ActionScript 3 :: Initiating A Bullet Changes Direction With Character

I'm working on a side scroller that has a character that fires a bullet every time you hit spacebar, the problem I'm having is moving the bullet in the direction the character is facing (left or right).
I have a few of boolean variables to tell me which direction my character is facing: walkingRight | walkingLeft, so if my walkingRight == true, I want the bullet to travel +=10, and walkingLeft == true, bullet -= 10.
The problem is, when I fire facing left, the bullet moves left, but as soon as I turn right, that same bullets starts moving right.

I am trying to program a game and I want the enemy character to fire a bullet every second, but instead he is firing an infinite amount of bullets right after the other. Here's the code with the timer:

I have a text field (old-style, non-TLF) with the following HTML text:[code].....
The font Optima is embedded, and I've selected embed all glyphs.What I'm getting rendered to the screen is as the image below, with a random i + umlaut character in place of the bullet.Is this a problem with Flash or is the font file somehow missing the bullet character, and does anyone know how I can fix this issue, preferably without having to move across to TLF text.?

I'm making a shooter. Whenever my bullet starts flying and I move my character the bullet keeps moving with it. The rotating gun is in the body movieclip layer so it follows the body around and I can move the gun is there anyway to disconnect the bullet from also moving around with the body ?

I'm making a game that is birds eye view like the old grand theft autos. anyway im currently stuck at this... I can have my character fire and have the bullet follow my mouse but I cant seem to figure out how to just make the bullet go straight off the screen in the direction my character is facing.

I have one character which can face several directions: t, b, l, r, tl, tr, bl, br.The type of camera is top-down 2d
T stands for Top, which is when he is looking to the top of the screen
B = Bottom
L = Left
R = Right
The character can look to other directions, like the Top-Left of the screen, which is tl
How do I calculate which direction he should look to if I only have one variable, rotation?

I tried almost everything to make my character stop when it detects a wall. It only works for UP and RIGHT or DOWN and LEFT but not all 4 directions, so only one y movement and one x movement. So I decided to make 4 functions, one for each direction. But then it only works when the left key is pressed and hits a wall.
What do I have to do to make the collision detection stop the character from moving in all 4 directions?

I'm currently making my own shoot'em up game where the player can switch between two player types which will fire their own bullet type in this case, squares and circles. I've setup the player switch function via pressing "space" button (switching between the two player types) and the default bullet type is "squares" and I'm not sure to approach the coding with changing the bullet type to "circles".I've written 2 classes for the bullet and player setup:Player Class: Creates instance of bullet on screen and enables the switch player type function

I'm trying to make my platform game character shoot a gun, my character and gun are one movieclip and the bullet is another. The bullet mc starts on a blank frame with a stop() function, when I press the space bar the bullet mc plays from frame 2 which is a motion tween of the bullet quickly moving across the page. I've set the bullet's y and x values relative to the character mc so that the bullet always comes from the gun.
My issue is that if I press the space bar a bullet will fly out of the gun (great!) but if I press the space bar again, the first bullet disappears and the bullet animation starts again. I want to be able to shoot a new bullet every time I press the space bar without effecting the bullets that have already been shot.

I have created a preloader that loads my application (SWF).The problem is that I have a class, with an instance on the stage, but this class is not initiating on runtime and returns null. It happens only with this class and only when the SWF is loaded into another SWF.I have tried to create a timer, and the timer initiates the application just after 1 second. But this doesn't help. Still the class doesn't initiate and the movieClip returns null.
It is driving me crazy, I have searched everywhere and no answer. How can I fix it? Or do you an idea for other way to create a preloader?

i have a scroller developed in as2. it basically scrolls continuously in a direction until the direction of the mouse is changed. the images of course loop in the continuous scroll. now the problem is that for 10-15 photos its ok. but when i feed it with 180 photos, it seems to show only 11. why would this be? any restriction on flash ??

I'm making a simple game for my course and the menu system is gonna be playable in a sense.It is all in total 2D.What I want to happen is that when the character touches/enters this house movieclip, the text movieclip within it (instructions text that I want to fade in) will play on the relevant frame so that the alpha tween initates. So basically when the character enters the house the text fades in, and when he leaves it fades out.
At the moment all that happens is when he enters the house the text movieclip goes from 0% alpha to 100% alpha in two frames, so from blank to 100%, as if it's not registering the frames of the tween motion. Here's the code, what the hell is going wrong it's driving me mad! I've not put in the code for the keyboard function of moving the character/background as it's most likely irrelevant to the problem.

I have 10 buttons each linked to a dynamic text box. 5 integer variables will be passed into swf file (one will be a zero.. which ends the game) When a button is clicked, the first variable is displayed in a text box, when the 2nd button is clicked, the next variable is displayed etc.., until 0 is passed from variables. What action script needs to be initiated to declare the incoming variables and what code is needed on each button to make sure the variables are not repeated?

have a ball with the name of mc which can be moved using the keyboard .. when you press the left mouse button shoots the ball, this ball and the other flies in the face where the cursor was in the shot .. but if you move the cursor to another location and shoot a second time then the second ball is also flying in the direction of the cursor and the first ball change direction toward a second shot ..

I have a 9 frames image of a character.In other language generally i used to make character animation by looping the array consisting of different frames and drawing each frame when pressing key.What i want to do is when i press left or right key, i want to draw each frame that makes character movement and update x coordinates of frames, and it will appear as character is moving.

I would like my character to move as if he was drunk I am unsure how to do that I am using the keyboard for his movement. I also have a character that moves at random I would like the drunk moving character to be able to catch this character and play a scene from within the drunk characters movie clip but I want this character to try and escape the idea is the drunk character gets points for how long he is able to hang on to this character

I've been working with Flash for over 3 years, but I can't figure this one out. I've got a body of text, half of which are bulleted points designated by <li></li>. It's loaded into a html-ised dynamic textbox.

It displays fine as is. However, if I make the box selectable, and select any part of the bulleted list, the ENTIRE body of text turns into a giant bulleted list, including the non-bulleted portion at the beginning. I've managed to replicate this bug with Flash 8 and CS3, using a variety of flas made from scratch.
