I recently migrated from CS3 to CS4, and have a question about the "Motion Editor". In principle it sounds fantastic, but I can never get it to work on any of my fla files. The tab is there, but when I select a tween span in any of my files, the Motion Editor continues to say "to edit properties, select a tween span in the timeline or a tweened object in the document." Nothing I do can get the Motion Editor to show anything but this.
Is this because the Motion Editor works only on tweens in new fla files created in CS4? (My existing files were all created in CS3.) Very frustrating, as I would like to use this new feature. I tried to get it to work in a new CS4 file, creating a tween and going to the Motion Editor tab, but.
I'm struggling through trying to learn the new tween system. Is it just me or did they completely NUKE workflow with this new system? Is there any way to copy and paste the property keyframes?I often have animations where things loop, so the last frame of the motion tween needs to be the same as the first frame. In the old days I would just select and copy multiple keyframes from frame 1 and paste them at the end. Done in 5 seconds. The only way I can find to do this now is to hand set every freaking property on every freaking keyframe of every freaking object.
"How do I get the motion editor to show easing controls"?
I've just made my first flash movie in flash cs4 and I wanted to add easing to the (classic) tweens I created. I tried selecting the first graphic, then I tried selecting the (classic) tween span, but each time I go into the motion editor it just says "To edit properties, select a tween span in the timeline or a tweened object in the document".
iam new to Flash CS4 and for some reason i cant scrub the playhead when in the motion editor window? if i press on the playhead it only moves to next dot on motion timeline, like a snap motion.
The playhead in Motion Editor doesn't work and I'm seeing in tutorials.I can't scrub it along the timeline. When I pick a keyframe point it doesn't appear there unless I change the value of that point. If I then click on the playhead rectangle, the playhead disappears (actually it appears to jump to the first frame where it's half visible and can't be moved).I was playing with the motion editor interface trying to better define the problem and I figured out what's wrong.
The Motion Editor values for graph size, expanded graph size, and viewable frames were unusable in their default settings. In particular, viewable frames were set to 1 by default. As I increased the value the playhead started to function. I can't set a value higher than 117. I've maxed-out the graph size setting at 180 (300" wide format display) and the expanded graph size at 200.
I really like the motion editor in CS4. A lot is easier than before, particularly working with ease. But I wounder how you use the custom curve when having a complicated motion with a lot of keyframes. In programs like AE it's easy to select a key and tell if it's going to be a easy in/out or both, and then I select next key and tell how that key should ease. In Flash CS4 I allways get a easy curve that range the entire tween. Is the workflow to brake everything apart so you tween every single motion, or is it another way doing it?
I've been using the motion editor for my Motion Tweens, but as you probably know, I can't use the motion editor on a Shape Tween. Is there no way to do this? I just want it to slowly ease in.
I'm trying to access the rotationY property in code to determine the current state of a movie clip that has its rotationY animated in the motion editor. What I'm seeing is that the value of the property reported in a trace stmt is different than the value shown in the motion editor.
In the motion editor I created a tween from rotationY=0 at frame 0 to rotationY=353 at the last frame. I've added the attached code to get the value of rotationY at every frame.
What I see is that the rotation does not increase steadily from 0 to 353. Instead it increases from 0 to 90 and then decreases back to 0 and then goes negative to -90 at which point the absolute values decrease toward 0. This seems like a bug. The rotation of the object is visibly different during the 0 to 90 deg
I recently installed Flash CS4. As I attempt to learn from different tutorials I've run into a problem I can't figure out. I've watched the video tutorial at: [URL] several times to try to emulate the rotating logo. The problem I run into is when he says to open the Motion Editor and to edit the Rotation Y and Rotation Z properties. When I open my Motion Editor there is no Rotation Y or Rotation X. There is only a Rotation Z property. I've played it over and over to try to discover what setting I've missed but don't see it. How do I see a Rotation Y property to be able to edit it?
Is it just me or is creating and applying custom easing with the motion editor absurdly difficult? Firstly, the bezier curve tool for custom easing has a mind of its own. It will change the curve at a different anchor point to the one you're editing on a whim and every time you get close to where you want the curve it does it again and you're back to square one. Second, you have to recreate a custom ease for every tween as there's no way to save them. It's impossible to create two custom eases exactly the same! The entire motion editor seems designed to infuriate me and parts of it don't seem to have been tested at all.
Why are the scale x and y options grayed out on the motion editor? I tried editing width and height (W&H) in the "properties panel" under "position and size" and all that does is move the position my object diagonally for some reason, not scale the size. Also, when i do this, the Width number does not change, but the x and y position numbers above it change. Strange!
I'm working in Flash CS4 and I can't see my timeline (or playhead) in the Motion Editor.I've never experienced this before and have no idea how to remedy the issue
I was playing around with Flash cs4 on the motion editor, and I changed some number at "exanded graph size" from 200 to 150, and the entire motion editor became empty!
Is there a way to move multiple frames in the motion editor (CS4)? Like now I have to move them one by one and it's hard to make them keep their values coz the shift+move doesn't seem to work.
Everytime I try to make a change by scrubbing a number in the motion editor, the program crashes with no explanation as to what went wrong. How do I stop this from happening? I was viewing an online video tutorial when it happened. If it helps, here is some information about my computer:
I've tried searching but have not succeded in finding an answer, I just hope i'm not asking something that has already been answered.ANyway , here I go.For some reason the filter option is greyed out in the motion editor ans i don't understand why, and I was hoping someone would be kind enough to enlighten me on the matter?Could it have to to with the fact that i'm apply ing the motion tween to a graphic symbol with an imbedded animation ? Should i change it to a movie clip?
I'm just now trying the Motion Editor for the first time in CS4 Professional. I've created a shape, converted it to a symbol, done an Insert Motion Tween, and brought up the Motion Editor. I'm looking for Rotation X and Rotation Y, but only see Rotation Z. My Publish Settings are Flash Player 10, ActionScript 3.
When I try to insert a keyframe in Motion Editor, Flash CS5 crashes.I tried to use two computers running the same Mac OS X 10.5.8 with the same specs and only one of the machines crashes.
I'm trying to create a flash xml editor based on senocular's news editor but I am having some trouble getting the xml file to load. My xml file is structured as below[code]...
my main class is Editor my sub class is a CustomTextField i need my Editor to keep track of what the active CustomTextField is, since there can be more than one. i want to have a variable, activeTextField:String to keep track of the active CustomTextField. i created getters and setters on editor to keep track of activeTextField. how do i call these getters and setters from the editor w/out using static getters and setters on the editor? this has to be confusing to read because i am utterly confused writing it...
Does anyone have any experience using external actionscript editors? I've given a brief look at SE|PY, but not sure why it's any better than the native editor in Flash.
If I perform a motion tween along a curved path, Flash CS4 does not allow to change the curves to "corner point" or "linear" in the motion editor. URL...
I have been searching far and wide for a solution on how to offer slow motion and fast motion options for users that upload video to my webstie. There is an implementation on Google Video that has exactly what I am looking for: the option to speed up or slow down the video and continue to play the audio. The screenshot is below. I know that Flowplayer has an option to slow down or speed up video when implemented with Wowza server. However, when using that approach, there is no sound.
I have also seen the option from Enounce called MySpeed that allows video to be slowed or quickened, but this requires a browser plugin which is too much of a barrier for our users. How does Google do it? How can you add an option to a flash player to slow down or speed up video? Here is a screen shot. You can see the option to change the speed of the video to 1.5x. It also has options to go to 0.5x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2.0x, 2.5x, and 3.0x.
I would like to create a polygon that changes its shape (circle, trapezium, square, rectangle, triangle) based on specific buttons that the user clicks? An existing shape has to be able to morph into all the others. For instance, the trapezium has to morph to a square, circle, rectangle or triangle.
If I were to create each transition manually, I would end up with 5x4=20 scenes. Is there a way that I can just assign each shape to its own frame, and deploy actionscript to set in motion the transitions from one frame to the 4 other possible frames? I am very grateful to anyone to just point me in the right direction,
im writing AS3 under linux and as such do not have access to ANY of the fl.* packages, including tweens, motions, special animations and components. I can only use Math.* and XY Grid Coordinates to calculate motion manually.
I can make movement of sprites fairly easily on a coordinate system, but this restricts how the path can go. Usualy only an up,down, left, right movements for the simplest math. I suppose this could be expanded to move in more varied directions but its not quite what im looking for.
I would like to be able to draw an invisible line that a shape can follow. Then it can have curves or bends in it without problem. I want to then start the sprite at the 1st pixel of the line and set its next coorinate based on where the line is at, but at 10px down it (and so on) till it reaches the end of the line. Is it possible because I cant think of a way? Are there any other good PureAs3 motion tutorials around?
I'm getting the following error: Motion tweening will not occur on layers with ungrouped shapes or on layers with more than one group or symbol. I don't have any ungrouped shapes (it's all text), each layer has 5 instances of only one symbol (keyframes), no objects are grouped and text is all static text.
When watching the animation, the first word (web) looks fine, on the second word (design) the tween fails on the last couple of frames of that clip (the blur filter disappears), the third word (and) is OK, and on the forth word (development) the blur filter is not applied to the last 16 frames of that clip.I broke each animation into its own MC thinking that was causing the issue, but that didn't fix anything.
I want to create an xml editor UI in flex.Basically I want to present the xml in a textarea.Users can then edit the xml and save it in database. Also, based on logged in user's privilege, the level of editing allowed varies.A normal user can edit the attribute values as well as node values, but not attribute names and node names.
[Code]...
Normal user can only edit id values('1','2','3'),country values('aaaa','aaaa6','aaaa4') and user names('XASD','XASQWED','XASDRQQ').But not node names('users','user') and attribute names('id','country').
I prefer to present the XML to the user as in an editor like interface and restrict editing there, rather than using a grid interface in which attribute names and values are listed in separate columns and enable editing for value column only.
Does anyone know of a free flash text editor. Something that I can put on my website to update the text without going into the flash file and reuploading.
