Creating Animated GIF Or Basic SWF Website Banners
Aug 14, 2009
I am a very basic user on adobe flash, basically all I use Flash for at this moment is to create animated gif or basic SWF website banners. The problem that I am encountering at this moment is that when I export to an animated GIF the image quality becomes pixelated (see sample image below), where if i export the same work to an SWF it appears normal, I have tried several different combinations on the settings when saving the GIF but everytime I get the same results.
I would only use SWF formats but our website does not support SWF in every section.
What is a good structure for a complete Flash website. ex.
1) Index.swf ( which is just a container and loader for the actual SWF site content)
2) Main.swf (the main content of the site that gets loaded in by Index.swf)
Should the index.swf load in several SWF's , like navigation file , news reel file , etc....Also , if anyone know of a web site that has this information or knows of a book that covers this material ,
I have some code below which creates a background and buttons for a basic website. The site consists of 8 sections, with photos, text, etc.I am trying to "_Alpha" fade the entire page upon page Load. I want each page to have the "_Alpha" effect. So I need a function or a correct call to place on each page's code. For some reason, my code below works for the entire page and one button, but the rest of the buttons, still show up instantly. Notice a few lines below where I actually do my tween call, "//Alpha Ease-In". I am using "this" for my tween, but I have tried "_root", and even each button "_root.but1", etc. but it still seems to give me partial results. Anyone know how to correctly tween the entire page upon load?[code]
i am working on my a portfolio site for my friend who is a photographer and am looking to create a basic menu that when any menu item is moused over it enlarges and the other menu items move to make room for this enlarged menu item.
I've started using the 3D capabilities of Flash CS4 recently, particularly with respect to transforming the rotation and translation properties of movie clips with AS3. Which is fine for planar shapes, but I want to know how to create true 3D objects that I can similarly manipulate. The problem is, that although there are plenty of excellent tutorials covering simple changes in X, Y and Z properties, there seems to be a distinct lack of tutorials explaining in simple terms how to go about creating, say, a basic cube that can be displayed and transformed dynamically. Adobe's Flash CS4 files mention perspective projection and the Matrix3D object, but I don't find these section particularly clear. What I would like to do, for starters, is create a simple cube to which I can apply x, y and z axis transformations in the same way I can to movie clips.
I've had no problem creating preloaders for a basic page. I have a gallery with a preloader on the main page. It works fine. You can click thumbnails to see large photos that are on separate swf files. Everything worked fine when there were no preloaders on the individual swfs. But later I added preloaders to each individual swf file and now they do not load - just a big fat "0% Loaded" screen.
I'm doing something wrong. Perhaps the preloader should be contained within the loader that is displaying the individual swf files? Maybe the individual swfs do not need their own preloaders? I'm over my head in AS 3.0
I have created a small application with three different slides.
-one at frame 1 which acts as a Home page -one at frame 2 which acts as a Gallery page -one at frame 3 which acts as a Contact Page
On the contact page i have the following 'skeleton' code.. which i have to follow..[code]i need basic validation such as text lentgh, and also correct email format (i.e. containing a '@'
how to add a animated intro to my website. I have a pre loader setup already. Would I have to have another pe loader for the animation?, i'm completely boggled I would additionally like to provide a skip option for impatient viewers.
I have a few questions on creating some animated buttons for a nav. There are 2 actions I want to trigger on moue over. If I want to use a static (PNG) image that I created in Photoshop for the actual button, can I use that? I want to smoothly slide button down on mouse-over and slide back up on mouse off. If I push part of the button off the "canvas" (sorry, this is coming from a Photoshop guy) will it disappear in the final animation? Another way to put that is, if I put an animated element off the white area, will it no longer show up in the movie (.swf) when it's published?
For the second part; you can see a bit of what I want to do if you look at this website's top Nav: [URL] I need the "light" above the button and it's going to be on another colored <div> so I can't set one solid BG color for my flash document. But I want to achieve the effect of the "bar" lighting up above the button and the actual button sliding down upon moue over.

i am trying to create an animated button, using a Movie Clip.
1. I create a Rectangle with a fill.
2. I convert it to a Symbol (Movie)3. Double Click on the graphic to create it's on Timeline.4. Why do i then need to convert to a symbol again? It will not animate unless i convert that timeline button again.
i've got a looping mp3 that i want to put on my website with a dummy animated equalizer, the problem is the coding for the mp3 is in as2 and my site is as3, I've been trying to change the coding to as3 so i can put it on my site but when I solve one part something else doesnt work
I followed a tutorial to have a movie clip work as an animated menu for a website. One of the functions is set up as follows:
function do_this() { this.gotoAndPlay("frame label"); gotoAndPlay("frame label"); }
So the animated menu is going to a specific frame in the movie clip while the site is going to the appropriate page. What I can't figure out is how to freeze the menu in the state that it goes to with this function so that it doesn't revert back once the mouse rolls out of the hit area. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Creating a dynamic scroll panel using two objects from my library and accessing images from a folder using some basic XML. The ScrollPanel loads fine, the 6 instances of the empty movieclip holders load. The function that traces the instance of the movieClip names is working. My trouble is accessing the instances of the movies to load the loaders in order to view the jpgs called from the folder. I receive an "access of undefined property" message if I type thumbLoad0.addChild(pic1ldr); etc, which you will see at the very bottom.
I want to make a background in an animation that looks like stars going by as a spaceship flies forward.I would like to make stars appear in the distance and then zoom by, very much like the windows screensaver that shows a black screen with stars continually moving toward the viewer.
Can it be done in flash with some of the glow filters? Or is this probably being created in something like After Effects or Motion and then being pulled in as JPEG StillsI've looked through some tutorial sites, but most of the animation tutorials are pretty basic... and I'm not sure what to really call the effect...making searching for tutorials or forum posts a bit tricky
I am currently creating animated buttons that have a movie clip inside them (including tweens). I created a button and copied this six times. I would like to change the colour of each individual button, but when I do this it changes the colours of all the buttons. How can I do this so it changes the individual the colour of a single button.
[URL]..the animated glowing effect on the buttons. One, I can't get any mouse events to respond in the skin. I can't seem to find others with this problem. In the below code, startAnimation is never getting called when a mouse over occurs, but the event is apparently getting registered. To test this code, simply add skinClass="ButtonSkin" to a button declaration in your main application, the code below being the ButtonSkin.mxml file.
[Code]...
EDIT I found out why mouse events weren't firing. The button apparently has mouseChildren false by default, which specifically prevents events from firing lower than itself. Using parent.mouseChildren = true; in the constructor fixes this issue. On to the next part of the question: continuous animation.
My problem is that I have made the tutorial named "Creating Animated Buttons" but when I set the text (b1.buttText.buttonText.text = "portfolio";) de sample text is disappeared and the new one doesn't come. I have traced the variable b1.buttText.buttonText.text and it is the "portfolio".
I am trying to create a tool tip for my app, that will be a simple text that contain information about the button I am over. I would like the text to start with animation, and after animation follow the mouse. Please enter this site, you can see here an example : [URL]. See that when you enter a country, it starts with a animation from the right, and then follows the user's mouse position until he exits the country. I am quite new to AS, I will be very glad if someone can explain what is the best approach for this. I am able to make the animation with the tween class, but was not able to make it follow the mouse after the animation ends. On the other hand I was also able making it follow my mouse but was not able to make it start with animation.
I'm creating an animated background/flash animation, in short I have several tweened pieces all moving/swinging around and I want them all to loop at the end of their individual loops. Each piece is on its own layer) I have been using gotoAndPlay(2); (I'm using a preloader so frame 2 is the start). The problem is (If I'm correct here) is the first layer to reach the end runs the "go to and play" resetting everything!. I want each layer to act independantly. Is there a different version of gotoAndPlay(2); that will work or am I looking at things like nested animations/importing individual fla's ect (all of which goes over my head).
I've developed a touch screen flash application for a sneakers (shoe) shop. It has a 'find a shoe' section, which isn't causing problems, and an 'about' section, which is.The about section is a heavily animated history of sneaker culture. It's animated via the timeline, not via AS3. The problem is that with prolonged use of the about section, idle CPU usage grows, and memory usage grows, eventually making the app unusably slow.
I've made a 'minified' app that does nothing other than create/delete 50 instances of my 'about' movie clip - it doesn't even add those instances to the stage. I've cut basically all code out of the 'about' class, which is shown below:
I am in the process of creating an all-flash website for my best friend. It is for his music group and he would like to be able to update the dates on the upcoming events page every so often.s there a fairly easy way for me to show him how to do this, or should I just scrap the half-made flash site and opt for an html site?
Rather than build a controller for each video on our website, my IT dept wants me to build one controller that all videos can access. How do I do that and do I need a script? I know nothing about scripting and I'm a newbie in video publishing
I understand that there are many methods to creating a slideshow on a website, but that isn't my question. What I really want to know is what is the most mainstream method of creating a slideshow on a website. What do you recommend? So far I've seen Jquery, Javascript, CSS & DHTML, and Flash. The first thing that comes to mind for me is flash, then second Javascript.
I want to create an auction website in Flash using Action Script. Any suggestions how I can go about doing that? If anyone has any code snippets for auction website
