ActionScript 3.0 :: Optimal Speed Stream Between FMS-Client?
Jan 19, 2009How to optimal speed stream between FMS-Client? I'm coding a application about Video Conferencing. But speed transfer between FMS and Client slowly.

View 0 RepliesI need to test the upload speed of the client machine in AS 3.0. So I thought to upload an image that embed to swf, to server without user interaction.
View 2 RepliesI can't figure out how to publish an audio stream from a client to the server using FluorineFx on the client. We want to stream recorded audio data from the client to the stream via the already established NetConnection. There is a NetStream class in FluorineFx but it has no publish method. The NetStream class in FluorineFx only has the play method. But as far as I understand this plays a stream from the server on the client. Is publish not implemented in FluorineFx or do I miss something?
View 2 RepliesI thought that it was the NetStream.Play.UnpublishNotify in the NetStatusEvent but that doesn't get fired when I stop the live stream. The onFCUnsubscribe event does get fired, however, I have a 5 second buffer and it doesn't wait for that buffer. It gets that event almost instantly. What is the correct way to alert a user that the stream is finished?
View 1 RepliesI use wowza server and need to build a flash client to publish different encoding qualities streams. Does it has any open source or paid with source code flash client products?
View 3 RepliesI know the FMS is good for streaming things video to clients and for clients to publish videos from their attached camera. Is it possible for a client to publish something other than a stream from a connected camera, for example, the contents of my swf stage? Is it possible to draw something like a text overlay onto a published stream?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to stop a (live) Stream from playing for a user, but keep his NetConnection open for eg chat functionality?I only see a setBandwidthLimit to accomplish something similar to this, but then, if BW is set to 0, chat won't work.Why isn't there a built in feature to do something of seemingly common necessity like Client.stream.stop/change function to stop or change what video playback the client sees?
View 2 Repliesinsert captions into a live flash video stream.[URL]this example uses a Flash client app wich can invoke something like video_nc.call("sendDataEvent",null,inputfield_txt.text);How can do this without any Flash client/environment ? (I of course still use an FMS 3.5) I would like to use a python (or php...whatever) piece of code to extract caption from VBI in the incoming video stream and insert it in the flash stream.
View 3 RepliesI am publishing video content to FMS with my program to livepkgr application. After i start publishing the vidoe content, files like .bootstrap, .conrol, .f4f and .meta are gettign created inside the livepkgr folder's my stream folder. But when i try to playback via OSMF player, the player is throwing error 1009. This happens for some few minutes. After some 4-5 minutes, the player start playing the live video content properly (.f4f file size is not getting updated for those few 4-5 minutes)
View 2 RepliesI understand how clients use bandwidth detection etc to dynamically switch streams via client calls with ns.play2( ... ), but I was wondering if it's possible to only ever use 1 initial ns.play( ... ) call on the client side, but let FMS server side logic that I write dictate which client sees what content. For example, I have 3 clients connected to my FMS server, all watching a live stream. I then decide I want clientA to see 'recordedMovieA.flv', clientB to continue seeing the live stream, and clientC to watch 'recordedMovieB.flv'.

i am currently playing around with a flash media server trial in combination with the flowplayer.All in all i am testing the performance and general functionality for the company i work for.Anyways, i am trying to search a way to check the bandwidth of a client ( server sided ) and redirecting him to the right video stream.Sure this could be done by the backend flash application, but its out intention to perform this check server sided.
View 4 RepliesI am wondering what values should I put in the Process tag of Application.xml considering my application. I've done some studies but I am still unsure and would like some expert opinion To help you help me : I have a video chat application that comes with a contact list, so think skype on the web.

I set a RollerOver because sometimes RTMFP crashes on my server, and by putting the RollOver it seems to help, by re-newing the core process. However when clients are connected before the rollover, then they will not see their friends going online after the rollover which sucks.
I got a question in need of somebody who knows a lot more internals of the Flash system than I do. My artist designs the objects I use in my games as Movie Clips in Flash CS 4. I export those Movie Clips from Flash CS 4 to Flash Builder 4 via a SWC file. In order to do this, I select "export for ActionScript" in Flash CS 4, and "Export in Frame 1".
1. If a Movie Clip has 20 frames, does Flash export 20 drawings, 1 for each frame? If not, how does it do it?
2. I heard that if I have scripts in the frames, I will definitely get more objects instantiated, thus, for many instances of the Movie Clip in my game, I will get a performance hit.
3. Is it ok to add my scripts via "addFrameScript" in the Flash Builder-side, rather than put them in Flash CS 4?
I build a lot of very small scale flash websites and I often use simple animation effects such as fading images in/out, sliding consoles in/out, etc. Up to this point I've just used the Tweener class provided in the caurina package.However, I find that my effects (as simple as they are) are very choppy, and often lag. I'm wondering if there are strategies out there for getting better looking animation. I tried to see if there were any multithreading options so that I could allocate a thread to just animation but apparently there isn't...so I'm not sure what else I can do to make the playback smoother.
I go to many sites and see flash transitions that playback at optimal speed and I have no idea how that is so commonly achieved. Are there good practices out there for optimal animation playback? Or some utility that is commonly used? I read that PixelBender effects run on their own thread, but I don't think PixelBender can do everything I need to do, and I doubt that the majority of Flash sites out there use PixelBender.
I was wondering whether MP3s or WAVs would be better to avoid syncing issues. Also, what audio stream settings would be best?
I was also wondering if you can manually play the audio track by moving the play head over it. I've tried multiple times with multiple settings to no avail.
sample Application, etc. .xml that would provide optimal tuning for many 4-way video chats?Using the "live" application out-of-the-box ended up in very significant delays (~7sec)
View 1 RepliesSo, I'm creating a fairly basic overhead 2d game where users can "draw" a map. (Actually, they dont draw it, the manually input a list of x/y's, but the design aspect isnt important just now.) When a new tile is added, that tile goes into an array of all tiles ingame. The centrepoint is 0,0. Tiles can be added in all directions, so may be at 1,1 or 100,100 or -50,-50. Sometimes I want to determine what tile is at a location. One (imho bad) way of doing this would be to get the x/y and loop through all tiles and check if they are that location.
The way I'm currently doing it is to have a seperate 2d array of null elements, and when a tile is added, its set at that array. (ie tilemap[10][10] = tile[100]) Of course, because the values can go negative, tilemap [0][0] is actually the -1000/-1000 tile. (chosen as an arbitrary limit) Is there a better way of doing this? I feel like using a massive array of mostly empty objects could be more optimal.
I want to add an animated .gif file to my movie. So I created a new symbol and then imported the .gif file to the stage. This created the symbol containing the animated .gif.I dragged the symbol onto the scene where I want it. However, the animation seems to play at a different speed (fps) than normal. So I changed the fps of the symbol (at bottom of Timeline where it says "fps"). But for some reason this changes the fps of the rest of the entire movie.
View 3 RepliesI'm tweening a movieclip from startX to finishX. The value of startX varies but finishX is a constant. But as the startX increases in value the animation appears to be quicker. How do I adjust the speed of the tween to ensure a consistant speed regardless of the value of startX?
View 1 Repliesis there anyway to change a songs playback speed depending on a speed variable. heres the kicker tho im limited to using only as2.
View 2 Replieshow can I find on fms server that client disconnected if if client disconnected due to power cut off. I client manually close the application then onDisconnect on server is called but if due to power cut off it does not called.
View 1 RepliesI have a movie clip on my scene which has a speed applied to it making it move across the screen. This is duplicated when it reaches the other end of the screen.On my scene I have some action script which is acting as a timer. After a set time I want it to increase the speed of the movie clips, making the game become "harder". I seem to be able to manipulate the alpha of my movie clips but can't seem to trigger the speed increase.If i use a setInterval it seems to trigger the speed increase but it does it each time the movie clip is duplicated (so the delay resets, it does not change once and apply throughout)However, where I am changing the alpha I cannot seem to change the speed.
View 2 RepliesHow can i detect mouse speed with AS 3.0, and then put speed limit? Also can i use speed var for anything else? *sorry for my bad English, i live in non-english-speaking country*
View 9 RepliesI have one that's almost done and the stage size is 700x800 px. But I'm starting to worry if that's going to look too small? To change it, will be a lot of work - there's animation, imported Jpegs etc. As far as I can tell, in order for it to look correct in larger dimensions I will need to basically create it again from the ground up. So, I'd really like to get an idea of what the optimal pixel dimensions would be for ecards to run on multiple platforms.
I really want to do this and I don't feel like I can move ahead until I get the viewing size correct. I don't even mind redoing the card. I just want my future cards to be the correct size. I don't want to have to come back and redo them all. By the way, the cards are being made in Flash. The site itself will be created in DreamWeaver.
I am trying to create a flash player to stream an on online Internet radio station using FMS. I chose FMS after being told that I need RTMP server to extract the metadata. Our radio audio is being encoded using a DJ interface called SAM Broadcaster. But for some reason, it does not have an option to send over the stream directly to a Flash Media Server. Only options are either IceCAST or ShoutCAST. How should i setup the stream? Should it be Stream encoder>> IceCAST/SHOUTCast Server>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client. Or should I setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client? Shouldn't Flash Media Server be an alternative to IceCast or Shoutcast? If that is the case, how do I send over the stream from SAM Broadcaster directly to Flash Media Server without restreaming through another streaming server?

View 1 RepliesI've tried using both Adobe Media Encoder and FFMPEG to get a video that allows frame-by-frame viewing. I've been compressing them with a keyframes at every frame.Currently the most major issue is when I output a video including audio, the player does not allow the video to step backwards to previous frames. I understand this is all a bit abstract without seeing any code, but I was hoping there would be an obvious answer why this would be.
Here's the code used to step backward. It seems the FPS is hardcoded, which probably not the best approach. Should it rely completely on keyframe data or possibly metadata?
Code:
internal function videoStepBack():void{
log("videoStepBack");
__ns.pause();
__ns.seek((__ns.time - (24/1000)));
}
I am trying to build a client-to-client streaming program - client 1 has a webcam and client 2 will connect to client 1 and be able to view the webcam. Is this possible using 2 swf clients? Can someone point me in the right direction as to what commands would be used to connect the two clients. I have tried: binary sockets Connect() where each clients points to the other and they both time-out NetConnection to try to point each client to one another to establish a connection, but no luck with that either; this seems more oriented towards streaming content to a flash media server rather than to another flash client.
View 1 RepliesWe're writing a flash application that can download a MP3 file, convert it to a Sound object, get the raw data and make some processing (like adding sounds, change octaves). After the processing, we want to send the data back to the server in chunks, so the server will be able to glue the data together and recover the new generated file. The problem is: if we send to the server "wav" pieces of sound, we are able to glue them together without any problem in the generated file. However, if we convert each wav piece to a mp3 file (so we can send a smaller file to the server) and join the mp3 files at the server, the result is a sound with some problems at the merge point.
This is how we load the mp3 file from the server:
sourceSnd.load(new URLRequest("sample url to mp3"));
sourceSnd.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, carregou);
This is how we convert each piece of mp3 to bytearray and wav:
