ActionScript 3.0 :: Xml AppendChild Goes Nuts?

Nov 13, 2009

when copying nodes from one XML object to another using appendChild(), sometimes the copied nodes aren't put at the end of the XML object. I've added a file to test this:

Put a number into the field, ranging from 1 to 3, and click addNode. It copies a specific node (FileID = 1,..3) from one XML object to another, and trace shows the result. If I add 1,2,3,1,2 consecutively, then the last node '2' isn't added at the end of the new XML object, but somewhere in between.

I did find a work around by converting the node to a string and then appending that. But the fact that appending an XML node doesn't always put it at the end of the XML object puzzles me. It looks like a bug, doesn't it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Way To Connect Loader Object Of Photo Object With EventRatio Object?

Mar 25, 2010

So I have this Photo class than handles loading a pic, and dispatches an event when the loading is done with:[code]which is simple and works, but now I'd like to make something more advanced. I'd like to dispatch the load ratio.So far I have extended the Event class, with my own EventRatio class, and I can put properties on that class. Which is cool, but I need something more dynamic than just sending a fixed value.So, what is the best way to connect the Loader object of the Photo object, with the EventRatio object?

Arrays :: Declaring A Null Property Within An Object, Or Running A Function Within An Object Declaration

Feb 22, 2011

I have an object which is assigned a number of properties:

var project_array:Array = [];
var slideObject:Object = {
project_title : myXML.projects.project[i].title.toUpperCase(),

[Code].....

but I'm not quite sure where to place this. If I place it outside of the object constructor, I get "term is undefined", I guess because it doesn't know what project_clips_array is - but if I declare project_clips_array in the constructor, it appears to need to be defined, i.e. I can't create a blank property. But I can't place it in the constructor either, because it doesn't seem to allow me to run a function within an object constructor. What is the proper syntax or arrangement of code for executing this function to get the array within the object?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Deep Object Copy - BCopy Object Does Not Contain Body Property?

Mar 24, 2011

I found a really weird behavior when using deep copy for objects (ObjectUtil of Flex framework).Imagine we have a class B which extends class A. Class A has property body which is of type ByteArray.I create object b (instance of B). Then I make a deep copy object bCopy, BUT this bCopy object does not contain body property at all! All others properties (of scalar types) defined in Class A are copied properly.When I define property of type ByteArray directly in class B, then this property is copied properly..

Flex :: Access XML Object In Restlet 2.0 Thats Wrapped Inside A Representation Object?

Jan 7, 2010

I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -

Actionscript 3 :: In Flash Does Extending An Object Use More Memory Even If The Object's Methods Aren't Used

Jul 20, 2011

I am creating an object pool to cache some recyclable objects in memory at the outset of my application in order to avoid (as much as possible) the performance issues caused by GC running; if possible I'd like to minimize the memory my object pool reserves, so I'm attempting to pool generic forms of the objects (with no methods) and then casting the generic variants to more specific and complex object types which extend the generic form when I actually want them on the stage.

The trouble is that to do this requires the generic variant class to import/extend MovieClip (because the more complicated objects are themselves MovieClips and make use of DisplayObject methods)-- does simply importing and/or extending a class add to the memory an object takes up when instantiated even if it never uses methods from the inherited class? It makes sense that it would, and some light profiling seems to suggest that it does, but I'm not 100% certain. About how large should an 'empty' MovieClip instance be in bytes?

Flash - Serialize Circular Object Networks Using Write / Read Object

Oct 6, 2011

I'm about to implement
public function writeExternal( output:IDataOutput ):void {...}
public function readExternal( input:IDataInput ):void {...}
to make a set of object serializable.

Although I'm pretty sure, that I implemented all correctly, readExternal(..) at a certain point complains about too few data left to read:
RangeError: Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds.
at flash.filesystem::FileStream/readObject()

I wonder, if I have a circular object network like
A = { left -> B, right -> B }
B = { father -> A }
And I call
writeObject( a )
Will Flex serialize the hole object network and each object once and only one?

I did this:
Declared type annotations like this: [RemoteClass(alias="model.MyClass")]
Implemented parameter-free constructors
Declared all classes using implements IExternalizable
SharedObject's send() method is guaranteed to send each object once and only once.

Additional infos:
Reading and writing a ByteArray
Using Remote Object Components
IExternalizable interface

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Player 10.1.85.3 - If The Object Is Not Found In The Dictionary Object, It Will Be Searched For In The Delegate Objects?

Oct 29, 2010

I am encountering a problem in my app only when it is run in flash player 10.1.85.3. Some earlier player versions I have tried are working fine.From what I can tell it seems related to the following:

Quote:

from here: h[url].....

When searching for objects (not strings) in Dictionary objects using the 'in' operator, if the object is not found in the Dictionary object, it will be searched for in the delegate objects. With 10.1, the toString operator will be called on the Object if not found in the Dictionary. This can cause problems with Proxy objects who need to define the callProperty function or it will generate a RTE. ...what it means "it will be searched for in the delegate objects"?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Trace The Path Of An Object By Using SetPixel On The Object's Position Every Frame In A BitmapData/Bitmap Pairing?

Feb 16, 2011

I'm trying to trace the path of an object by using setPixel on the object's position every frame in a BitmapData/Bitmap pairing. These pixels aren't showing up normally and I suspect I have a fundamental misunderstanding of the BitmapData class. Here's what I'm doing:

public var contrailBase:BitmapData;
public var contrail:Bitmap;
private var contrailColor:uint;[code].....

Using this code, the red pixels don't show up. If I initialize contrailBase to 0xFF000000 instead then I get a black screen on which the red pixels DO draw, but I need the bitmap to be transparent except for the contrail. What am I doing wrong?
