I replace div holding flashplayer with blank and my swf movie/buttons disappear. All good. However, when I right click the mouse over the area, the flashplayer is indicated as still being there. How is this possible if the contents of the div is replaced with " "? The flashplayer, not recognizing Z-index interferew with drop down menues.
View 5 RepliesI picked up enough AS3 recently to create some advertising banners and they work perfectly when I test the movie within CS3 by using ctrl+enter. I uploaded the created swf on the website and experienced lots of weird problems like child mcs stopping to play after a while or movies not playing till the end etc.. On some movies, they will play properly if you reload the website, on some others (the one which doesnt play till the end) that wont fix the problem either. The banners' filesizes are also around 8KB for example and include only text and vectors.
I published my movie by letting Flash create an html file, and the exact same problems are occurring there aswell. I mean I got strict mode and everything turned on in Flash but I'm not getting any errors at all when testing the movie. I also dont see any visual errors. It's just the swf acting differently in a browser.
So I'm trying to figure out what the difference between the flashplayer used by CS3 and the one in firefox is for example. I got the latest flashplayer (10 r22) on firefox and it seems that CS3 is using the flashplayer 9 (I'm not sure about this but its the player I found in the CS3 folder).I'm using timeline based tweens (I know it sucks and I did this mostly on the first banners I created and started using the tween classes built in Flash later on when I learned more AS3) so wondering if this is the problem.

View 5 RepliesIm currently try to construct a flash presentation that will have several different buttons on the same stage, and each button when clicked will make particular objects appear on the stage. Then once each button is clicked again it will make the particular objects connected to it disappear from the stage. Each button and the objects it makes appear / disappear is seperate from all the other buttons actions.
construct the actionscript for this presentation as im finding it quite complicated to have several things going off on the same stage at the same time. Im currently working in Flash CS4 actionscript3.

I'm still a rookie in flash and I'm having a little bit of trouble with some actionscript. I've gotten as far as placing the buttons and assign the correct actionscript for them to work. Everything is working fine with the buttons activating the external .swf into a blank movie clip in the main movie. Ony thing is, I would like the external movie assigned to the first button to open once the movie is loaded.
I thought by using the same actionscript i used on the button {and removing the on(release) tag} and placing on the first frame of the main movie would help, but it doesn't.
Whenever I am trying to open a swf file (any swf file) or test a movie from the flash ide the internal player is blank and output has the msg error opening url "the path of the swf file here".This is not a problem that has to do with loading external files etc. It just refuses to open any swf file and ofc or test any movie cause it keeps saying error in opening url even in blank movies.
The simplest thing New File -> AS3 -> Test Movie -> Error in opening url I can publish the movie with no problem at all and I can run all the swf files outside of flash ide. I can debug movie from flash ide. I can html preview it from flash ide but i can't just hit cmd+enter to test the fraking movie.
I'm just a beginer with actionscript, in this case actionscript 2. I have two mc buttons mc_one and mc_two. When I click on mc_one apear a submenu, and when I click on mc_two apears another submenu in the same place than the mc_one submenu.
I know how to make disapear the previous submenu by tell _visible = false, but I also want to finish and bring back the submenu in their initial position in order to not to wait that the function finishes for open the new one. Maybe something like null or reset the function that make the other submenu turn up with no problems.
i am using flash 8 professional and making my portfolio site using xml with flash. when you click the red buttons on the right, thumbnails appear on the left (and when you click those, more thumbnails appear, and then you click those and the image appears.) on my machine it works properly, BUT when i upload it, the thumbnails appear and then erase themselves (all except the first two). it's inconsistent and totally weird. i changed some of the code, tried messing with the publishing settings, and re-uploaded and nothing changed. a friend who works at an actionscript company said it doenst make sense that it works differently on my machine than online. she also confirmed that the way i embedded the swf in the html is correct

View 19 RepliesI have a very simple flash movie. It has 6 images that fade in and out in a loop. I created the movie and when I play it in Flash using Control > Play (with loop playback) it all works perfectly, but when I publish it there is a blank space at the end of the movie before it loops through again. It only lasts a fraction of a second but it breaks up the smooth image transitions. I have checked and there are no layers that go past the last image, and there is a keyframe on the last frame of the last image.
View 3 RepliesWhile testing the movie within Flash,the Test Movie window randomly goes blank, showing the stage color. The movie is still running, there's no error, it's just blank. When I resize the Test Movie window,everything reappears... Until a few seconds later, when it snaps back to blank... so I resize, it reappears, it disappears, I resize, it reappears, it disappears... over and over.Resizing even just one pixel is enough to get it to come back. Sometimes it happens every few seconds.
This might be related to another issue: If I Test Movie with the Bandwidth Profiler on, Flash CS4 doesn't resize the window correctly to fit my entire movie in it, resulting in a big blank space underneath the Bandwidth Profiler, and that same amount of space being cutoff the bottom of my movie. I haven't seen anything like this in 10yrs of Flash development. This is a Mac Pro, 8-core. The graphics card is ATI Radeon HD XT 2600. 6GB RAM. 10.5.3-10.5.7
The same FLA works without any issues on CS4/XP. The FLA saved to CS3 works without any issues on CS3/OSX and CS3/XP (same machine).I have all but given up on CS4 for OSX. Between the crappy framerates, the crashing, and not being able to TEST MOVIE, I just avoid CS4 on OSX and use CS3 on OSX or CS4 on XP.

I cant get the swf to load into my placeholder movieclip "gallery_ph"... instead it just opens a new window with the loaded swf inside.

I have a main timeline with a blank movie in it so that I can click the menu and various swf's load into it. This all works perfectly. Then, I have a contacts page with a form that sends to php which all works perfectly. The thing that doesn't work is that when I click submit the thank you frame immediately afterwards doesn't play. The code I've typed is: On the Submit Button:

This all works fine in Publish preview but once uploaded to the servers it fails unless you type [url]....then it works fine. Is this something to do with layers and levels etc?
how would i go about using a draw code(Code that allows users to draw within the flash) and restricting it to a certain size and location on the movie? for instance a 75x75 box located at xPos=200 and yPos = 150?
Like would I have to use a blank movie clip for the position? then make an invisible box within it to restrict drawing area?

I have a flash movie on my web page and I have made some of the text inside the movie into buttons. The movie only takes up a portion of the page. I would like to replace the movie with another movie when somebody clicks the button.

I have an external swf load when one rolls over a movieclip. That works fine. But I also want the external clip that loaded to go away after they roll off of that. This is what I have for code:

View 2 RepliesNot sure why this is happening but everytime I test a movie (CTRL+ENTER) in Flash movie it produces a blank white screen. I even created a new Flash file with a simple Shape but it still gives me that blank white screen when I run test movie. It does, however, run correctly when I click the *.swf that got generated. I'm not sure if my work recently upgraded me to a newer version of Flash Player.
