Actionscript 3 :: Error #1006 RemoveChild Is Not A Function. Timer Delay RemoveChild

Mar 29, 2010

I'm trying to build a conditional statement that will addChild and removeChild at different Timer Delays. Before I go any further, I thought, I should mention that I'm usinig TweenMax to ease the alpha of ease Child from 1 to 0 and back during the process to imitate a fade-in/out.

I'm getting issue with only one line - inside a conditional statement.It's running "OK". The movie runs as I want it, but the remove/addChild transitions are not at the speed I want it at. I am getting an error message in the output, but other than that, the movie runs fine.

I use NetStream to play media file. It includes pause, resume functions. When running in the flash player, there isn't any problem. However, when embedding this swf file in web page, there is following problem. - If clicking [pause] button and then (in short period) clicking [resume] button to continue playing, no problem. But, if clicking [resume] button after longer period (bigger than playing file's time), the swf file will start playing at the next media file in the list, NOT at the time that was paused.

I would like to send the source code link: [URL]

RemoveChild Function Is Not Working

Mar 14, 2009

I'm working on a pretty simple flash application which basically plays a music clip downloaded from a web URL, and makes a stick man dance. I have it all working fine, however, I've used the addChild function on the start button to add the mc onto the stage, however, when I applied the removeChild function to take it off again, I get an error telling me that it hasn't got a caller.Here's the script:[code]I've had my tutor look at it, and she can't work it out either, but I do get the feeling that she's not much wiser on Flash than I am.

ActionScript 1/2 :: SlotMachine / Match Game Scoring

Sep 24, 2010

I am working on a game that is set up like a slot machine. The first box contains a name, the second box cotains a piece of information about the person and the third box contains another piece of info. Each box has a movie clip in it that contains 10 frames, each frame has text in it (a name or piece of information). There are up and down arrows above the second and third box as the user can control what piece of info is in that box using the arrows (if the user clicks the up arrow they go up 1 fram to different info....if down down a frame to new info.) The first box is not user controled, it has a button that randomly generates the name the player is given with a spin animation.

The goal of the game is to match all three boxes the random name with the 2 user controlled pieces of info. If this happens I want the player to receive 20 points. However, if the player only matches one of the pieces of info to the random name then they should only get 10 points. If they do not match ny pieces then no points are awarded.

I figured the best way to do this would be to give the corresponding correct answers and names matching variable names and set it so if you have 2 matching variables you get 10 points and if you have 3 matching variables you get 20 points (no points awarded for 1 variable because 1 variable alone would be the name). My problem is that I dont know how to assign a frame a variable number and I also dont know if its even possible to do something like this. Am I on the right track or is there a much better way to set up scoring?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating Scoring System Through Frames

I am trying to create a quiz in Flash CS5. I have coded all the quiz so that it is done in different frames, such as the start screen in frame 1, then the five questions in frames, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (one for each question). How would I create a scoring system so that if the user got a question right it would add 1 to the score but continue scoring through to the next frame? It needs to have a pass rate of 4 out of 5 correct answers.

It is called mc, frameNav and it comes with the Flash quiz templates. The AS associated with that mc is below.

Professional :: Creating Online Quiz With Scoring Results

Aug 8, 2010

I had an existing client ask me about the possibility of building an online quiz. I am fairly adept at working "inside" Flash, but always run into problems when trying to export data "from" Flash anywhere else. I am also trying to figure out if Flash is the best application to build this quiz (I see other possible apps like Captivate, but don't know if they are necessary for what I am trying to do).

What I need to do:
I need to create a Login screen to attach the final text score to an individual.
Create (50) separate screens for 50 questions with multiple answers for each (simple enough) with submit buttons once the answer(s) are chosen.

Each time an answer is submitted it has a certain "weight" toward the total score (which I am guessing that I could track into a variable inside Flash?) When the test is complete all I need to do is send that Person's Name/Total Score to a database. Is this something best accomplished using Flash?

Scrolling The Timeline Glitch?

Jul 8, 2009

I'm trying to create a scrolling timeline using a very (horizontally) long image and a scroll thumb that can be dragged right and left. When I first open the .swf file, the position of the image is correct (the far left side is on the stage). But once I click on the thumb and release it, even if I don't drag it, the image jumps as if it was dragged and suddenly I'm looking at another part of the timeline. When I drag the thumb all the way to the left, it can't go any farther left to the beginning and it's just stuck at where it jumped, but I can drag the thumb more to the right and see more of the timeline perfectly fine. Also, when I scroll all the way to the right, the timeline goes past its end and then there's blank white space. There's obviously some space missing at the beginning that should make up for that blank space at the end.

why it jumps like that and why I can't drag it back to the beginning of the timeline. In fact, I used this exact same code for another project and the timeline worked perfectly fine. All I did was use a different image for this one. I'm completely stumped on this.

Here's the actionscript I'm using:

Quote:

stop();
var thumbLeft = thumb._x;
var thumbRight = Stage.width - thumb._width;
var thumbDistance = thumbRight - thumbLeft;

Graphic Symbol Glitch?

I've created a small animation containing a few images which i have converted to graphic symbols so I can alpha-tween them. I tweened the first image then copy/pasted the frames to do the next using the swap symbol function. When swapping the symbol I selected the desired symbol and pressed okay but nothing happened - I then dragged the desired symbol out of the library and onto the stage then deleted the previous symbol. As soon as I did that the new symbol I had just dragged out switched back to the previous symbol.

Professional :: Loading Images Glitch?

Oct 25, 2010

There's a lot more going on in this script than simply loading images.  First I am dynamically creating the movieclips into which the images are being loaded.  I am also dynamically creating masks which are used to make a refelction movie clip (basically an identicle clip that is inverted and place below the clip that is right-side up), and all the clips and masks are added to and positioned within a movie clip on the starge.  The problem is that even when verifying that each mask is in the right place and that the inverted clip has the mask as its mask (which are the last operations carried out by the script called by the image loader's Event.COMPLETE handler)  I still have missing reflections.  Usually the missing reflctions are the first reflections e.g. 1 and 2.

Css :: Flash - Glitch With Uploadify's HideButton?

Mar 27, 2012

I'm trying to change the way an Uploadify button looks using the solutions posted here. Instead of changing the Flash file, I want to do it with CSS.

What this involves is wrapping the file input and flash object in a div:

[Code]...

It shows a bizarre blue rectangle over the top of my background-image. Does anyone know why this is appearing? I've tried fiddling with the CSS properties of the object (visibility and hidden) - both hide the entire swf object (and so the blue rectangle), which is useless since it needs to be visible for users to click on.
