I have an actionscript 2 code that uses base64 to encode/decode incoming data. problem is that data is binary and includes null (0 characters), actionscript 2 fails when handing null to charCodeAt.I figured what I need is an actionscript 2 lib that can do base64 encoding/decoding on an array rather than a String.

var theItems:String = "4 3 6 19 20 40 41 4 3 6 19 20 40 41"
var titems = theItems.split(" ");
var nextLine = 0;

I need to achieve something like this for my website: Flash Rain Effect
Is that possible to do in Javascript? I want it to be just as smooth as it is in Flash.
I have 3 sounds that i would like to play, they are in my library.I can play any of of them using soundName.start(0,1) with the code below:
firstSound = new Sound();
firstSound.attachSound("Sound1");
secondSound = new Sound();

Im completely new to Flash and ActionScript2 but what I need is to add Google analytics code to track clicks from "button" Bellow is a part of my function

var clearId:int = setTimeout(function():void{
//some code here
clearTimeout(clearId);

I have a error TypeError: Error #1007: Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor but i can't figure out what i am doing wrong. I have a class that declares a static closure that instances the same class.

I need to detect browser/tab closure from within a flex application in order to delete the session information in the server. I'm familiar with JavaScript events but I was wandering if there is an event in flex for application unload or something of that sort ...
View 4 RepliesOn occasion, I have wanted to push a closure onto ActionScript's event stack so that it will be executed after the current event handler. Right now I use setTimeout(closure, 0). Is there a more direct way of doing this?
View 2 RepliesI seem to recall something about pass-by-reference and the Greensock TweenLite class. It's the only thing I can think of that is causing this bit of code to be not working as I intend:
for (var i = 0; i < 10; ++i) {
addItem();
}
public function addItem():MovieClip {
var item:MovieClip = getNewItem();
[Code]...
The trace is outputting the values I expect: an incremental sequence where each number is greater than the last (by the height of the item). However, what I see visually is that all the items end up at the same location (as if newPosY were the same for all instances of the tween.)
The only thing that comes to mind is that newPosY is being passed by reference, so each instance of the tween is actually referencing the very same value. Am I missing something? Or do I need some kind of closure to isolate the scope of my tween property's value?
How can I access instance variables in closure(inner function) for this style: this['varName']?

I've been programming some stuff in Actionscript (haXe) and arrived this very specific problem. Here's the code (pseudo :S):

I have a flash application written in action script 2, and at one point it makes multiple back-to-back JavaScript requests using getUrl().
They have to be done as separate requests because IE had a limit on the length of a single request, and fails silently if that limit is passed.
When ever this happens, if the user has their sound turned on there is a barrage of "click click click".
What is the best way to create a 2D plot, with different points in different coordinates (x/y coordinates) such that they are represented using different shapes on the plot, and whenever we click on one of them, or go with mouse over them, we see a text changing in a small window next to the plot?
If I could do this in HTML, that would be great.If there is a generic Flash component that could do that, simply by loading some text data from URL, that would be IDEAL.
I have this code, but doesn't work.
HTML block:
<div id="div_container"></div>
JS
var youtube_code = '<object width="434" height="309"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/NWHfY_lvKIQ&hl=es_AR&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/NWHfY_lvKIQ&hl=es_AR&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="434" height="309"></embed></object>';
document.getElementById('div_container').innerHTML = youtube_code;
I'd tried it in all browsers(IE, FF, CHR,O). Not js errors happens. I can see in firebug or inspector that object node is created. But Flash plugin never appear.
I want to create an application like this:
[URL]
What is the most efficient way to create this real time application ?Flash ? Long polling ? Http Streaming ? or anything else ?
Is it possible/what is the easiest way to take 3D model from max and create a Flash or Javascript carousel that can work on the web? It should function like a real world CD carousel with say 100 or so models built in. [URL] Buttons on each side scroll through the chips. This is my first one and I didn't see any similar questions asked. Sorry for not embedding the image...it wouldn't let me because this is my first post.
View 3 RepliesI need to create a flip book/page application. I have seen flash created flip page, can it be done in any other languages, e.g. jquery or javascript? And also, what are some concepts that I am required to have in mind/knowledge on for creating a flip book?

Would be possible to develop the above chart using SVG and Javascript or some other lightweight technology i.e HTML5.0 technologies?
What sort of effort would be involved (man days)?
Would the SVG version be as fast/smooth as it's flash counterpart?
I want to create a kind of "flash button" in a web page. It just like the volume controller of windows operating system. When we click the button or the bar and hold it to roll down or roll up then we can change the volume. Actually, I want to use it to control the speed of switching picture in a web page. For example, intially, the images will switch from one to the other in a default speed--image/5seconds. There is a kind of slide bar just like I described above, I can roll the button to left or right to control the speed of switching.
View 2 RepliesFor example, check out [URL] They enable their users to capture videos of themselves and then create animated gifs from them.
Just so this isn't construed as spam, I do not work for Gifyo. It's just an example.
Can this be done now with HTML5? Should I maybe us Javascript? Flash?
How do I create a custom event class similar to ActionScript? What I mean by that is a class that I can use to fire off my own events, send the necessary data.
I don't wanna use third-party libraries like YUI or jQuery to do it. My goal is to be able to send a event that looks like this.[code]...
For my wishlist site, I would like to propose widgets to my users in order to publish their wishlist on their blog or personal website. The idea is to propose a few lines of code to my users that they only need to copy/paste to insert the widget displaying their wishlist. What is the best way to create/develop a widget ?

Is there anyway to take take a "screenshot", "save" or "capture" the active SWF element on a page as an image? I'd like for users to be able to simply click a button on my page, instead of having to need to manually take a screenshot of the entire page and then crop the image to show only the SWF element.I found a Jquery method, although I am unsure if it could work with SWF files. It basically captures an area of an Image element on the page and allows you to save that as a separate image. What I would need however, is to capture the SWF as the image instead. Note: I do not have access to the SWF code so I cannot achieve this using Actionscript or anything like that
View 2 RepliesI was wondering if it's possible to include an swf within a javascript carousel that currently just contains stagic images. What I'm looking to do is include a flash animation within the carousel. I guess I've got two main questions: Is it possible to cycle through flash files in the same way as an image? How would I get the javascript and flash to interact so the flash file would know when it had been selected?

I am trying to create a multiple file upload flash application to be called from an External Interface, but it isn't working.
AS3:
var fileRef:FileReferenceList;
ExternalInterface.addCallback('selectFiles', showDialog);
function showDialog()
[Code].....
When I run the script and comment out the fileRef parts and uncomment the alert call, it shows the alert, also when I comment out the ExternalInterface call, leaving only the fileRef parts, it shows the file upload dialog.
When I run it as intended, I get the following error:
Error calling method on NPObject
Create a full page background image slideshow like [URL] using Flash? I'm new to flash and I want to know hoe to create these full screen image slideshows, that start on page load and scale proportionally just like the above two websites, using Flash CS5 AS3.
View 3 RepliesI want to create a custom video player to modify the skin of the play controls etc but still host the videos on youtube.The youtube api allows for minor colour adjustments but not full customisation. I know it would be possible if I download the FLVs but i want the video to remain hosted on youtube.
View 3 RepliesI have to create a banner that expands over content when moused over and then contracts on mouse out. I have managed to create the expand/contract animations and actions but I am having trouble positioning the that the flash file is in to ensure that it's flows over other elements on the page.
