I am in the process of creating an all-flash website for my best friend.It is for his music group and he would like to be able to update the dates on the upcoming events page every so often.s there a fairly easy way for me to show him how to do this, or should I just scrap the half-made flash site and opt for an html site?
View 1 RepliesOK, what's the process for creating a component in as3? Not AS2. If you ask anyone, they seem to refer you to as2 documentation. Also, I am strictly working with flash pro cs3 and have never used flex. I have lots of components from all the time with as2, but now need to convert everything over to as3. Or maybe, that's not possible and you have to still use both in some manner?

I'm trying to get a MovieClip to work, so when i roll over it, another movieclip shows up, and if i then roll onto the new movieclip(no longer on the old, in which case a function drags back the new movie clip) the movieclip will still stay.

Ok so my website is a basic portfolio site. the interface is as follows: on the right is a box shape...to the left are my buttons and on the top is my logo and such. now for my coding questions.
1. I want a gallery to appear in the box showing my work
2. My buttons are named "Photoshop", "Illustrator", and "Indesign", i would like to have it so when you click on each button a new window gallery will appear in the box to show my work for each pogram
3. How do i insert my images? Do i just place them in my library in Flash? Do i use dreamweaver?

I am a very basic user on adobe flash, basically all I use Flash for at this moment is to create animated gif or basic SWF website banners. The problem that I am encountering at this moment is that when I export to an animated GIF the image quality becomes pixelated (see sample image below), where if i export the same work to an SWF it appears normal, I have tried several different combinations on the settings when saving the GIF but everytime I get the same results.
I would only use SWF formats but our website does not support SWF in every section.

View 0 RepliesThis is my first time using Flash to create a website. I am not familiar with Action Script, its functions classes etc., however I am familiar in programming in JAVA. I will be using ActionScript 3 and Flash CS5. (I have Flash CS4 also if needed). I am trying to create a website with a scrolling background that has 4 different scenes. I have attached an image to illustrate my idea. There will be a user interface, consisting of 4 buttons, which will be on stage at all times. Each of the button will correspond to a different scene of the background. So if the user clicks on the third button, the background will slide itself until the third scene appears on the stage.
Questions in mind:
How would the coding be like? I am planning to apply it to the button. So the background should shift ___ amount of pixels to the left or right depending on which scene the user is currently in. So if background is currently at position 800,0 (so the user is currently in scene 2) and the user clicks on 4th button. The background should move -1600 so the 4th scene will appear on stage. I am guessing there is 16 different cases I have to address. Assuming if that works, how would I also move the other objects on the scenes of background? Such as links to email address or my portfolio.

View 6 RepliesCurrently I'm working with Flash CS3 but can upgrade to 4 . . .I'm wondering if there is a way to speed up the process of animating certain things. For instance, if I make an animated subject and then want to make ten or twenty from the same template with the same objects, but each object will follow a different animated path in the new animation, i. e., in the new swf file.
Should I rely on using code to animate objects? I'm trying to avoid repeatedly dragging the same movie clips from the library to the timeline and setting tweening each time. Sometimes I need to do this action 50 or 60 times per animation, and it's the same two or three movie clips each time--it's very tedious. Also, each animated movie clip must be in sync with music . . .
I want to create a flash swf file that will store a token in Local Shared Object. What do I need to do to read that token and look it up in the database on the back end? Is this possible at all?
here is a possible scenario:
User visits my web page A token is generated on the server and stored in the database Token is then saved in LSO User leaves the site (maybe shuts down his computer) and comes back later Token is read, located in the database and the user is recognized (lets say that token is a foreign key that links to other user data stored in the db)
I researched this for quite a while and all I find is that flash can use LSO to store read data for flash movie... Does this mean that the data can not be accessed by the server?
I'm trying to fetch some data from php to flash and print it in a dynamic text field. I know this might be a silly question but i cant seem to work out how to get flash to process the code text_field.text = data.return_msg; without it needing an event listener.So i want the code to be processed as soon as flash discovers it basically.this is what i have at the moment:

I've got twenty .swf files and respectively .as extensions of them. In each file there's my e-mail, but I don't have access to that e-mail anymore, so I want to edit each file to remove it. Is there any way I can change my e-mail in twenty files and compile them afterwards in an automate process via some script ?
