Jan 23, 2012I've made a video in Flash Pro, and I want to be able to play it in Flash Catalyst. I'm using 5.5 of both versions, btw. I export the Flash Pro video to a .mov file and then use Media Encoder to make that a .flv file. I bring that file into FC and publish to web. However, when I put those 'deploy to web' files on my website, the video doesn't play. Everything else works except for the video. So I put a generic, short .flv file that I downloaded from the internet into my FC file.
I published it to my website again, and everything worked fine. The video played. So obviously the problem with my video must be in the encoding process. I read one article online that said when I export a .mov file for FC, I should make sure that I don't have 'Fast - Compressed Header' selected in the Streaming options. Well, I checked and I don't. It's just under regular 'Fast'. I've even tried converting my .mov file to a f4v file, and that doesn't work.

Sep 20, 2010I'm a bit confused with the purpose of these programs. For example if I want to create a game or utility app that runs on air. Can I design it in Flash Professional and later open in Builder for more heavy coding? Or is Catalyst supposed to be used as the design program?
I used to think that you design stuff in Flash Professional and then open the project up in Builder to do more deep coding.

Mar 30, 2011I am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.

Actionscript 3.0 :: .swf Sound Not Play In Dreamweaver?
Nov 23, 2010I'm willing to send someone my .flv because I can't see what's going wrong here. I tried loading the sound externally into my .swf and then inserting the .swf into dreamweaver and the sound didn't play when i tested the dreamweaver page in ff or ie and when i uploaded the page with all necessary files to my host and the same thing happened when I imported the sound. I'm beyond frustrated with the sound class and close to just starting over with my file and putting the sound on frames without any controls for my website's viewers. If anyone can take the time to look at my .flv i can't send the .mp3 sound file because i purchased it and don't have the right to destribute it but if any old sound file will work.

Apr 14, 2009Using Flash CS4 and having the Flash plug-in ver 10 on my PC, the generated html file will not play the swf in the browser.I noticed that the active-x javascript is now included in the header as well as the javascript portion in the body tag.But it won't play. I get the typical blank window in IE with the "X" in the upper left corner.I don't have this problem with Flash CS3.
