When the user clicks on search, how do I create an alert box that says "Searching..." and doesn't disappear until we get an HTTP response?
I am creating an application using flex mobile but could not find how to show alerts using flex.So can anyone please tell how to show the alert in flex mobile , mx alert don't work in this and i could not find an alternative in spark.
View 1 RepliesI wanna use Alert dialog box instead of skinnable container in my mobile application. I imported Alert class like:
import mx.controls.Alert;
and then I wrote the code below in my button click handler:
Alert.show("example","Error!",Alert.OK);
but when I wrote this code I got lots of errors whose codes are 1120 and 1172, e.g.,
"Access of undefined property ButtonSkin".
If I do not write this code, there is no problem. My application works fully.
Is it any way to prevent user to go to specific web-pages using Adobe AIR framework.I want this software to run at startup and not allowing user to surf some web parts.I want to use Adobe AIR beacause of its crossplatform capabilities.

So basically, before the search we get a "Searching..." AlertDialog box, once the search is complete, the dialog box disappears and the results screen is pushed onto the screen...

p.getResp() is nothing as the response hasn't came back yet. I want the program to basically block until the HTTPResponse is received so I can process the results. At the moment the Popup appear and disappears quickly, and in the background the search goes off and makes the request... I get the response but only after the results screen has been pushed out. How can I make the popup block until we have a HTTPresponse?
I'm creating an alert popup within an Adobe Flex 4 project using the following:

When my language is of Asian origin (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc) the title appears correctly on the Alert, but the message does not. I'm seeing the correct localization values EVERYWHERE ELSE in my application except the Alert popup and in one other instance on a mx:Checkbox control.
I've checked my app and the strings are being returned from the resourceManager correctly but just aren't rendering to the screen. Does anyone have any insight as to what might be causing this behavior?

I would like the box to have a title something like "Where would you like to go from here?" then two text links "Members Excel" (which will take them to members-excel-forum) and "Newsgroup Excel" (which will take them to newsgroup-excel-forum), like I said I have many more to add but once I have the code and a "How to" I should be able to adapt it.I will have to do this for each of the items (I'll have to unlock them first) there are 24 items in my movie (it looks like 12 as there is an icon and text locked together for each category) so I need to do this for 16 of them, I say Alert box as this won't be bothered by a pop up blocker. I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.

View 4 RepliesWhat is the best solution for multi threading in flex, I notice if I play a mp3 in flex and do something else at the same time something ends up giving out, either the song stops playing or the UI hangs for about a split second. It doesn't have that fluid response that I am looking to achieve. If possible I would like to call a multi threaded java class to do some of the client-side end back end processing. I just don't know if that is possible.

I am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky. Is there way to accomplish this?

View 1 RepliesI have a AIR for mobile pure AS3 project that saves a file on the device the first time it runs into the file.applicationStorage directory. The second and subsequent times the application launches I need it to look at that file I've saved.
My problem is that when I debug the application from Flex Builder 4.5 it wipes the application and application storage. So the application always behaves like it is running for the first time. I can't get into a debug session and step through my code as I read in that file.
Does anyone know how to connect to a debug session running on the device? My device in this case is an Android Samsung Galaxy S.

Below code is used to read a file in the disk and upload as 1MB chunks to a php server via adobe AIR application.It iterates the do/while loop till the end of the file and uploading part is handled by function getConnection. The servers returns an XML as the response.With the eventListnters currently it goes to fuction onRequestComplete when it recieves the response. Because of that issue current code exits the loop when it receives the response from the server.Is there any way that I can get the responce of the request send by the function getConnection when it calling inside function startUpload ? also hw can I define the request timeout for this single requests?

Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. After actually getting the .APK file published from Flash Pro CS 5.5 onto the phone and installed, it of course gave me the message that I needed to install Adobe AIR to run the program.How can that be "truly a native app?" The same happens in iOS, obviously. Is Flash running in a web browser a "truly native app" in that case? The extra step of making users download the Adobe AIR package makes it all seem so half baked compared to actual native apps. I'm assuming there is no way to package AIR with your app?

I have three buttons with sound effects in a mobile adobe air device (PlayBook in this case - supports up to 4 points of multitouch).

I'm newbie at forum , if I opened this topic to the wrong place ; please , excuse me I'm an HTC HD2 user. nd I noticed that ; Flash 10.1 support to the Android OS had come to HTC Google Nexus One , with "Froyo" update. I watched some videos at Youtube , about "Open Screen Project" (that Adobe leads) . And Adrian Ludwig(at Flash team) was using HTC HD2 and showing the Flash 10.1 at phone. I'm thinking that , if he used Flash at HTC HD2 , then there must be a release for phone too. I'm not sure , it's very important for me.
