I'm trying to get a called swf to stop playing after a button is clicked.
I also need to have other swfs called on other btn clicks.
you'll see what I mean at

So I got a toggle button that plays sound when clicked, now I need it to stop playing sound when clicked again.

I'm trying to get a button to toggle playing or stopping an mp3 if I click it or hit the space bar. The code I have does that but it does something funny I don't understand. This is the code:
var s:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("song.mp3"));
var sc:SoundChannel;
var playtggl:int = 1;
[code]....
As you can see I've added two event listeners on the button, one for the mouse and for the spacebar. Thing is everytime I hit the spacebar, my function for the mouse click fires up. I don't understand how this is happening.Also, how do you have the event listener listen for a spacebar event without having to first focus on the button by clicking it with the mouse?
I'm trying to stop a toggle button from changing state when clicked, based on some conditions, but I'm not sure how to do it.
I don't want to disable the button, because flex 3 styles don't allow me to get the visual effect I need.
EDIT:
I've tried this but it does not work:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"
creationComplete="_init()"

Could someone direct me to a post (or explain) how I might be able to Toggle On/Off the muting of every sound playing in my .Swf?
I have several streaming sounds I don't want to (stop), just (mute).
I have a movie clip that runs in its own timeline. I want to stop the movie clip from playing whenever the mouse is clicked (in this application I am actually using a touch screen and I want the movie clip to stop playing whenever the screen is touched). In addition, I want the movie to rewind back to frame one so that none of the movie clip images are left on the screen.
View 3 RepliesAnyway what I need to do is have a movie clip finish playing when a button is clicked and then go to the frame label associated with the button. I hope I'm explaining myself ok. So if I had say 4 buttons Home Gallery About Contact If Contact is clicked then I want the Home page to play (Which is a fade out) and then go to Contact Page (which will fade in). Then If Gallery is clicked then I want Contact to fade out and then go to Gallery page and fade in.
View 6 RepliesSo I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.
I want to link a button to a movie clip, but it will not play. Here is how it is set up. On my main scene on second layer on frame 2, I have a movie called homeContent within which I have another movie called pdbutton within which I have another movie called pdrbt. This movie called pdrbt needs to play a movie on the main scene on layer content on frame 3 movie called streetSidemc_mc. Here is my code,
function playMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {
pdrbt.play();
}
pdrbt.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playMovie);
when i click my button the first time my transition MC works fine but when i click it to another button it works fine too.when i click back to the first button it shows not the transition but only the completed transition so i get no animation.[code]
View 1 RepliesI'm making a page with multiple soundclips - each one launched by a separate Flash button.
Problem: If someone clicks a button and then clicks another button without first stopping or pausing the original soundclip, the two play at the same time. Press another and three clips play at once.
How do I make it so that when you push the next button it stops the first clip and then plays the second one?
I have 6 buttons, and a thin bar.. I am doing an effect whereby when I click on the 6th button the bar will move and stop at the 6 button, and when I click on the 2nd button it will move and stop at the 2nd button.. but I cant stop the bar..
bar = slider
button = btn_1
Each btn script:
on (press) {
slider.yMove = btn_1._y;
}
Bar Script:
onClipEvent (load) {
yMove = _y;
easeSpeed = 5;
} onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
_y += (yMove-_y)/easeSpeed;
}
I'm designing an interface for a class, and the buttons that I am using all have multiple functions.For example, when the story button is clicked, I need the mc to stop playing and change to text (in the same window/screen, just no mc playing). The mc is 31 frames long, but if there's a way to just make it loop continuously until told not to, Currently, my code looks like this:
stop();
story_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,story);
function story(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndStop(32);}credits_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,credits);[code]...
When I click the button, the mc does not stop playing and the text does not show up.
I'm using a movie clip as a button to show content on a page, effectively its like a new page of the website. Problem is, with the script im using for it, once the content is show, the button is still active and if clicked again, will re-load the content. I want a way to effectively disable the button whist the content is shown.
this.services_inner.buttonMode = true;
this.services_inner.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, rollOver_services);
this.services_inner.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick_services);

I'm trying to create a simple game. Right now I have one button that when clicked moves the character across the screen. My issue is trying to make the player stop looping after I click the button. If I just insert stop for the last frame it will only loop once and stop, but it will not play again after the button is clicked. I've tried using players_turn boolean but couldn't get that to work.

import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
import flash.ui.Keyboard;

Normally, I want the movie to play the tween that spans from 25 to 35, then stop UNLESS a button has been clicked back on frame 24 - then I want the tween played from 25 to 35 then jump to 46.Problem is, in the button function code, if I have...gotoAndPlay(25); gotoAndPlay(46);the timeline jumps straight to 46 - it doesn't play 25-35. Why?I tried putting a timer in between the two gotoAndPlays, but itignored that too and jumped to 46.o how do I tell it - 'play from 25-35 and stop, unless but_a was pressed back on Frame 24 - then play 25-35, and then play 46' ?
View 7 RepliesI'm looking for some help regarding stopping sounds in Actionscript 3. Basically I'm making an interactive story game, basically a quiz game. On the main menu I have a narrator talking. What I basically want to do is have the track stop playing when you press the play button. I have the soundtrack playing already and the play button too. I just can't figure out how to get the sound to stop when I press the play button and it goes to the next scene.

I have a portfolio_mc that is inside of a content_mc (stage->content_mc->portfolio_mc). There are 3 buttons that take the user to an appropriate frame designated by a frame label and this loads up an FLV. The problem is that when I click on any of the navigation buttons on the main timeline, the FLV that is currently playing, is still playing (I can hear the audio). How to stop this.
Here is the code used for controlling the buttons in the motion_mc timeline:
stop();
var naviArr:Array = new Array(btn01, btn02, btn03);
btn01.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
btn02.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
btn03.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);

I'm trying to make a stop button to make it stop playing the sound. But I get an error saying:
TypeError: Error #1006: stop is not a function.
at sound/SoundStop()
Here is the function for my stop button:
function SoundStop(event:MouseEvent):void {
cs.stop();
isPlaying:false
}
I am using flash 8 professional.
I have a custom video player that loads videos from an external xml file. It uses all actionscript to control the video using the attatchVideo(ns).
At present the video starts playing as soon as the video opens, I would like the video to only start playing after the user clicks the play button.
What is the actionscript I need to achieve this?
* all the actionscript for all buttons etc. is on one layer called actions. Videos are external not on layers.
I have a simple Flash-player button (toggle play/stop) that plays MP3s. When I press play the MP3 starts and the button changes to stop. When I press again the music stops and the stop-button changes to play. I have several player-buttons on my page. How do I stop all sounds when I press play on one of the buttons? As of now, I can start several MP3 at the same time and I don't want that. I've tried this:
Code:
import flash.media.SoundMixer;
SoundMixer.stopAll();
But it doesn't work out. Do I need to number the players somehow?
Also, when the MP3 has finished playing it should turn into a play button. As of right now it's a stop-button when it's finished playing. How do I change it to a play-button? This is the Actionscript 3 code:
var flashVars=this.root.loaderInfo.parameters;
var loadSnd:URLRequest = new URLRequest(flashVars.myVar);
var thisSnd:Sound = new Sound();
var sndTrans: SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();
thisSnd.load(loadSnd);

I am trying to create a little website in flash.. I have some video that plays automatically once the user goes to that section (I am using frame labels to navigate from section to section of the site). But, when the user clicks another button to go to a different page, the video is still playing because I hear it..How can I stop the video from playing once another button gets clicked?
View 20 RepliesMy problem is pretty simple, but I'm still finding my way around even the simplest things in Actionscript. I have a movieclip named 'leaf9' in which I'm using as a button (which happens to be within another movieclip). I have the following actionscript on the frame which contains 'leaf9':

What I want is for all the other functions to go away once "shrink" has started to play, so that if the mouse goes over the button again, the clip doesn't start playing "rollover" etc etc. So how do I stop all the other functions from playing once the .onRelease function has started?
I am a beginner and have completed my first Flash 8 movie which has an invisible button the size of the image which Stop/starts the movie with AS toggle script below which was kindly given to me and works fine.

modify this script so that the movie fades to alpha zero over a 7 second period after the stop action is triggered, and the re-appears 100%-alpha when the play action is triggered?
I am going to be setting up a control that can hide and show a flash video.I want to either stop it when its hidden, or remove it entirely. I've been able to do both, but which is better for the user.Hide and stop means its already loaded. But the flash object is still there, so I worry about it eating up processing power.Removing it entirely means no, its not there, but adding it again appears to send out a call to re-download the file.
View 2 RepliesI'm working on a simple play/pause control for a movie clip.
Is there some property on movieclips that I can query to find if the movieclip is currently playing or stopped?
Otherwise, I figure I could add one myself, and alter it every time I play or stop the movie clip, but I don't want to.
How can I make it stay the rollon color after it's clicked and then the rolloff color when another button is clicked?

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.
View 4 RepliesI am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.
This is the code that creates one of the sound objects
