It results in these errors: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: UIComponent. 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method UIComponent. I'm coding an AS3 project with Flex Builder. I just updated my Flex SDK from 3.1 to 3.3. And that's IT. Now, when I try to compile I get the following errors[code]...
I am having a problem that I cannot figure out. I have searched the internet, describing as best I could and I could only find one other person with the same problem as me and no one replied to his post. Here's to hoping someone knows what is up.My App was working fine yesterday, then I added a few lines of code to a class file. When I tried to test the movie, it wouldn't compile. It would just run through all of the frames flashing each control. It does not output anything to the Output window nor the Compiler Errors window, which is odd because even when it would compile before it would output some warnings to the compiler errors window.
So I went into the class I changed and commented out the changes I made. Still will not compile.Also, when I try and go and Debug the movie, it tells me "You cannot debug this SWF because it contains no Actionscript". I've tried researching this problem as well, but it seems that this problem occurs when people are using the Document Class. I am not using a document class. My actionscript is on the frames.This same problem happened for the first time on Monday, but by tinkering with files/settings, it was fixed. That is until yesterday when i made that change.
I have a Flash builder project that I am migrating from SDK 4.1.0 to 4.5.1. This has been a relatively easy change (we are using maven for our builds, and were able to get a successful build after updating to the 4.5.1 dependencies).
As said, the project builds fine with maven and flexmojos. The issue is when opening the project in flash builder. The maven project is imported and then set as a flex project by running the maven flexmojos:flexbuilder build command.
The issue lies when certain mx components that are specified with the s: namespace are no longer accepted by the IDE, and result in an error. For example, for the following to compile:
This is just one example, and only happens for certain spark-namespaced components. Why is this? Why does this compile OK with Flex SDK 4.1.0 but not with Flex SDK 4.5.1, and what is the cause of the necessary namespace change?
Those who had started with AS2.0, mostly complain about AS3.0's restricting warnings and errors displayed at the compile time. Which was almost too weak ( and made to feel breeze ) in AS2.0 .However, recently, i was undergoing a hell time debugging, that made me realise how AS2.0 makes a slip, because of weak compilation.
Code: class MyClass { var abc:Number ;[code].....
in the above trace statement, one would always get undefined ( but no compile time error ) even when i am trying to call getAbc() which is actually a private function.
In flexbuilder 3 for some mxml files I can purposely put in syntax errors and the compiler will seem to compile the specific page(but actually not compile it) or report any errors for that page. Is there any way that you know of to get the compiler to report the errors to me so I can get it to compile the page. I've tried rebuilding all and cleaning the project already.
I have .fla called Helicopter and a movieclip in the library with a linkage of Fly. If I use the code-snippet(as a seperate class called Helicopter.as)below with Flash or Flashdeveloper it works fine. If i use FlexBuilder (Actionscript project)I get these errors. is there some settings I have to change in FlexBuilder?
Severity and Description Path Resource Location Creation Time Id 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Fly. Helicopter/src Helicopter.as line 7 1247730594859 770[code]....
Both of these are saved in files with the name same as the classes.
Both are saved a folder which also contains an fla file name hello.fla.So,when test the movie(hello.fla),after choosing the document class as WavyBall,I get these errors: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Ball.
Source: var Ball:Ball; 1120: Access of undefined property stage. Source:Ball.x=stage.stageWidth/2; 1120: Access of undefined property stage. Source:Ball.y=stage.stageHeight/2; 5000: The class 'WavyBall' must subclass 'flash.display.MovieClip' since it is linked to a library symbol of that type.What is wrong?
I'm using Flash Develop to build an as3 application using the Flex compiler. In the constructor of a particular class I have written the following code
Code: //constructor public function Test(par1:int, arr:/*int*/Array = [1, 2]){ <----- compiler shows error here
I'm following a tutorial for a gallery but it's in AS2 and I'm working in AS3. so I've had to use an event listener.As I am in AS3 i still need to add _mc at the end of the each instance name ?
Description : Once the mouse rolls over the thumb, the alpha should increase from .50-1
thumb1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayAtImg1); function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayAtImg1(event:MouseEvent):void { photos.gotoAndPlay("img1");[code].....
these are the errors
1120: Access of undefined property photos.
1119: Access of possibly undefined property onRollOver through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.
1119: Access of possibly undefined property onRollout through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.
Warning: 1090: Migration issue:The onRollOver event handler is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'mouseOver', callback_handler).
There is probably no way for this but does anyone know a method of excluding certain functions from a build by use of a meta tag and or compiler option?I want to expose some functions for testing but not have them bloat the application on production. I could create separate testing classes and test for a complier directive or option and only load them if necessary but I like the idea of having the test function on the actual object (in the class).
I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.
Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet). Again,
Ive been working on a pong game, and its coming alond well, but i have a problem with that if your score is 5, or the AI's score 5, it goes to the 'you lose/win' screen.Well, ive been working with this:
if(bluesco==5) { gotoAndStop(6); }
bluesco is the enemys score
6 is the lose frame
Ive tried everything i can, ive added _root.'s, changed the equals (to things like '=', '==', '>=4'), and tried things like 'nextFrame' instead of '(6)', ive changed the instances thousands of times, and if it helps:
score = 0; bluesco = 0;
Ive also put the top code on frames, movieclips, even buttons, but i either get these errors: Nothing happens when the score gets to 5.It goes to frame 6 as soon as the frame is loaded
Just upgraded from CS5 to CS5.5Code that worked in CS5 now gives compiler errors:Symbol 'VideoPlayerMC', Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 1, Line 211119: Access of possibly undefined property state through a reference with static type flash.events:VideoEvent.Symbol 'VideoPlayerMC', Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 1, Line 421119: Access of possibly undefined property PLAYHEAD_UPDATE through a reference with static type Class.
I have downloaded a program called "Piecemaker". Its a flash based image/album slider. Package came with a .fla file and some .as files. I want to make couple of small changes (change the hard coded text) in the code and then rebuild the .swf file. Can you please tell me how I can do that? I am not a flash/flex developer. I am a Java developer and looking for some guidance on the software I should download and how to compile/build.
im developing an application on windows using flash, compiling in AIR 2.0. This compiler lets me create a .air app or .exe app. Is any way to compile also .app apps? Like the ones who runs on a mac?
I download Flash CS5 and I try to execute it without an error message coming in and basically the program does not start.The message goes as follows:
Flash.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ?ik_treelsActive@CFlashIK@@QAE_NJ@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library FlashIK.dll.So then I tried to install the updates via the website and the AdobePatchInstaller.exe and I get this:
Some updates failed to install.
Update is not applicable.
So here I am unable to start Flash CS5. Anyone know a way to fix this issue?
I have an weird issue with a fla file. I've worked on a big project for a long time ago. I use cs4 to compile the fla and Flash Develop for the classes. Yesterday I compiled many times and suddenly CS3 stopped executing actionscript. There is no compile errors, nothing. Just doesn't execute the code. I typed a simple trace in the first frame and deleted the symbols on the stage - it didn't trace nothing.When trying to compile this file I noticed that the size of the compiled swf cut down in the end of compiling - in decreases from 700KB to 300KB. I made a size report - it is strange that action script bytes is only 6, but I have many (about 100) classes:
I have been given an SWF to edit a link in the AS code. The fact is the SWF uses some XML that is generated (actually retrieved) by PHP code from a database. menuXML.load("/sub/page/dynamic.php?genre=" + genre); so the point is we can use the same SWF 'mainfraim' and fill them with different animations/sources based on the link provided in dynamic.php?genre=### Now, I've used Flash Decompiler Gold to extract all files in the SWF and can open it again in Adobe Flash to edit it. When done I enter CTRL+ENTER and there are immediately 4 compiler errors!! Errors:
1x < Unexpected 'if' encountered > 2x < Statement block must be terminated by '}' > 1x < Ecpected a field name after '.' operator. >
How can these errors be present, when the original SWF works perfectly??! If I don't manage to solve this, I'll have to find out how to create an .php file the SWF tries to use which can select the proper resources (from a database I guess) to show them (using ?genre=###)
what changes I make to my source, compiling alway yields either a transcoding error, or a missing definition. The stack overflow link I always put in all my source, to look at for encouragement every time I feel like banging my head against the keyboard.
// Main.as package { // General imports
[code]...
Currently when I try to compile I get the following error...
C:Documents and SettingsGekoDesktopFlash estclientsrcMain.as(6): col: 31 Error: Definition com.bit101.components:Label could not be found.
and if I remove the comment from "var myLabel" or "addChild lines" in Main.as, then I get..
C:Documents and SettingsGekoDesktopFlash estclientlibMinimalComps_0_9_5_srccomit101componentsComponent.as(51): col: 4: Error: transcoding parameter 'embedAsCFF' is not supported by 'flex2.compiler.media.FontTranscoder' C:Documents and SettingsGekoDesktopFlash estclientlibMinimalComps_0_9_5_srccomit101componentsComponent.as(51): col: 4: Error: Unable to transcode /assets/pf_ronda_seven.ttf.
My classpaths are "src", "libMinimalComps_0_9_5_srcassets", and "libMinimalComps_0_9_5_srccomit101components" I'm using Flex SDK 3.5.0.12683 on Windows XP with FlashDevelop 3.2.1 RTM why I'm constantly receiving errors each time I try to build the project?
i'm suddenly experiencing errors in font rendering in my project.the following image is a square sprite with a texture and 2 dynamic text fields as children.the text itself is correct. the bottom field is a 32-bit hexadecimal color ("H: 0xFFFFF4A1"), but as you can see some of the characters are stretched ("x", "4" and "1"). it's the same in the first text field which lists each color in ARGB format.
the font being used is Myriad Pro Condensed. i was originally using Myriad Pro Bold Condensed, which i was using for months, but suddenly yesterday the font became even crazier than what's visible here so i switched. now this font is being rendered incorrectly also.
i've validated the fonts. i've deleted my ASO files.
i'm using cacheAsBitmapMatrix on the parent sprite object, but cacheAsBitmapMatrix is suppose to only affect mobile devices so i'm not sure why it would be rendering the font like this (if it's the problem) while running under ADL on my desktop.
newSwatch.cacheAsBitmapMatrix = new Matrix(); newSwatch.cacheAsBitmap = true;
this is how i'm calling the font, which is embedded in my library.
//Create Text Field private function swatchTextField():TextField { var myFont:Font = new MyFont();
[code]....
UPDATE:this error was indeed not a problem with Flash but a bug Apple introduced in Mac OS X 10.6.7 that affected the display and printing of some open-type fonts. [URL]
As with most IDEs when you type something that is an error it will highlight it with the red cross or red underline, and this is what used to happen in Flash Builder 4 but for some reason now it does not work.
I can type any old garbage and hit save, which forces the build (I have build automatically selected) and no error shows on the line, or in the Problems panel.
