(if your veiwing in firefox the site may look messed up) and it just stays loading for ages and doesnt eventually load.and if anyone knows the code so my site can be viewed in all screen resolutions without having to slide across at the bottom.

However, nothing displays. I assume its because the actionscript must be set up to display swf's differently. I found in the code a few refernces to this...
When the page loads, it calls "setRotator". Inside "setRotator" is the loadImage call. Here are both functions.

I am a web developer (CF and ASP.net) working on a new project. I toyed with flash back around the beginning of Flash MX around the early 2000's. Basically I am looking for direction on this -- I would like to have a small flash movie that displays a collection of pictures with some sort of transition. Ideally, I would like to pull the image paths from a database and rotate through them at some time interval. This seems like something that shouldn't be too difficult - and I am sure it has been done thousands of times - I am surprised I cannot find more information through google searches. Maybe I am not keying on the correct terms!??!? Anyways, If anyone could provide some direction - I am hoping that I can pick it up with a little push. Having not touched flash in 7 or 8 years, I am kind of stuck getting started.

The only rotators I can seem to find have external XML/image files, etc. All I want to do is create simple SWF's that I can use to display rotating images preferably is a smooth and stylish manner. i'm making a preloader for my banner rotator, but the reason to be here writing this post is to ask for help to fix a bug in my preloader, for example: When I click on a button to change the image while the preloader is counting it simply starts counting the the bytesLoaded of old image + the new image(bytes) of the button I've clicked. Then the percentage goes over the 100% ... I didn't want to disable the button, I know is possible in some way but I am not finding success.

I ve got this flash rotate banner, which loads 3 external jpg and 3 external swf's and rotates them within time givem. The problem is that all files are loaded at the same time, so when it begin to display the other swf's are playing already in the background, then when it rotates the annimation is finished. I would like it to load the files but trigger the annimation only when it rotates and displays the current swf on screen.

I'm having a strange issue with an incremental rotator. Using Tweener, i just want a square to rotate by 15 degrees each time the stage is clicked. This works perfectly until the rotation get larger than 200. At that point the square spins a full loop before landing on the correct location. All I'm looking for is to have it be +=15 from where it currently is.[code]

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create an image rotator in flash that is powered by XML that just continually rotates through the images (fading into an image and fading out, and then fading into the next image, etc).I've managed to load the XML file and get the location of the image files for each image:[code]and I've managed to load the last image in the XML into a movieclip by putting this line:imageHolder.loadMovie(myImage[i].attributes.image); under the var imageURL = myImage[i].attributes.image line.I can't work out how to:
1. Display one image at a time instead of just the last image in the XML file
2. Fade in and out between each images (I was trying to use Tweenlite to do this and think I can get it to work once I know how to do the above point)
3. How to continually repeat through all the images.
how to make a basic image rotater by importing images and setting up motion tweens in the time line. That part works. When I hit ctrl + enter it plays through the images correctly.
Now I want to add an action script that will play/pause the rotator on mouseover and mouseout.
What I have so far is layers img1, img2, img3, img4 and an invisible button layer called buttonLayer.
I added a 6th layer and named it action.
Now every time I try to use one of the symbols from the library I get a "undefined property" error.
I have looked all over and find all kinds of tuts but none of the ones I'm finding tell the basics of how to use a symbol in the actionscript. Or how to make a symbol/instance/object in the first place. They just say things like "somesymbolname.play()" but when I replace that with my symbol name I get the error.
I've renamed all my symbols to img1, img2... because one thing I can see that is obvious is that there is no way "symbol 1" works in any programming language because of the space in the name. I'm confused that flash would automatically create a symbol with a name I can't use.
When I right click->actions to bring up the actionscript window for my action layer where do I start? And are there other things I need to do with the symbols and layers before I can use them in action script?
I'm attaching the fla file in a zip. how to add the actionscript it would go a long way in helping me understand how it all works.
I also tried saving the swf and then importing that into a new project as one single layer to work with and that doesn't seem to make a difference as far as figuring out the actionscript.
I want to put a flash banner(slider) to show a bunch of products iteratively. And I want it to allow interaction so the user can interrupt image looping and choose what she wants to see and what images to show how long it will be shown should be configurable. I already googled for 'flashe banner / slider' but with no luck. Is there any open source projects that can offer this kind of feature? Or tools that can help me to create one.

But as soon as i load them on to any of my servers and try to access them i am presented with an IO error 2032Now i know this means it cant find the files it needs to load so i then changed all the links to absolutes when it was calling for the necessary files and i still get the error. I am trying to create a news rotator that pulls info and images from an XML file.I made something similar a while back which pulled just the headlines which worked great and I am trying to adapt this same idea to a current project. pull all the info from the XML and push them into separate arrays based on the type of information it is. ie title, description, image etc.From there I have a function which is supposed to display the all of the info and another which cycles through it based on a timer.Like I said before, this worked great with just the headlines, but when trying to add images its getting thrown off. The function which intends to parse the data and pushing it into separate arrays.

I'm aware that it has something to do with either how the info for the images is being parsed (or not), and/or how I am going about displaying it.I was able to write a separate function which displayed one image as intended, but then wouldn't cycle through as the news changed.
I have a news rotator that is populated from an RSS feed. The rotator has a timer that cycles through the news items, displaying a link and image and title for each item. I have the put in three buttons for the user to control the item that is displaying. A pause, forward and backward button.
My issue is that I'm not sure how to implement the button without messing up my timer that is already running. I was able to do the Pause button, which was simply to stop the timer. The forward and backward buttons are a bit more tricky. This is what I have so far. Note that I have much of the code duplicated because I needed to initialize the objects for the first timer index. After the first item, the code runs from the timerHandler() function.
