Actionscript 3 - Flash Crash (ends Up In A Restart Loop) When Loading An External Swf?

Jun 30, 2010

Im working with FlashDevelop and have two main projects, all pure AS3 projects.When trying to load my second project from my main project I get all kinds of errors.The Main class of the main project extends Sprite and the Main class in the "to-be-imported" project extends MovieClip. Looking at the loading of the swf in the debug window in FD it all seems fine:

[SWF] 'pathToSwf'secondProject.swf - 410 626 bytes after decompression.

If i try to assign the loaded swf to a newly created MovieClip I get a coercion failiure:

swfContent = loader.content; // =>

Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Main@46c0201 to flash.display.MovieClip.

So, typecasting the loaded content like so:

swfContent = loader.content as MovieClip;

removes that error but then I fall into the next pit as I try to call addChild:

Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null.

Trying to get around the issue I tried to add the loader directly into the container where I want to show the external swf. This is when the real interesting problems begin:

targetContainer.addChild(loader);

My main application now hang, restarting in a never ending loop. How can my external swf be loaded but then again be null.It works perfectly fine when I run the external swf by itself...

ActionScript 2.0 :: Play Background Sound And Keep It Continuos

Oct 27, 2009

I have applied sound to my website in flash. I have different pages designed in different scenes. And sound control is present on each and every scene. I browsed through the net and found a tutorial which showed how to play background sound and keep it continuos throughout the navigation via different scenes. Inicially i had a problem where the sound restarted when i went to a new scene but now that problem is solved . My current problem is, when my site loads the music starts to play which is fine. Then when i press on the sound button to stop it . The action is to Start Sound and when i press it again It stops. But When i stop it and go to any other button and navigate to some other scene , the sound restarts.The sound sequence needs to be Stop on the first click and Play on the second.But i also want the sound to autostart when site loads. And i because i have different scenes i have applies a complicated action scrip from a tutorial.which goes as follows:-On the first frame of sound layer i have this action script --->

Flash Picture Slideshow To Run In Continuous Loop

Jan 29, 2011

I'm a flash newbie and have created a slideshow so that all the photos fade in and fade out. I've done it so they kind of fade into each other. So the timelines on each layer overlap. I want this slideshow running as a continuous loop so I've put a gotoandPlay(1) function at the end of the movie. My problem is the final image (number7) fades out but I don't know how to get it fading into the first photo again. So after the 7th image (the 2 bridesmaids) the movie completely fades out and then starts again. Is there a way I could make the first and last photos fade into each other rather than the last one fading out and starting again. The movie can be viewed here- sorry it takes a little time to get to the last image! [URL].

FLVPlayback Causing Slideshow To Loop Uncontrollably?

Jul 3, 2009

I can't seem to figure out how to get my slideshow to stop looping after I imported an external video. It will no longer stop at frame one, it simply plays all the way through the frames with no pause even though I have a stop(); on each frame.

The file functions properly until I added the FLVPlayback component.  It was looping even when the FLVPlayback component was in the library and exported for actionscript and in frame 1.  After unchecking these boxes it won't loop, however that all changes as soon as I drag an instance of the component on stage or inside a movie clip on stage.

The flash presentation I'm working on is designed so 1 frame is one slide and I need the video to be playable from 1 slide (frame).  Even after placing stop actions everywhere I could think of it still loops straight through with the FLVPlayback component.

Professional :: Trim A Sound And Then Let It Loop In A Slideshow?

Mar 19, 2010

I want to trim a sound and then let it loop in a slideshow. The sound -- a roaring crowd at a soccer game-- should loop as a slideshow plays. As the movie repeats the sound should continue to play. It doesn't have to be in sync.

This works if I use Streaming, but there's a gap at the beginning of the movie as if the sound was being loaded over and over again.

I've been advised not to use Streaming, but if I don't, the sound is reproduced in its entirety-- there is no trimming.

ActionScript 3.0 :: SlideShow Navigation Works Until You Loop Back To First Frame?

May 23, 2010

I've got an interesting issue with the actionscript in my file. I've created a slide show with 27 labeled frames - they've been labeled "frame 1", "frame 2", "frame 3", etc... My issue is the first time everything works perfectly, if you hit next or previous. It goes to the correct frame. On the last frame if you click next it should take you back to "frame 1" and basically loop through all the frames again if you keep pressing next. The problem is it goes back to frame 1, and then next doesn't work on this frame. I don't understand what's going on considering the first time around - these frames work perfectly.Here's the code on frame 1:

I have just recently returned to flash after a very looooooooong time! I moved out of the flash world a few years ago and have been working in design for print. A friend has asked me to help create a flash slideshow for them. I know how to do this using older versions of flash but there seems to be a quicker way in CS3.I have selected from the opening menu, Flash Slide Presentation.I have created my slideshow and added transitions.Everything looks great however I can only progress the slideshow using the arrow keys.My question is...Using this slideshow setting can I set my slideshow to loop through the slides automatically instead of progress with the arrow keys?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Incorporate In A Xml Based Slideshow(slideshow.zip) To Show Image Loading Process?

Feb 6, 2008

I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.

1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.

But this script only restarts the main time line. I have nested movieclips that don't get restarted. Is there a simple solution to this?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Restart Audio After StopAllSounds?

Jul 10, 2009

I have rather large project that contains several swfs flvs with audio. The project is published in Captivate (which renders a main swf file). After the preloader screen, a lot of the audio files start playing at once at the beginning of the presentation. I have tried inserting an swf with AS2.0 command "stopAllSounds". It works as intended and stops all the cacophony. But then, none of my audio plays throughout the 7 minute project. Does anyone know how I can restart the audio?

ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Restart Flash Animation

Jul 7, 2011

I have tried to Google this but all results are for resetting variables, fields and other code-related things. I am trying to find an answer via the animation part of Flash for this question: How can I restart my animation? (well, the file anyway.) I mean, pretty much like closing+opening the file again, you know.

Secondly, since I am new to ActionScript why isn't this code working?
var has_pressed:Boolean;
has_pressed = false;
Button1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler);
function fl_MouseClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
has_pressed = true;
} if(has_pressed == false) {
stop();
}

The stop(); part of it works fine! But even when I click on Button1, it still stops the animation , or at least it isn't working. That code is supposed to basically stop the animation until the button is pressed. I guess there might be another way to do it, but it practically is a 'play' button.
