IDE :: Cannot Preload Or Buffer The Quicktime Movie

I have been browsing different tutorials on video here at Kirupa but I always stumble on how to control my quicktime movies. I have a project and it involves loading a couple of quicktime movies. My main problem is that I can not preload or buffer the quicktime movie so that it plays continuously. In the editing stage, when I imported my quicktime movie, I chose a controller to forward and backward the movie scenes, but when you publish it, it's not showing. I tried to search for tutorials here at Kirupa but it seems I keep on bumping on a dead end. I have a problem with a video clip I imported to my flash movie. When I am on the editing screen, I can see that there is a TOOL BAR below the movie. But when I publish it, it doesn't show anything at all in the browser. The movie then is not preloaded. And by the way, I placed a preloader at the beginning of the frame but it seems that the movie is not preloaded so it jitters as it plays frame by frame. [URL]

When I try to export a Quicktime movie from the Export>Export Movie, I get this error message:Error creating Flash movie file.Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long.A few things I've tested:
- Saving to different drives - all of which are not locked.
- changing the file name to one single word followed by .mov
- saving the flash file as a new file and trying again
- opening the file on a different machine and exporting
None of these have fixed the problem. Every time I get the same error. I've been able to export swf movies and also JPEG sequences, but I'd much rather be able to export the Quicktime movie since I need to bring this into FCP and the Flash movie has sound in it as well, so with the JPEG sequence I'd have to lay in the audio again.

I'm having trouble exporting my flash movie to quicktime. I receive the error: The installed version of Quicktime does not support this type of Macromedia Flash movie. Quicktime requires Macromedia Flash version 5 or before. Please select "Version: Flash player 5" in the Flash tab of the Publish Settings dialog. I've tried changing the settings to every Flash versions 1 - 5, none of which seems to resolve the problem. I continue to get the same error message when I try to publish. I'm using Flash 8 and Quicktime version 7.7.5.

I have a dozen Flash CS3 documents that I am exporting to Quicktime for placement into Keynote. Some are 1024x768 and others are 1024 x 337. After I exported 1/2 dozen movies or so at the 1024 x 337, I tried to export one at 1024 x 768. Flash decided to squish it down to 1024 x 337. Now all of my movies are being squished to this dimension regardless of the actual dimensions. I have not changed any settings in the export window. This was working properly all week and now it decided to squish the movies.

I have a JavaScript function that loads a flash movie into a webpage div using swfobject.embedSWF(). I want to be able to, alternatively, load a .mov file into the same div, in the event that this is the file found instead of the .swf. Is there a close equivalent to swfobject.embedSWF for the purposes of embedding a .mov file? If not, what is an efficient route to doing this using JavaScript?

I have employed two different methods to embed an flv movie in webpage, but both result in studdering because the movie catches up to the buffer. I can't figure out what is wrong... is the frame of 30fps rate too high? is my method of embedding the files and playback wrong? Or is it just a function of the viewer's internet speed?

I have designed a Flash animation for a client who has asked me to also provide it in a format which can be used in a film he wants to produce in Apple Final Cut Pro. I assumed the best format would be QuickTime but whenever I export the Flash file in to QuickTime the quality of the film is awful - the graphics leave fragments of themselves behind as they move (if that makes sense?!) and the overall quality isn't very crisp.

I am new to Flash so this may be a basic question, but I have not been able to find anything in the help files or the forums. I have tried several times to change the size of my quicktime movies, from 550 pixels by 400 pixels to 480 pixels by 480 pixels, and I cannot seem to do it. I have used "Modify > Document" and tried every option I could find through this command. Each time I export I double check that the export settings match my desired size, and they do, but when I open the movie in quicktime, it has been stretched to fit 550 x 400 pixels. The preview movie looks exactl how I want, it is only the exported movie that is incorrect. Is it possible to make a quicktime movie of the size I would like, or is that a standard format that cannot be adjusted?
As a workaround, I have tried squeezing my 480x480 content into the 550x400 stage (while scaling it prportionally). but when I do this, the square of content is not centered in the background in quicktime. It is off center in the preview movie as well, and this commonly occurs after I have used "modify > document" to change the size of the document. The side to which it is aligned seems to be inconsistent. Is there a way to realign the video after I have modified the document size? Does changing the document size through "modify > document" affect the centering and alignment of my video? Is there a way to change it back?

I am having this issue with Flash CS5 Mac version:After making an animation, I export movie as Quicktime. When I view this movie, the animation leaves trails of color when an object moves across the screen, leaving behind little bits of color too. This does not happen when I export a SWF, but it does happen when I export a Quicktime movie. I export using Quicktime, so I can then I can export it into a flv in Adone media encorder.Why does this happen?

1- Main movie (index.swf) in 190KB size with a preloader.
2- Sound movie (Sound.swf) in 880kb in size. (A volume control bar and the music in different layers)
3- A placeholder for sound movie inside the main movie.
Problem: When page starts, the index.swf preloads and starts correctly, after that the movie begins. The thing I want ( and I can not do is) the sound bar to preload in the preloader and then the control bar to become vissible while music starts. you can both use loading the external swf to main movie or user another method.

I've got a preloader file for a website which loads my main movie into an empty movie clip. I need to create different versions of the loader which load the same main movie but at different frame labels (each frame label is a section my site- about, contact etc.) Here is the relevent part of the actionscript for my preloader. There are a ton of flash sites out there that preload a movie and when the loading is finished have an "enter" button. That enter button sometimes launches a new window with the already loaded swf. However, I have a main movie and in there I open the multiple scenes. If I use the preloader alone with the scenes it works, but when I want to load the preloader that should open the scenes inside the main movie it doesn't do anything.

So I have a movie containing some content that I would like to pre-load. I made the pre-loader and it works fine but it could be more friendly for the user. Because the movie is quite long in duration, I think its good enough if I only load say the first 35% of the movie and then let the remaining 65% download while the user is watching the first 35%. Is there a way that I can modify my pre-load script to do this to say something like: 'load content for frames 10 to 200, play from 10'.

I am trying to preload images for an image gallery ina flash movie.
i have the images externally loaded so as not to bloat the swf but how do i start a preload for all the images when someone gets to the home/front page, so that by the time they get to the image gallery everything is loaded in memory so there's no delay?

I'm trying to get a preload movie clip (progress_clip) to show up when an image is being pulled from the xml data bank and then shut the visiblity to false when the image is done loading. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong any bump in the right direction would be very cool.
