I would like a single (not all) object on _level0 to show on top. Is that possible?
Layers would only work, if Im not misstaken, on a single level, so I guess thats out.

Jul 10, 2003I have attached a simple test fla.I am trying to centralize my code in all my movies using dot notation instead of spreading my code all over the place. It never works, I must be doing something wrong.The test .fla has a movieclip with a timeline animation. I used the linkage identifier to name it 'reload' AND named the instance 'reload'.

The pointer doesnt even change to a hand.

Oct 16, 2010I think i must be missing something very basic about packages and classes. I am often downloading source code from people who offer there source code on the internet. I think this is a good way to look at what people are doing and try to understand the code. Ideally I want to see the program in a .fla, see it in action when I "ctrl enter" and play with the code to change some things and learn a bit.
The thing is it always seems to be just .as files with public and private package/class code and never an actual .fla with the actual program. This is probably a really stupid question but is there a reason for this?

And the other calls this:
MovieClip(root)["bmc"+PuzzleGlobals.puzzleAbbrev].addChild(fwgame); fwgame is declared like this (before the addChild): var fwgame:FireworkGame = new FireworkGame(); trace (fwgame); //traces correct object
trace (MovieClip(root)["bmc"+PuzzleGlobals.puzzleAbbrev]); //returns a 1009 error
The first line of code works. The second line returns a 1009 error, "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."

Jan 30, 2010I can code things fine myself but I've never used anyone elses code components to build something. I need to make a magazine that has a page fli effect and someone pointed me to Rubens flex book component (I'm assuming I can use it with flash). I've downloaded the zip file but I'm not sure how to actually start making my book. Everything is in different folders, because I assume they all are interlinked and are specificied with their paths within their classes.
I'm thinking I need to make a fla and then a document class and link that to the fla. But what do I put in the document class?

So I thought I may have a look at that source code and see if I could be able to find the source of some particular issue and maybe even correct it.I know the risks.But after modifying,for example,ComboBox.as in the abovementioned folder, simply adding some dummy trace()s just to see if it worked, it doesn't seem to work. I created a fla file, placed a ComboBox and tested it, but I cannot see the trace printout I added. I did "delete ASO files" but nothing changed.So how do I tell Flash to recompile the components?
