I have a movie clip with a stop command on frame 1 and a stop command on frame 20.I'm trying to have two separate buttons that tell the MC (onRollOver) to play forward or to play backwards.

I have a project where i have 5 buttons (all on seperate layers) that i want to link to frame 2, frame 3 frame 4, frame 5 and frame 6.So for example i want my about button to link to frame 2 and latest news button to link to frame 3.The seperate pages are housed on the 'page layer' layer.I am using the built in code snippets in cs5 to do this, therefore i am using the 'click go to frame and play' command and changing the frame number accordingly.My problem arises when i use the stop command on the first frame. If i dont use the command the swf cycles through the 6 frames continously, but when i do use the stop command the buttons do not work as the application has stopped.
View 7 RepliesI have a website that plays video1 when it opens. When you navigate to next page the video stops. One of the buttons on the second page plays video2. The problem is that video 2 won't stop using the same command that made video1 stop.
View 2 RepliesI checked out a lot of sites but can't figure out how to do this. without the mask my animation of a button growing bigger works well, the stop command is respected. But i want an image inside the form of the button that grows larger, so i took a picture on a layer below it, and made the button into a mask. visually, it works fine, but it loops, since the layer in mask mode doesn't respect the stop ();
View 1 Repliesthere is a bug about unloadmovie method so i revised everything and attached the movies i loaded before,so that i could use removemovieclip method but there is still a problem; when i remove the mc s from some buttons and recall the same mc s again, they don't obey the codes written.[code]but when i do this with a slidermenu item that is below the one i have just used (4th one ) and slide back the 4th one again;the problem starts..it acts like there r no codes about alphas or depths of the mc s attached in instances window4_1 etc and worst of all it creates two copies of these mc s and doesn't remove them later because they become undefined stuff this time..
View 3 RepliesI've inserted a flv video ( from Import to stage) on the 1st fotogram( my homepage), and then I've extended it for 24 fotograms( because I set at the beginning 1 second = 25fps).If I play the video (with the play button of the "flash prebuilt player") without stop it and I'll surf toward another page the sound still playing, how can I fix? I mean I'm in the homepage, I start the video with the play button on the "flash prebuilt player" and if I don't stop the video and I surf towards another page the video disappear but the audio is still playing on the background. Which command ? I've try with stopAllSound(); on the fotogram 25 but it doesn't work and the audio is still playing.
View 1 RepliesI am using CS3 actionscript 2. I am having trouble with the preloader. It works, but it is causing the stop commands throughout the rest of the movie to not work. I know it is the preloader because when I remove it, it works. It is just a basic preloader. index12.fla has it with the preloader and index13.fla doesn't.[URL]...
View 3 RepliesI do slide presentations on iPad via Flex IOS packager 4.6. The slides are swf's that have to be dynamically loaded at runtime because they change daily. Can't compile them in.
My slides load fine with animations and look great - but the animations on each slide loop. I can't stop them. When I decompile slide swf's I see the stop() commands there on each one. IOS just blows by these stop()'s though (PC doesn't). Interesting that the swf's load at all on IOS. I'd have thought the stop()'s would have prevented that. They do load though. IOS just doesn't honor the stop()'s. Animations play beautifully. Can I stop them some other way? Maybe externally from my main Flex code? Is there a way to stop a Flash animation without stop()? Maybe build the animation differently? Another product I've seen has solved this issue so I know a solution exists. When they play animations on IOS they stop.
I have been given a rather long and complicated Flash movie which contains a number of bugs. The one that has me most perplexed is as to why the pause button is failing to stop the root timeline.[code]As you can see, the button also controls various mps "voiceovers", which stop and start correctly, yet the timeline animations continue to play.I have looked through the movie and there doesn't appear to be any Play function overwriting the buttons Stop command.

I want to stop the movie clip from playing whenever the mouse is clicked (in this application I am actually using a touch screen and I want the movie clip to stop playing whenever the screen is touched). In addition, I want the movie to rewind back to frame one so that none of the movie clip images are left on the screen.
View 3 RepliesI have two movieclips on the stage mc1 and mc2,the navigation for mc2 and mc1 is in mc1 as as3 and MovieClips suddenly now that I've added some tabs into mc2 (new layer, no instance names yet) the navigation code in mc1 has stopped working,if I change the initial stop command to a later frame in mc1 I can navigate back to the first frame and then to one other place in the menu but after moving away from the first frame I can't seem to get any of the buttons to work, its only if the stop command is on a later page that those buttons will workon the main timeline i'm using;

Within a movie that's function is a car's automatic window rolling down and up, it is set up with a rollover button, and rollout invisible button. There is also a layer with labels identifying "down" and "up", with simple actions script attached to the buttons. And, it all works fine.I then added a sound layer, and put the corresponding key frames where they should be. I have an actions layer with "stops" at the first frames of the "down" and "up" sections, and again, all works, except the sound layout does not obey the actions. (same sound each direction).e sound plays immediately. I would like it to begin playing on roll over of the button. On the "button" I have attached the following AS code:

however movie is playing without stopping to "Listen" for a Mouse CLICK. Images placed at frame 10 and 20 should appear only when CLICK'd.
This code is straight out of Classroom in a Book CS4.
I've built a code to cyclically move a scene on the bottom of my stage; I've done this to make a slowing-and-stop-easing effect at anytime the command will arrive. The entire scene mc is _x long something like 6000 px. The whole code goes in this way:
1) importing on the stage (with attachMovie) a mc with this code inside:

The code goes right, but I need to improve it.Now there is just a variable, I tought to use two vars to implement the whole code in a setInterval, but maybe it's unuseful, and actually I can't use it in the right way.
Second issue: actually when slowAndStop function is called the scene slow too fast, if I take it to 15 it slow better but the scene is running too fast...
The best would be that the scene slow down and stop following: A) a temporal variable (and I can try to implement it with setInterval, that for istance is a cycle)
B) an indipendent moving variable, so that on one side I set the speed, on the other side I set the slow-and-stop in a matter of time with countermovement.I also tried to use a second variable:

but the scene slow and goes backward a bit
I'm new to Adobe Flash and especially new to Actionscript. Could somebody give an example and explain how to make and "Ignore *this* command if..." style command. Here's what I want to achieve:I have made a button (I may have done it in an odd way but it works) that moves when the mouse hovers over it and then moves back when the mouse moves away. I plan to put the finished product into Dreamweaver and have tried what I've done so far and it works. The problem is that if I move the mouse away before the first animation of the button has finished. It doesn't reach the *Mouse Out* command and then just sticks/stops in the bit where I have put a *stop* command.Basically, what I want is a way to ignore a command if something happens earlier on (such as the cursor being moved away).I've tried to explain the best I can without actually screenshotting it and copying commands.
View 6 RepliesI thought I had a handle on the timer class (even just a beginners understanding), but I'm having trouble with it.I have an event listener for the timer and it starts fine i get a delay, then a tween,but when I place a myTimer.stop();in the fuction the listener called (to stop it) it dosent stop.it will repeat placing the first image, and then call the first function again
......Wait its placing the first image in (a couple of lines before the start), so Its restarting the whole movie, not just the function?

I have a contact form for which I have a tween. That contact form consists of two keyframes, first the form, I tried putting the code stop(); in the first keyframe but it didn't stop. I then changed stop(); to _root.stop();, which didn't work either. I have to stop it because otherwise users would see a thank you note before they even enter their details. What can I do? Converting to movieclip didn't work either, besides it puts a funny character when I press AltGr
View 2 RepliesI just got Flash CS3. I'm trying to get my main timeline to stop in the begining, on button press to play and at the end stop again. In AS2, you would just put stop(); on the first keyframe and stop(); on the last key frame and program your buttons accordingly.
The stop(); does not work!!!! It's driving me crazy. What am I missing? I've gone through the tutorials in Flash and they don't work either.Also, if you have MovieClip that contains an animation and you don't want the movie clip to be on a continuous loop how do you stop it from playing. In AS2, I would put a stop(); on the last keyframe of the movieclip's animation. This also does not work in AS3.

Im attempting to make a preloader. I am very new to action script so this is what i have.

as simple as it gets, right? Wrong, the preloader works however is get this error 1087: Syntax error: extra characters found after end of program. The preloader it self works it plays and when the movie is loaded it begins the movie, however the movie doesnt stop at any of my stop commands and keeps looping through itself over and over again till i exit the window.
I've tried a couple dozen things to try and stop this movie clip, even down to the bare bones basics and its not working.I have an imported TIFF sequence that i imported onto the stage of a movie clip. Its 73 frames long, i want it to stop on frame 73.So i add the usual stop(); command but it doesn't stop, it keeps looping.On the main layer i put this movieclip in i have an AS layer that also has stop(); and moviclip.stop();But it doesn't stop at all. it just keeps repeating.I put it down to this bare basic setup just to see if i could even stop it. Each movieclip sjunkBomb contains an animated movieclip. When the bombs reach the bottom I want to stop the inside animation.I guess it's better to stop them so they affect the rest of the game if there are a lot of bombs. I know how to hide them with sjunkBomb[x] .visible = false; but if I want to stop them? sjunkBomb[x].stop(); doesn't work!?

I'm making a website using flash,And on my movie it says Welcome to Blah Blah Blah,And then a button appears, To make sure my button works,The writing turns to bold and goes bigger,When the button appears it works and goes bigger, Until it reaches the point in the timeline where it has stop();It stops my movie from looping or restarting which is what i want, But it stops my buttons from working aswell, How to keep my button working but movie stops,If you want me to explain more just ask
