I am in the process of making a map editor in AS3 that loads maps in through XML, and I need it to save files. It will only be running offline ina standalone player.I have discovered how to create the XML data, but how do I write that into a file and save it?

I run through the process of making code for a whole scene without compiling periodically I overlook where a child is added to and try to remove it from somewhere else. View 1 RepliesFor a project, I'm making an interactive side scroller.You move the character with the arrow keys and press the space bar to interact with things.So far, I followed DexNote's tutorial on YouTube.I thought that I would make the interactable objects as buttons, while the mouse focus would be on the character and when you press the space bar it make a mouse click in that area.The trouble I'm having now is that I don't know how to make the space bar trigger the "interactions."

It works a treat but I would like the transition from black & white to colour to be faster. Is there anyway of doing this without much(hardly any) flash knowledge.

Also, I am strictly working with flash pro cs3 and have never used flex. I have lots of components from all the time with as2, but now need to convert everything over to as3. View 9 RepliesI recently migrated from CS3 to CS4, and have a question about the "Motion Editor". In principle it sounds fantastic, but I can never get it to work on any of my fla files. The tab is there, but when I select a tween span in any of my files, the Motion Editor continues to say "to edit properties, select a tween span in the timeline or a tweened object in the document." Nothing I do can get the Motion Editor to show anything but this.
Is this because the Motion Editor works only on tweens in new fla files created in CS4? (My existing files were all created in CS3.) Very frustrating, as I would like to use this new feature. I tried to get it to work in a new CS4 file, creating a tween and going to the Motion Editor tab, but.

Normal user can only edit id values('1','2','3'),country values('aaaa','aaaa6','aaaa4') and user names('XASD','XASQWED','XASDRQQ').But not node names('users','user') and attribute names('id','country').
I prefer to present the XML to the user as in an editor like interface and restrict editing there,rather than using a grid interface in which attribute names and values are listed in separate columns and enable editing for value column only.
I am in the process of creating an all-flash website for my best friend.It is for his music group and he would like to be able to update the dates on the upcoming events page every so often.s there a fairly easy way for me to show him how to do this, or should I just scrap the half-made flash site and opt for an html site?

So my questions are these: Is there any advantage to using vector elements in flash projects, or do they just get rasterized in the swf creation process?
If you use vector instead of raster art, can you scale your swf infinitely large (theoretically) without degradation? Will vector art result in a smaller swf size? Will it take less processing power to play?
So my problem is that I can not even run Adobe Flash.
I downloaded the trialversion and I installed it too but after running the Flash.exe it closes immediately without any error message.

After that I passed the script file name as an argument. It also needs the working directory to be set to the directory of the script otherwise you get:

View 1 RepliesI want to send AJAX requests to my website from my Flash games to process data, but I don't want people downloading them, decompiling them, then sending fake requests to be processed, so I'm trying to figure out the most secure way to process in the PHP files. My first idea was to use Apache's built in Authorization module to require a username and password to access the pages on a separate subdomain of my website, but then you'd have to include that username and password in the AJAX request anyway so that seems kind of pointless to even try.My current option looks pretty promising but I want to make sure it will work. Basically it just checks the IP address being sent using REMOTE_ADDR to make sure it's the IP address that my server runs on.

Both of those IP addresses point to my server. Things I'm worried about:

I am trying to make an AIR application, that needs to pass an image (.jpg/.png) to a C++ app, that does number crunching.(this needs to be done very often, like every 2-3 seconds.) I've managed to pass the image by saving it to disk via AIR, then opening this file with the C++ program (and passing the filename as an argument to the C++ program), but this method is really slow, because it involves lots of disk I/O.
Is there a method to send an image directly to a native process?
Edit: There is a good Flash-C++ communication example at [URL] using sockets. The big problem with this method is, that some firewall settings can block the communication (i get a windows firewall warning, when i start the app).
I see a lot of tutorials out there for the flex environment but none for Adobe Flash Cs5. Not even when it is using the AIR build.How exactly does one communicate with a native process using flash or air?

I'm struggling through trying to learn the new tween system. Is it just me or did they completely NUKE workflow with this new system? Is there any way to copy and paste the property keyframes?I often have animations where things loop, so the last frame of the motion tween needs to be the same as the first frame. In the old days I would just select and copy multiple keyframes from frame 1 and paste them at the end. Done in 5 seconds. The only way I can find to do this now is to hand set every freaking property on every freaking keyframe of every freaking object.

I've just made my first flash movie in flash cs4 and I wanted to add easing to the (classic) tweens I created. I tried selecting the first graphic, then I tried selecting the (classic) tween span, but each time I go into the motion editor it just says "To edit properties, select a tween span in the timeline or a tweened object in the document".
Does anyone know of a free flash text editor. Something that I can put on my website to update the text without going into the flash file and reuploading.
