Flash :: Extremely Slow To Render Any Flash Motion In CS4
Nov 24, 2009
It's extremely slow to render any flash motion in CS4. I import to the stage some material and when I try to change and create any motion the processor usage raise up to 50% and the program freezing. It will be completly useless... Is there any solution to this problem?

For some reason whenever I try to access a any of the files within a project that I'm working on it goes extremely slow. I'll click something, or type something and it'll take like 30 seconds before I actually see it do anything. I never had this problem with this project before, seems like it came out of no where. If I just make a new document, or goto another project it's fine.

I have been searching far and wide for a solution on how to offer slow motion and fast motion options for users that upload video to my webstie. There is an implementation on Google Video that has exactly what I am looking for: the option to speed up or slow down the video and continue to play the audio. The screenshot is below. I know that Flowplayer has an option to slow down or speed up video when implemented with Wowza server. However, when using that approach, there is no sound.
I have also seen the option from Enounce called MySpeed that allows video to be slowed or quickened, but this requires a browser plugin which is too much of a barrier for our users. How does Google do it? How can you add an option to a flash player to slow down or speed up video?Here is a screen shot. You can see the option to change the speed of the video to 1.5x. It also has options to go to 0.5x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2.0x, 2.5x, and 3.0x.

some of you have been trying the prerelease of Air for Android like myself. Its all great and easy peasy to export the apps to my phone but it seems to be ridiculously slow even for seemingly simple scripts.
This is what i'm trying to run at the moment and the app times out before it gets running (All the apps do get running eventually but only after the time out timer could have run over multiple times).
import flash.display.Shape;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.sensors.Accelerometer;
import flash.events.AccelerometerEvent;
[Code]...
From what I can see theres nothing actually wrong with the code from what I can see but it just takes so frickin' long to load. If I make an app with some equally simple animations it loads almost instantly. I am aware that this is only a prerelease version of the software and the documentation does say that hardware acceleration has not been added yet but whenever I watch the videos up on youtube of the Adobe team making amazing apps with obviously buckets of script running smoothly on their phone I get annoyed
P.S The processor on my phone isn't the problem either (Nexus One Eclair )

I am fixing up a php script to receive a byte64 encoded image and store it to database
Here is my problem the script takes very long time, sometimes up to 5 minutes, to respond when flash calls the script(via a post request)
(i test it with a very small image)
if i remove the byte64 encoded data from the request it loads fast, and if i call the script from the browser with no data it is fast
i tried removing all php script from the script file so no php is run, and with data it is still slow.

I am using the following code to tween an movieclip once _global.choiceMade equals 1...
onClipEvent (load) {
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
}
[code]....
The script at the top is on a movieclip these buttons are contained in called buttonHolder which does what it says, and tweens the buttons across the screen to reveal a next button once an answer is chosen.

While playing around with as' vector.sort() I found out that it behaves normally in every case except where it needs to sort a vector with only 2 or 3 distinctive values. If this is the case, the sort() function runs extremely slowly.Here's my code:
var test:Vector.<int>=new Vector.<int> ;
for (var i:int=0; i<6000; i++) {[code]....

So I'm using AlivePDF to generate a 6 page PDF with a range of text and graphics. It's a fairly large PDF, prob 4mb when saved. I need to be able to pass the PDF along with a few other variables to a PHP script that uploads the PDF and then sends an email.
Because I need to pass the PDF data along with other information, I've been using a standard POST request with URLVariables, only I Base64 encode the PDF ByteArray before sending to avoid any sort of corrupt data. This works fine, except the Base64 encode operation takes ~8 seconds, and sometimes longer on a slower machine, causing a timeout.

i have to create a movie where a text string move in horizontal.
the problem is that in the movie (800px wide) the text should go from right to left in about 7 seconds (so it have to go about 400px to the left in 7 sec).
i created a motion-tween with ease for my "text" and the tween is long (at 30fps) 30*7=210 frames.
the result is that the text DON'T MOVE FLUID... it's not a uniform movement... it's too visible the fact that it moves X pixel each x frames. it's the exact opposite of SMOOTH MOVEMENT.
How can i obtain a smooth slow-motion text movement?

I'm working with flowplayer and accordingly ActionScript. This project has slowmotion plugin, but there are two imperfections: it uses the special stream server and no sound in slow motion. Is there possibility to play flash video and audio in slow motion by just add something in ActionScript?

Tip#1: Some flash movies (mostly those with motion tweens) run slow in Firefox on some computers. To avoid this issue, do not use plug-ins perhaps provided by third-parties or drag and drop HTML programs. Just add the HTML page and flash file in your website's directory.

I'm using Flash CS4 with AS3. I want a timer to call a function at 50 ms intervals for 100 times. however the timer takes much longer than it should, which adds up to 1677 ms (1.677 seconds!) too much after 100 repeats. Am I missing something here or is the timer THAT inaccurate?

What I need is a ball to be bouncing. It needs it needs to slow down when it reaches its peak and increase speed as it falls. It needs to bounce forever at the same height. And last ... I need a button to make the ball look like its moving in slow motion (while still bouncing at the same height).
This is the closest I have come to getting it right. if you click the button when the ball is at its peak it works. but if you click any other time the ball will fly up to far (it needs to bounce the same height when in slow motion and in regular motion).
movieclips - "ball", "ground"
button - "btn"

way to play back an FLV video in slow motion. Ultimately, I would like the FLV player that I am developing to have the ability to both:
1) Play videos in slow motion; and
2) Play videos on a frame-by-frame basis (i.e. a user would click a button to advance the video one frame at a time).
Do you know how I would be able to accomplish both of these?

I have a ball bouncing that works great. What I want is a button that will make the ball look like its in slow motion (while still bouncing at the same height) and another button to put it back in regular motion. After hours of experimenting I still couldn't get it perfect. The following code is on the ball movieclip.
Code:
onClipEvent (load) {
var acceleration = 0.005;
var termVelocity = 20;

I have a project for mobile where some of my animations scenes look as though they are winding up or playing in slow motion (from the start). They start out slow for about three seconds, as if they are winding up or in slow motion, and then they run at a normal pace. It only happens on specific animations and is consistent on different devices. Also, once I come back to the scene (revisit), the animations run normally from start to finish.
I have had some success in speeding up some animation by doing the following: In some scenes, the following would occurr: 1) a character was walking 2) the character grew in size though tweening 3) the background was animated as well ect. In other words, there were several things happening in the animation. In this example, I made it less complex by keeping the character the same size and making the background static. This helped alot. However, for the aforemation animations, I have tried everything (I am aware of) and nothing has helped. I'm not sure what to do next.

I have an interesting project wherein I need to allow users to capture video of themselves with a webcam at a kiosk, after which I email them a link to their video. The trick is the resulting video needs to be a 'slow motion' version of the captured video. So for example, if someone creates a 2 minute movie, the resulting movie will be 4 minutes.I'd like to build this in Flex / AS3 if possible. I don't have issues capturing the video and storing it / generating and emailing a link, but slowing down the video is the real mind bender. I'm unsure how to approach 'batch post-processing' a set of videos using Adobe tools

I googled "as3 audio slow motion fast forward rewind" and found only this of relevance: playing slow motion, fast forward , rewind in a video player in flash video player, which briefly talks about how to fast forward and rewind a video as well as two options for doing slow motion on video. I only need audio, though. I think I might be able to do fast forward and rewind by stopping the SoundChannel and then playing the sound at a different position using addEventListener (Event.ENTER_FRAME, ~), but I'm completely lost on how to apply the advice regarding slow motion. I use Flash CS5.5 and all the sounds I want to operate on are already in the library.

Is it possible to render a pdf in a browser using PERL? What I have is a flash application that sends the rendered pdf binary to perl. The pdf is generated from AlivePDF.
#!C:Perlinperl.exe

BEGIN { $ENV{PATH} = ''; delete @ENV{ 'IFS', 'CDPATH', 'ENV', 'BASH_ENV'}; }
use strict;

This is only part of the displayed file, but I hope this helps. I don't want the code to display, I want it to look graphical. If I download this file, and change the extension to .pdf, it works perfectly.

How would you render a BitmapFilter (such as DropShadowFilter) applied to a sprite, to a seperate BitmapData Layer? which would then be placed beneath all objects.For instance if you have two rectangular sprites overlapping each other, with a DropShadowFilter applied to each, the result would be the filter overlaying and obscuring the other rectangular sprite - as shown below.
note: each filter may have different settings and so I cant just apply a uniform filter to a containing sprite. also: ideally this solution will be scalable to handle many animated sprites at the same time.

I have created a Flash application running in a browser (Firefox 3 on Windows XP). When I move this application from foreground to background and (after some time) viceversa, I notice a considerable slowdown, i.e. for about thirty seconds the application becomes unusable.
My swf is very small (~200 KB), but this swf creates *many* buttons and *many* other graphical widget (with statical images), so the RAM occupied is considerable (~150 MB).
I initially assumed that was caused by the swap mechanism of the operating system or of the browser. This was *not* true, and it was confirmed by the fact that, by default, Mozilla Firefox prevent Windows from swapping out memory when the program is minimized (see config.trim_on_minimize option). Nothing has changed even disabling the paging system of Windows.[code]...

I have a huge code execution with many loops and pre-rendering processes and I was wondering if there is a way to tell the flash player to take a little pause on the code side and do a render.
Basically I have my execusion that takes a while, and on each step I make a call to a screen and then modify the scale of a loading bar. Now the problem is that the user only sees the progress at the end, I know this is due to the fact that flash does code execution and then render, i tried to make calls to stage.invalidate to force a render but it wouldnt work until the whole execusion if finished either. Is there a way to force flash to render between two lines of code?
