate movie clips, one for the first 99 frames and another for the second 99, but since that didn't work, I combined the files to see if that would work, but it didn't. I've tried so many adjustments, I've run out of ideas. Is it even possible to use a conditional with the onComplete function that's supposed to run when the loading is done, so that onComplete only happens if the current frame of the preloader is greater than 99?

Here's my script for frame 1 of my movie. The movie proper starts on frame 2, and preloader is the 198 frame movie clip in the library. The result of this script is an endless cycling of the preloader even when the movie's loaded.

stop();
preloader.play();
function everyFrame(event:Event):void
{

ActionScript 3.0 :: Progress Bar Componet For Loading Images?

Feb 16, 2009

I'm having quite a hard time with trying to use the UILoader& Progress Bar components together, to make my thumbnails &main images load. The slideshow consists of 6 thumbs, each loadedinto a UILoader component, and held within a movieclip calledthumbs_mc, which is animated to appear as if its moving up a path(starts really small, and enlarges toward the user). I've foundthat the animation will not work unless the UILoader components arecontained inside of a movieclip.What I'm trying and failing to do is monitor the loading of the thumbs, so that they won't start movingdown the path until they finish loading. So far, what happens whentesting live is that the thumbs skip the animation and just appearin their end positions. I can't seem to get the Progress Bar andthe UILoaders inside the thumbs_mc clip to work together.

Once I've figured out how to do this, the next step would beto load with UILoaders and the Progress Bar each of the largeversions of the images, when the thumbs are clicked. But for themeantime, if I can figure out the thumbs, I can probably figure outhow to apply the same technology to the loading of the main images.
