I made a video in After Effect and export it to flash as a FLV video.. and write de code to load it into flash.. but I need it to loop.. Here is the code
[Code]...
I used to dynamically set some variables using a FOR loop kinda like so PHP Code:
//Sorry, from memory
var possibleValues:Array = ["red","green","blue","yellow"];
for (i=0;i<possibleValues._length;i++){
_root["colorNumber"+i] = possibleValues[i];
}
Second question, using that code in a function would set the variables at the root level making them available throughout the timeline. Without "_root" how do I get that variable available to everything?
I'm planning to implement as sound that will simply play in the background of my site. The sound file is just under 30 seconds in length. Obviously I want this to loop ... can I set it to do so using ActionScript? If so, would you mind providing me with some sample code?
View 3 RepliesI am having a bit of a nightmare with a site i am trying to build at the moment and would be most grateful for any help. I have a menu bar which is made by looping through an array of the menu options (and submenus) and then attaching a menuitem movieclip in each case (then setting the text). The menuitem movieclip contains a dynamic text field and also actionscript to draw the background depending on the current settings (colour, border etc).I have a variable in my root fla file called menuwidth and this is used within the menuitem movieclip to define the width of the menuitem. When i set this to one value it works absolutely fine and creates the menus accordingly. i can change this to whatever size i want (including calculating the size of the largest option and then setting it to that, to ensure all options fit).
I have been trying to code it so that the menu options can be different sizes (in the event of a horizontal menu) so that you can have one that is wider than another. The code has become quite long (due to submenu and other functionality) but in a nutshell it is:[code]Instead when i use the code above all of the menuitem movieclips end up the same width as tthe final one (so if there are 5 menu options and the starting length is 50 then the ending length is 75 then all of the movieclips are 75 wide). When i try and debug it and check the value of _root.menuwidth inside the menuitem movieclip it states that it is set at 75 every time with no variation at all.It is almost as if it doesn't run the attach movie commands until the loop has finished, at which point all of them execute (and _root.menuwidth has already increased to it's highest possible value), but i can't see how this would make any sense.Obviously there are a number of other options that could be at fault, but i am trying to whittle it down and would be most grateful if anyone could explain to me if the above logic holds true and that increasing the _root.menuwidth value within the loop just before callin attachMovie should cause each one to be progressively bigger?
I'm trying to set up a loop for a movieclip btn with the instance name "btnEnter". btnEnter is loading XML content from a file called menuDef.xml
Here is the code I have inplace so far,
//CODE//
var link: URLRequest = new URLRequest("menuDef.xml");var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(link);var i:intvar myXML:XML = new XML();//call the loaders load function to load the specified URL
[Code]....
Right now I have only the item_spacing and item_count variables in place, but I'm not sure of my next step?

I have a script which dictates alpha on rollout and onroll but I want to set a default alpha setting for images which are loaded via xml. Here's a tidbit:

I've tried combinations of tn_group["tn"+i].tn_button.tn_pic._alpha = 85; and such but I'm still a big newbie
I have created animated presentations (since now, I have just videos) for my seminars at the university with cinema 4D and I added some effects with After Effects (CS5). Now, I want to build an interactive presentation. That means:
- The (video projector) presentation starts with a video in a loop.
- When I click a button on the mouse/keyboard, the video finishes the loop until the end and
- show a transition video and
- start the next loop and so on...

I have 35 movieclips, named s1, s2, s3 etc, depending on the value of currentDisplay, I would like to set a movieclip visible property to true while the others are set to false, I have tried the following:
Code:
for (i=1; i<36; i++){
trace(i);[code]....
but I receive an error message: 1083: Syntax error: dot is unexpected. I assume it is referring to the dot before visible.
Flash 8 duplicating movie clips and setting 3 nodes from XML. I am trying to read in an xml with 3 parameters; 2 links and one text field for a caption. What am I doing wrong this time?

I am trying to have "bMC" load into and repeater for however many XML props there are. within "bMC" are two MC's that on click would open window or grab file and One Text field which would load in caption. For some reason the "bMC" isnt even loading at all. Attached is the .Fla
does setting the fixed property of a Vector to true before entering a loop is better for performance?
View 6 RepliesMy company has 50 flv files that we regularly show to clients. I was planning to set up a website that had all 50 videos on it and the client could pick and choose what videos they want to watch by selecting thumbnails. The problem is that our account executives want to be able to choose what videos are available for them to watch, so they can't watch the entire library. I can't be chaning the interface for each client request, so I am thinking the account excutive could select from a list of videos and send them a link that only has those thumbnails of those videos on it.
Any ideas on how this could be accomplished? It is kind of like having an interface for the account executives with a menu of movies, and then a different interface for the client to play the movies chosen for them in the order in which they choose. It would dynamically build according to the account executives selections.
I want to set value of a progress bar in an accordion but I am encountering 'setProgress is not a function' error. If I move the progress bar out of the Accordion then the error goes away and the progress bar appears fine. I want to set the progress bar eventually to {repMonitor.currentItem.threatLevel} but for now I am just testing with hypothetical threat value i.e 60
<mx:Accordion id="monAccordian" includeIn="Monitoring" x="10" y="10" width="554" height="242" change="monAccordianChange()" >
<mx:Repeater id="repMonitor" dataProvider="{monitoringArray}">
<mx:Canvas width="100%" height="100%" label="{repMonitor.currentItem.firstName+' '+ repMonitor.currentItem.lastName}" >
<mx:Image x="10" y="10" source="{repMonitor.currentItem.imageName}" width="175" height="118"/>
<s:Label x="200" y="14" text="Threat Level:"/>
<mx:ProgressBar x="200" y="30" mode="manual" label="" id="bar" width="200" creationComplete="bar.setProgress(60,100);" />

I'm loading a video using the FLVPlayback component, and I want to start the video 10 seconds in, as opposed to from the start. How would I do this? For audio it seems simple enough, but I couldn't find an easy answer for video.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to import a small .flv video to my flash file but I can't seen to find the setting to increase the import quality to 100%.
View 1 RepliesI have a project where I am bringing in one video with a cue point at the very end with the name of "End." I'm trying to have the next video play when the first video reaches that cue point. I keep getting this error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MetadataEvent. Here is the relevant code I believe:

I am trying to and I have the following message error:"the video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found."
View 1 RepliesI have a MC called Questions thats on the stage.Inside that Movie clip, there are 10 frames and four layers.The 1st layer spans all 10 frames and has a MC called logoMC and a button called nextBtn1, 2, 3, etc
The 3rd layer has frame labels for each frame: Q1, Q2, Q3, etc
The 4th layer has actions that are similar for each frame:
Code:
nextBtn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Q1btn);
function Q1btn(e:Event)
{[code]....
So what should hypothetically happen in when you click on the button, it advances to the next frame in that movie clip, and focus is set to the logo. The problem is, it isnt. I get the TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. That is pointing to the stage.focus = this.Questions.logoMC; portion of code.
I need to have an error message inside a textbox when the xml is not loaded: My code is simples and is working:

How do I check if the loadXml worked and if not show an error message inside my statusvar textfield.
Is it possible to set the frame count of a video manually in Flash BUilder 4? How is the frame length of a video determined in Flash Builder 4? I need to do this in order to trick video format converters into thinking that my video is actually x frames long instead of just 1 (my swf video is controlled completely through as3 code and thus resided on just the 1st frame). This way, the video format converters will be able to automatically (and correctly) convert my videos to another format (flv is desired). Another solution to this would be a converter that actually automatically converts based on video length rather than frame count, but I have already thoroughly searched for one and one doesn't seem to exist.
View 1 RepliesI've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)

I have an FLV player on the stage. I'm setting the source (flvplayer.source) as a variable. When the proper file is in the right location it plays perfectly. I'm trying to set up an error report that is generated when the source FLV isn't there. So far I have:
import fl.video.FLVPlayback;
import fl.video.VideoEvent;
import fl.video.MetadataEvent;
import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
flvPlayer.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, ioErrorHandler);
function ioErrorHandler(event:IOErrorEvent):void{
trace("error");};
This doesn't work for some reason. The ioErrorHandler function is never run.
Is there any possible way to set the cookie header for a URLRequest in Flash? What I have now is:
r.requestHeaders.push(new URLRequestHeader("cookie", "a=1");
And that gives me this lovely error:
ArgumentError: Error #2096: The HTTP request header cookie cannot be set via ActionScript.
Is there any way to get around this restriction? The server I am connecting to requires that some auth variables be in the cookie of the request (which worked for other implementations, such as a client on the Android platform).
is there a way to connect a Video object to a webcam installed on another computer in the Network, without setting up a streaming server?The machines can have fixed IPs and whatever, but I'm limited to LAN/WAN technology. Using AIR is possible.
View 5 RepliesI have attached a video on a frame of my website in Flash. When I preview the movie the film plays as it should.But when I export the Fla. as a Swf. file it then doesn't have the movie there anymore?It does show this error:
**Warning** The linkage identifier 'FLVPlayback' was already assigned to the symbol 'Video/FLVPlayback', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'FLVPlayback', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
I really don't know what that refers too.

Question:How do I make the clip loop?
[code]....
But I can't find their download sample And, they say click on Frame-1 and press F9 then put code snippit in after line 7 But, I see no Action Script when I click on Frame 1 and press F9... a window opens but no code appears...just a long menu on the left.
I have an fla file exported from After Effects that I am trying to get ready for a website so it loops continuously and is web ready.
Details:
- Clip needs to be rasterized and not vectorized (hence the flv format)
- Dimensions are 1400 by 514
- No Interactivity, just a simple looping 4 second clip
