Flash :: Gallery Displaying Low Quality Images?
Oct 3, 2009
I have a flash swf gallery that links to my flickr images via the flickr api. If I click on the index.html page on my local desktop then the main images (jpgs) are displayed high quality via IE8, however when I upload the swf and html page to my server when I access it via http the images are highly pixellated and low quality anyone know why on my desktop via the browser its fine, but when viewing through the server the images are low quality pixellated etc [URL]

My picture size is about 1000px by 1000px. It's pretty big, but simple. It has large circles, & when I place it in Flash, the circle's edges become pixelated and choppy, and not at all as smooth as it was in Photoshop. How can I maintain the quality? I tried putting a JPG in and a PSD, both of them looked really bad.

I am creating simple drawings in Power Point and them saving them as png or jpg files. I then bring the drawing into Flash using import to stage. The imported drawings lose some quality (e.g. straight lines appear jagged). Any way to maintain image quality when importing images into Flash.

In it are about 20 thumbnails that, when clicked, open up into large ~750x600 images. The images contain some text on them. In Flash itself, the images open up properly and look great. But when the site is placed on the web (and the html code below is used), the images are resized to smaller, poorer quality and the text (on the images) is practically unreadable. I have tried the images as jpegs and pngs - both look crappy on the web.
I use the following html code to make the site fit peoples' various browser window sizes. This is what is causing my problem, because when I don't use this html code the images look fine. But, I NEED to use this code in order for the site to fit various browser windows.
HTML Code:
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"
WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="100%" id="index.swf">
[Code]....
So how can I make my site fit the browser window WITHOUT ruining my images in the process? How can I 1) keep the image sizes constant, or 2) let the images resize along with the rest of the site, but keep them in good quality?

I am having this problem with the firefox browser. I made a full flash site that contains a gallery ( xml ) and it works fine in I.E.. however, in firefox, the images in the gallery wont show. The gallery page stays blank, and just the "loading" text.. And also, I tried uploading it to a local server and it worked well for i.e and even firefox, the problem arises when we upload it to the main server.. The images wont show up again..

I have a simple Flash gallery which reads from a xml file. Everything worked well but suddenly one of the images (image10.png) doesn't show up, all I get is an 'X'. All the images are in the correct folders as I haven't moved them. It's the second item that doesn't work (in bold).
Code:
<?xml verticalsion="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<gallery
width="800"[code]..........

I've been working with the xml photo gallery tutorial on this site, and pretty much have it the way I want, except I am having some serious issues with the image sizes and quality, and cannot figure this one out.. The problem is that when the jpg images are loaded in dynamically they look horrible in quality. I searched and searched for an answer to this and couldn't really find anything that I had already tried... The only thing I could really think of was to rebuild my site at a larger scale and publish with 'match movie' instead of 'percent'.
After all that work... I'm having something very crazy going on, but it should help diagnose the problem.. When I rebuilt the site and re-did the images to match the exact pixels, for some reason now they are super big. I've looked at my code and can't see any scaling going on.. I don't know what is happening, so I'm going to supply all available resources:

I'm trying to display dynamic JPG, GIF, PNG's from my database using php. Sorta at a loss. I checked the Flash "HELP" for a while but came up with nothing that worked. Also googled everything about "images, Flash, PHP" and "Dynamically displaying images in flash. Came up with nothing. Maybe I'm a bad googler but..... anyhow below is my simple PHP that shows an image when looked at in browser. I've tried several ways to display it in flash. It works nice if I just place the server location of my actual pic in a "loader Component", But I need it PHP-Dynamic.
<?php
session_start();
?>

I modified a version of the xml photo gallery tutorial featured on this website, and am using that. But when my images pop up the quality is horrible. I've gone through and checked everything I know to look at. Then I decided to build my flash site twice as big, and use pictures that were twice as big to get some quality. This didn't work either..

I am an inexperienced user of Flash CS4 Pro (v10.0.2). I am attempting to use the List component with ActionScript 3.0 to make a different image display when a user clicks each item in a list. I did find a tutorial that showed me how to make different text display using a dynamic text box and the following ActionScript:
[code]...
...where My List is the instance of the List component and ListText is the dynamix text box. In this case, the user clicks an item in the list, defined by the label value in the dataProvider parameter of the List component, and text displays as defined in the data value in the dataProvider parameter.
However, as I mentioned to start, what I really want to do is make images display instead of text. Can anyone provide me the steps to do this?

I'm creating a banner advertisement in Flash. It pulls all information from an XML file. Images for each product are also loaded externally. Everything is working fine except for 1 thing.
I have an image separator i'm using as a background for each product container to lend a bit of separation to each product. But when I try to add it using code it's only added to the last item. Doesn't matter if it's 10 items or 2 items...it's only being added to the last one and i'm not sure why. Anyways, i've zipped up the associated files and put it on my webserver. I'm using the Tweener class and have included that in the archive as well.
Here's a link to the archive : Project Files

I have a movie which is 1250 by 750. That is the largest it is ever going to be however I scale it down when viewed on smaller screen. The vector stuff and text scales fine, but the jpegs and pngs look very pixelated. Is there a scalemode I can set for these images that allow them to scale more cleanly?

To print images the PrintJob class must be set to "printasBitmap". If the page has text and images in the same way PrintJob needs "printasBitmap" to print the images. But this setting become text jagged, low resolution, bad quality.

i couldn't find a tutorial on this matter so i sorta started making my own hypothesis... what i'm trying to do is: have a gallery of images automatically scrolling horizontally while having the set of images loop. like at[URL]..
here are a couple of my theories and questions for AS commands to have this work:
1) display a range of pixels of an image at certain positions, i.e. if gallery is scrolling to the left, leftmost image when its parts are disappearing out of the viewing area, they become visible at the right.
2) have two instances of each image and when an image is disappearing on left, the second instance of that image comes visible on the right. this I imagine would take up more HD space.
i guess what i was wondering more about is how jager did their gallery where there's only enough images are in a set to be viewed in the viewing area.

I've built a flash XML gallery (using the kirupa tutorial) and i would like to change one thing: instead of having to wait between each image for a loading (even if it can be real quick) i'd prefer preload all images before, in the way the mcLoader class does (progressively). I've triyed some things like assigning a massLoad of the images on first frame, or loading (on first frame too) all images in a mcLoader hidden under the movieclip which loads the pictures found in the XML but none worked. I've triyed to change some lines in the code but it was a disaster too, as long as i don't really understand all the code (but only globally).

I have been trying to to trick out Chinnathambi's great photo Gallery with thumbnails project, but I want to have swf's load in instead of just images. I'm having a bit of a problem, I changed my xml targeting to have swf's instead of jpg's, the swf's load fine, the scroll function works but once the first swf is loaded in, it cashes the swf and whenever any of the other thumbnails are clicked, the cashed swf loads again, not the one in the xml for the just clicked thumbnail. This is driving me crazy, is there a way to empty the container MC on clicking the thumbnails?

Kirupa had written this fantastic tutorial: [URL] about creating a flash gallery using xml as the way of sorting the images and text for each. how to make it so flash takes any image and centers it in the masking area (for when using a vertical image with slightly different measurements).

so I made a flash photo gallery the other day and the images look fine when their on the server before they are pulled into flash via an xml file, but once they appear in the gallery within flash they appear to be washed out or desaturated a bit. At first they were under the Adobe RGB color profile but then I realized they had to be sRGB...I reuploaded the files and they are still slightly washed out. What am I doing wrong?, I want them to look the same as they do as individual files when their not pulled into flash.

So I'm creating an AS3 doc with a lot of jpegs and pngs. I'm really new to flash and the last swf I made was 5.6mb, way too big from what I read. But I haven't been able to figure out how to avoid this...I can't decrease the images sizes anymore for quality's sake. Can I store the images externally so that only the ones needed for that scene load at that time?
