ActionScript 3.0 :: Skew Image With Matrix, Top Angle Good, Bottom Flat?
Jun 15, 2011
I am trying to skew an spark Image object using a matrix. The problem I am having is that it only effects the top angle. I think it may be related to the position of the image (x and y). The top angle is prefect but the bottom is flat!
Here is a bit of code:
//imgA = pixles down from top left coord, I used arctan with oposite over adjacent to get a radian angle
//size
openImage.width = imgW; //say 200
openImage.height = imgH; //say like 300
[code]....

I have a slider which I want to use to rotate an image around it's center. This normally is easy but my problem is the clip is made dynamically and the size changes so I can't use the default registration point and I need to assign the center point before I rotate it. I found the rotateAroundExternalPoint function which rotates around a center point fine. How to get it to rotate to a certain angle and then have it stop at that angle. The rotateAroundExternalPoint increments the rotation rather then allowing me to set the angle to rotate to. Is there anyway that I can set what angle to rotate my clip to? It right now increments the rotation by the x coordinate of my slider bar (slider_position.x).
Code:
import flash.geom.Matrix;
import fl.motion.*;
var mat:Matrix = clip.transform.matrix;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,EnterFrame3);
function EnterFrame3(event:Event) {
var center_point_x = clip.height / 2
var center_point_y = clip.width / 2 //
MatrixTransformer.rotateAroundExternalPoint(mat,center_point_x,center_point_y,slider_position.x);
clip.transform.matrix = mat;
}

I'm trying to apply a GlowFilter (border) to a image and then rotate+skew it. Unfortunately, doing this makes the filter look bad (jagged edges) even though the image itself is smooth. I've tried a few things, including using different filters (like the DropShadowFilter). Here's a rough example of what I'm doing...

I have an image that doesn't fill the <mx:Image> tag because it's not the exact dimensions (it is too short) and I have maintainAspectRatio set to true:
<mx:Image id="theImage"
source="{data.photo_thumb}"
horizontalCenter="0"[code]....
The <mx:Image> tag has a fixed width and height (it's 100% of the tile size--this is in an ItemRenderer). How do I get the image to sit on the bottom of the <mx:Image> tag?

Okay so I have two import pieces of code involved in this. This first tiny bit is what creates an object called OBJECT_arrow. It is located in the main function of my main class[code]...
It isn't really all that important. Now this next bit is the OBJECT_arrow class. What it does is loads an external png image and draws it. [code]...

I am trying to use a matrix to stretch an image along its X and Y axis. My code looks like this:
Mat = new Matrix();
Mat.createBox(MyScaleX, MyScaleY);
MyBitmapData.draw(MyDisplayObject, Mat);
When I change MyScaleX, there is no change to the scale. However, the image location gets shifted. When I change MyScaleY, both x and y get scaled. I have also tried to use:
Mat = new Matrix();
Mat.scale(MyScaleX, MyScaleY);
MyBitmapData.draw(MyDisplayObject, Mat);[ code]....

i'm newbie to flash and cs5.5, i'm trying to understand the matrix class usage and trying to follow an example given in the below site,I'm following the steps given in the site but still getting an error saying"...Flash_SamplesTaglio.as, Line 341120: Access of undefined property image_mc."i've an *.jpg in the library and dragged an instance on the stage, converted into movie clip, named that instance as "image_mc". Also linked "Taglio.as" document class to that movie clip but still showing the same error.

Looking for a programming book that is in tutorial approach. Example this chapter teaches you how to do a login form. In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces.The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.

Has anyone here ever developed a function (or general library of relevant functions) that will allow one to find the inverse of a matrix? I've searched the forum archives, as well as the internet more generally, but haven't found anything. If anyone has some leads, I hope you'll pass them along.
If I don't hear anything within the next few days, I might try to develop something on my own, but I'd hate to do so if someone has already done the dirty work.
A solution to this problem would be very useful for 3-D work or anyone doing mathematical programming more generally.

I want to create a button that when clicked it shows a good looking box with a swf or an image inside. I've tried looking for a tutorial for something that resembles this, but couldn't. The closest thing I found were tooltips, but that's not what I need. The tooltip disappears and it's not meant for UI.

I have a flash application in which I need to scale a MovieClip.This MovieClip contains an image (in a Loader) with a resolution of 1024x768 (which is the size of the MovieClip as well).When I want to scale this MovieClip to 80% I do:
myMovieClip.scaleX = 0.8;
myMovieClip.scaleY = 0.8;
The problem is the resulting scaled image has aliasing and is not of good quality. Is there a way to change the scaling algorithm used to get a better image?Or is there a better way to scale MovieClips? I can't rely on bitmap data because this MovieClip may contain another SWF with video for example and it must scale regardless of its internal content.

I'm loading an image in a UILoader Component (created during runtime).
var lb:UILoader = new UILoader();
addChild(lb);
Now when I load any image into this then it loads on top of everything.I know this is because it goes over the top of stack. But is there any solution by which i can move it downwards or even at the bottommost layer. I've tried setChildIndex(lb, 0) though but it didn't work.

I am working on a website coming soon landing page that will be entirely flash. I have design a flash file to be resizable and set not to scale or skew any of the objects. Now I am working on a image I want to span across the bottom of the stage. Currently I am attempting this effect by using a tiling bitmap. It kinda works, I have it on the bottom of the stage only, and its only the size of the image. BUT its tiling very strangely, and I tried to clear the sprite on every resize.
I have attached and image showing what I am attempting to fix. Below is my code.

For some reason, if you add an image to htmlText, like the following:
myText.htmlText = "<img src='"+dataProvider.bodyImage.getUrl('original')+"' align='left' />" + dataProvider.bodyText;
The image will be successfully added to the htmlText, but it seems to measure the sizes completely wrong. At times, the actual text (dataProvider.bodyText) will have part 'hidden' under the image. At other times, there are anywhere from 1 to 4 lines cut off at the bottom. However, if you select the text and drag your mouse down, you can see the bottom lines. It appears the text is all there, but the mx:Text component is not including the image in the textHeight, so it doesnt resize the componenet to the correct size.

Place a 100px by 100px box on the stage (not a movieclip, just a simple shape).
Now apply a vertical skew of 30 degrees. You should get this...
Click outside of the shape to release the transformation data. The degrees for skew resets to 0 (this is expected), see image below
But What skew would you apply to the shape to return it to its original shape. Initially I would've thought it was -30 in the vertical skew, but this seems to return a weird hybrid shape.. See below:

i got a problem with a nice skew function From Ericlin of URL...[code]i have prepared a small and plain .fla for you so you can check it out right here, its also attached to the posting (Flash MX 2004 File but should be ok for earlier versions?):url...while the borders of isometric walls are still exactly vertical (90 deg) the function is producing lines which are very slightly skew. might be something like 90.1 deg... but this inaccurancy produces ugly gaps between walls i put together later.This function is maybe not accurate enough, maybe to accurate, i am not sure. But i need probably some rounding in there but i dont know where, really (is that a wonder? look at the script! ;))when you zoom in and look at the "orientation bar" (thick dark blue bar), you will notice that there is a very small gap on the top right corner but its bigger on the bottom right corner of the wall texture.
