View 3 RepliesI am new to Flash CS5 and I am working on a Flash animation project. I drew everything in Illustrator CS5 and imported these drawings in Flash to do the animation. I have different scenes & exported them all as separate movie clips. I was thinking of using Final Cut Pro to make the final movie, but the video quality is not good & its pixelated.and whats the most suitable render width & height for tv screening ?

This is only part of the displayed file, but I hope this helps. I don't want the code to display, I want it to look graphical. If I download this file, and change the extension to .pdf, it works perfectly.
How would you render a BitmapFilter (such as DropShadowFilter) applied to a sprite, to a seperate BitmapData Layer? which would then be placed beneath all objects.For instance if you have two rectangular sprites overlapping each other, with a DropShadowFilter applied to each, the result would be the filter overlaying and obscuring the other rectangular sprite - as shown below.
note: each filter may have different settings and so I cant just apply a uniform filter to a containing sprite. also: ideally this solution will be scalable to handle many animated sprites at the same time.
I have a huge code execution with many loops and pre-rendering processes and I was wondering if there is a way to tell the flash player to take a little pause on the code side and do a render.
Basically I have my execusion that takes a while, and on each step I make a call to a screen and then modify the scale of a loading bar. Now the problem is that the user only sees the progress at the end, I know this is due to the fact that flash does code execution and then render, i tried to make calls to stage.invalidate to force a render but it wouldnt work until the whole execusion if finished either. Is there a way to force flash to render between two lines of code?
when I try to render a cube using Away3D + Molehill, I only get a white default screen, I followed the instructions here: hhe only thing I did not do, was the part that talks about the patch, cuz If I do that I get errors like when I try to import the Sprite class, for example.Im using FB 4.5.!

do I have to pre-render scores in a game? I ask because I'd like to scale and fade in and out each score. Pre-rendering makes sense if you have to do it once only, right?
Does it take too much resources when pre-rendering each dynamically created scores individually? What are alternatives when performance of a game is important?
can flash take each frame and export it out as a image ? In my case, I want to create sprite images for a flashdevelop project using blitting. Of course I know there is a solution for this. like copy and paste each shape into a image editor such as photoshop and turn them into png's. But I am just seeing if there is a simpler means of doing so.

We have been cruising right along but around noon yesterday we developed a bug that causes the swf to not render until you refresh the page. On subsequent refreshes it pops up right away. The problem happened even when I disabled the code that checks in with the Rails server. How could refreshing make a difference?
View 1 RepliesI would like to write a python script that takes a bunch of swf files and renders them to individual image files.Each swf file has just one frame (text, pictures etc.) and no animations at all. I have already tried the render command from the swftools toolset (The windows version), but the resolution of the resulting image is too low.So what I need is:Acommand line tool (Windows/Linux) or a python library which renders one frame from a swf to a bitmap or better to something like a PDF (It would be cool if the text data could be retained). It would be great if the target resolution/size could be set manually.
View 3 RepliesI am using Papervision3D Flash 3D engine to render a model. Also I am noob in 3D =D Model is simple, it's a parallelepiped with different textures on its sides. All works just fine except one thing: whenever I change my visual angle to a model from 90° textures on the sides are distorted. I notices that it is common effect in 3D graphics, I saw that effect in games and other 3D renderers (i.e. away3D, three.js) even wth different 3D models. Distorted texture on object (different view angle): Normal texture on object (same object and texture) (view angle == 90°): What is the reason of this effect?
View 1 RepliesI want to draw some combination of bitmaps, flash shapes, vectors, text etc and draw them programmatically into my movie using ActionScript, and then get every "rendered" pixel of my movie (at 100% view) into an array that I send to another program over TCP/IP. The first part of the question is if its possible to render a frame that is a collection of Flash elements as a bitmap? I know that I can iterate through a bitmap and get every pixel using the getPixel method but I'm trying to access the final rendered frame displayed on my screen, including, as I said Flash shapes and text.
The second question is what would be the best way to send this "video frame" over TCP/IP? Would I use an XML socket connection? That is the only way I know how to send data out of Flash over TCP/IP but I don't know if it is the only way - the help page says the data needs to be formatted as XML, which seems unwieldly for this application. I'm doing this now by using Max/MSP/Jitter to do a screen capture the size and location of my Flash movie and then send out the resulting matrix using a "jit.net.send" object (which lets you send frames of video over TCP/IP), but this is too clumsy for the installation I am building.
I have a series of equirectangular images. I'd like to display them in a custom Flash player so that the user could see the spherical nature of the images, and "look up", "look down", "look left/right" (or pan, zoom, etc). (Note that I have a long series of images, so the library must allow for dynamic loading of the images themselves, rather than having the images "baked" into the SWF player.)
What is the best library to manage the display of the equirectangular images in Flash? By "best", I mean the most mature, most reliable, most robust, and fastest performing.[URL]...
I have a really strange issue. If I insert a flash video from YouTube, BlipTV, JW Player etc. the text on the page is jagged and the links from the "Pages" drop down menu that overlays the video are all bunched up. This problem only occurs in Safari, you can see it for yourself here: cannot pinpoint why this is happeningEDIT: Fixed this myself by adding position: static to the list items. It seems position: relative was causing the problem.
View 1 Repliesi have the ingame sprite and it needs to be in StageQuality.LOW due to some prerformance problems, and the hud needs to be in StageQuality.HIGH... but they are in the same stage. I tried changing quality before rendering the ingame (to a big bitmapdata) but changing this property every frame is too expensive.

I need a compiled and ready-to-use Flash lib, which is able to draw in browser basic primitives (contours, points and labels, not just a charts), described in XML given to the script. It is desirable that the library had at least basic functionality for styling displayed objects: gradients, borders, basic animation, HTML markup. GPL and other free licenses are preferred.

View 2 RepliesFor a current project I need to create 25 versions of 5 different banner sizes. By version, I mean having slightly different content, namely: a different image and different text somewhere in the banner.
Let's, for this question, suppose I'll make sure somehow that said images and texts will all fit fine in the design for that particular size, so that I could create some sort of template per size, with some sort of placeholders for them. What is an efficient method, if any, to automate the rendering of these differing versions per size? Is it possible?

Does anyone have any knowledge (preferably with links to make it official) about how/if Flash/Flex culls objects not in view, to stop them getting drawn when not needed? A specific cases: I have an 800x600 panel (a Canvas or Sprite, or other container) containing loads of Sprites representing individual game objects like asteroids or spaceships or missiles or map-tiles. The game world might be 5000x5000 so can I naively position Sprites anywhere in this range and let Flash cull them effectively? Or do I need to manage visibility somehow at a higher level (like manually removing them from the parent) to avoid performance issues?

I want to be able to load a template from a string, and then render it as a display object. The kinds of things that would go inside would include text, with possible font styles, text positioning, and images.
