I'm trying to recreate an animation like this in Flash CS5. Is it possible to simply lock the push rod (red) to the rotating wheel (yellow) so that I don't have to go through frame by frame repositioning it?Is it possible to have the push rod slide through the slider tube automatically (Green) again so I don't have to reposition frame by frame.
Banging My Sore head for 2 days.I've been through the excellent thread on photo gallerys featuring Scott on crank and have finally pulled most of my head out, but I desperately need a bit of assistance. Have posted a photo gallery sans photo's running off an xml file based on the V3 photogallery.
Here is where I'm having prob's:
1. For some reason, the first photo in the xml datebase (pic1.jpg) does not load when button#1 is pressed. The gallery starts with #2? I just don't understand why.
2. On load, the preload bar is presend even though i've got visible = 0.
3. The BIG one. Right now I've got an empty frame for my thumb buttons. What I really want to do is have a single button prototype that duplicates itself and externally loads a thumb*.jpg rather than placing each thumb*.jpg on each button manuelly. There was an example on the same thread, but I was unable to combine the two.
I've been experimenting with a crank that you can turn with the mouse which is supposed to make things gradually change on the stage. Everything is going smoothly, except that when the crank makes a full rotation, its angle returns to 0. I've added an AccumulatedAngle variable to keep track of this, but I can't get it to update at the same time as the actual rotation. What I'm getting is brief moments where the totalAngle value is 360 above what it should be, and the objects on screen update with that value, causing them to jump around on the screen and then jump back each time the crank makes a full rotation. I've tried moving around the order of the variable updates and I've tried moving when the boxes are updated, even putting them inside the if statements that change the crank's angle. I just can't figure this one out.
Okay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library) Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.
Trying to create a DVD from a swf animation. The DVD needs to be able to work on any standard TV connected (non pc) DVD player. I need to export to a video format (.AVI or .MOV) the next bit is what do I need to do to make this file play automatically when the DVD is loaded? Something like you do for CD-ROM an autorun.inf? My animation is 646 px X 346 what is the resolution of a standard LCD tv? Will I need to redesign the animation with more pixels to get it to be optimised on the TV?
i am currently trying to create a fish pond with fishes in it, i have parts of these fishes which i hope i can join them together to create a animation of a fish and be able to control it easily, as i will have to implement some AI on the fish, such as moving to eat a food etc. i am very new to flash and have no idea how can i go about doing this, how can i combine the images to form a fish and then be able to control the whole fish and have it move naturally like a fish without much knowledge of AS3?
i want to create a slideshow of animation clips. It will either jpg sequence of animation or swf files. Actually the problem is, flash library is not capable to handle such a huge load of image sequence .so its crashing, and .swf files are losing the visual quality.

I've just created a draft animation demonstration of a unique analogue clock [URL]. What I would like to achieve is to also have a digital clock just below it. So when you roll over the analogue clock, the animation starts for both clocks. When you roll off the animation stops leaving the time displayed exactly the same on both clocks. So basically both the clocks run simultaneously (speeded up). How I might achieve this?
I need to create flash interactive animation for one one of my regular clients, which should look and work similar to example in Nike store Customize:LinkThis is how my clients product (shirt) should look like and what sections should be editable: [URL]Basically it should work this way:1. End user chooses some element of shirt which he would like to edit (for example collar)2. When he clicks on that element, popup windows shows offering two main options: to change color and graphic (texture or pattern), same as on nike store customize example3. After user changes one section (collar) he goes to other section (lets say sleeve) and so on4.
User should be able to zoom in or zoom out that shirt and also if it is possible to rotate it in 4-5 positions5. At the end it should be able to save that work (and load it if he wants to later ) and be able to print it.I have made many animations, games, banners and similar using Macromedia Flash MX and Adobe Flash so I am not a flash newbie but this is a first time I am dealing with this type of work. I know that there is no step by step tutorial for this kind of custom interactive animation but I need some help and and advice how to create these three first steps (1. 2. 3). Regarding steps (4.) and (5.) I think I could realize it (zoom in, zoom out, rotate movieclip, save in database and print screen), because I ahd some previous experince regarding this part.
I'm ultimately trying to create a flash page for an html website that has a brief five-second animation during which 3 buttons fade in (buttons then become clickable after the animation is over).
The animation part is done. Right now, I am trying to get my movie to stop and hold on the last frame, where I want to add the 3 buttons that the user can click on to take them to one 3 different html pages of my website.
All instructions that I've found online have said to create a new layer for actions, insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, and add stop(); in the actionscript window. However, when I have the keyframe selected, my actionscript window says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it".
I definitely don't have any objects selected, just the keyframe.
You can see that I have the frame (a keyframe) that I want to insert a "stop" action selected in the Actions layer. This is the first frame in which the buttons exist, and from what I can tell, I need the clip to stop on the first frame of my buttons, after my animation is over. (Still figuring out how to get the buttons to work, but will address that later...)
We are building a project in Flash Builder 4(flex) and to optimize on screen space, looking to move some display content to a separate window, while the animation runs
We cannot use a pop-up as it takes control and will not allow anything else to be viewed till it is closed. Any way we can create a"read only" window that can be moved around but does not prevent the base animation from running.
I've been trying to create a simple text animation using XML and AS3 that I would like to run similar to the swf I've attached with this post. I've tried to look for tutorials similar to this that I can follow but I haven't found anything yet.I can get the xml to load up but I haven't been able to get the name to animate separately. The xml is structured like so.[code]
I want to create animation of the text where at frame 1, letter spacing is 0 and at frame 200, letter spacing is 60 for specified text. This process is unsuccessful via motion tween in cs4 flash, and i guess neither in earlier versions, nor that I have done that before. But I was certain that it would be very straight forward to achieve via motion tween, so far it feels that I was wrong and for such simple animation and straight forward concept, why it doesn't work, again, via motion tween. I presume I can write AS3 code spinet that would run every frame and increase or decrease property value for letterSpacing, to achieve the effect. Why such basic manipulation of text can not be done via motion tween?
I want to make the following gallery of images: [URL]. I refer to the section of the medium, which include pictures and a menu that is sliding to click. That is the menu that I create and can not do it.
I'm doing a simple commercial animation for school and it is about raising gas prices.I wanted to animate numbers rising but can't find ANYTHING close to what i need
I am trying to create animation which is based on user input on speed and distance... also it needs to work consistently on different screens and resolutionwhat functions do i use to get the pixel size of the container where the animation is playing- to make the calculations?
[URL]..the animated glowing effect on the buttons. One, I can't get any mouse events to respond in the skin. I can't seem to find others with this problem. In the below code, startAnimation is never getting called when a mouse over occurs, but the event is apparently getting registered. To test this code, simply add skinClass="ButtonSkin" to a button declaration in your main application, the code below being the ButtonSkin.mxml file.
[Code]...
EDIT I found out why mouse events weren't firing. The button apparently has mouseChildren false by default, which specifically prevents events from firing lower than itself. Using parent.mouseChildren = true; in the constructor fixes this issue. On to the next part of the question: continuous animation.

How to construct the following in Flash 8 as 2. I have several items that need to be shown in a text field list, the list needs to update as a new item is to be displayed also the new item has to move up or down depending on how many items are on the list. For example the list has 6 items available, the fist three are a higher priority than the last three.
oranges apples mangoes trucks cars boats
When items are called for example oranges we will have oranges in the text field If the second item is called say trucks this will go below oranges, If no oranges are called this will go in the top text field. if we remove an item the remaining field will move up so there are no gaps in the text field. For example start out with oranges only oranges (top of list)
Next case add trucks Oranges(top of list) trucks Next trucks only (remove oranges) trucks( at top of list)
Next add and apples and oranges Oranges ( top of List) apples trucks
Next add boats Oranges ( top of List) apples trucks boats
Next remove trucks [Oranges ( top of List) apples boats
The actual movie clip is an aircraft caution and warning display that updates when faults occur. I know I can use an array to to populate the text field but I am not sure what to use to create the correct animation effect.
I want the page to be drawn as in intro animation. For example the screen is blank at first and then the image is drawn from the outside in a thin line until the whole page is drawn and then fade the lines into the actual design.
I am currently working on Flash 8 tool. I wanted to know how to create a text effect on mouse click in Flash 8. I have tried simple text effects like fade in and out and zoom out effects, however these effects are not mouse enabled. How to create text effects in flash 8 on a mouse click i.e. text should appear when the mouse is clicked. I am also attaching the SWF file that I generated from a flash document. Attachments: dummy14.swf (17.7 K)
I am creating an interactive animation of a cat you can stroke, rub, poke etc. I have implemented some basic functions in an attempt to recognize the different gestures, I am using the mouse down and mouse up events to track the duration and distance of the click.
My problem with this is that the 'distance' is measured from the start point and end point of the click, so if it ends near where it started you won't be able to tell how many times the click has 'rubbed' back and forth. Is there anyway to track the distance based on the full path of the click?
I got an FLA from flashden and deserately need to customizing it. I am trying to make the Text dynamic (FROM XML) but I still want to keep the animation in the file. I have attached the FLA. I want the xml to have to options. One for the Main name and one for the subtext.
Right now it reads: Advanced XML Website
I want the word advanced changed form one variable in xml and the word XML web site changed from another variable in xml. So it can read: Franks Great Website or Bobs Test Portal
If the font can be centered and stretched to fit that would be great. I want to make the text scale to automatically fit the dynamic text boxes...
here is some code for a rotating crank that controls an image gallery. refer to the "image viewer stops?" thread in the flash mx forum (sorry don't know how to link to a forum yet!) for more info. attached is the fla. i want to be able to crank clockwise to scroll images forward and counterclockwise to scroll images backwards. If i keep cranking, i want the images to continue to change, if i stop cranking, i want it to stp on that image. it doesn't sem tooooo hard, i'm just numb from tryig to figure it out.
I'm creating an animated background/flash animation, in short I have several tweened pieces all moving/swinging around and I want them all to loop at the end of their individual loops. Each piece is on its own layer) I have been using gotoAndPlay(2); (I'm using a preloader so frame 2 is the start). The problem is (If I'm correct here) is the first layer to reach the end runs the "go to and play" resetting everything!. I want each layer to act independantly. Is there a different version of gotoAndPlay(2); that will work or am I looking at things like nested animations/importing individual fla's ect (all of which goes over my head).
