Any Way to make a gameplay time counter? I did make one but it only showed seconds and milliseconds (with gettimer())). As soon as the player hit the button "submit" the time has to start to count. As the player reached his maximum turns the game goed to the next frame and the timer should top. The game starts over (from frame2) so the timer has to begin over again.
View 4 RepliesI'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.

View 6 RepliesI am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.

Based on my experience with other components and with loading content into movie clips, I expected that I would point my scroll pane to its content and be off and running, but that hasn't happened.

I want to tell Flash to perform an action when that movie clip hits another movie clip in the main timeline. It's just collision detection for a game using the hitTestObject code. I was thinking of using MovieClip(root), but that won't work since it's nested so much.

I don't know if I should have the initial movie clip on custom cursor or have it set to drag... but either way I don't know how to make the second clip the "reflection follow along. Obviously it would need to follow at a slightly offset pattern so that you would be able to see both clips (or majority of them) at the same time. So I need to resize and redo thsoe movieclips. I make one banner and then save as new file and resize it. It is really annoying.. I am on P.C. and have all the current updates installed.

Each movie clip is on a single slide.
They play through and when a clip reached the end I have used the actionscript root.gotoAndPlay(x) where x is the slide number of the next clip in the sequence as such my timeline looks like this[code]...
We're making a viral video which is going to be distributed as FLV movie file free for download and redistribution.
I don't know much about flash yet but I can imagine FLV is just some sort of special flash application which can also include arbitrary code.
Is it possible to track how many times that movie file has been played by letting the FLV file perform a server-callback when playback begins?

I am making a flipping page book in flash and have had to create sections in different movies because it kept crashing when i tried to have all the pages in the same movie. I have 3 movies 'page flip4', 'pageflip4-2', and 'page flip 4-3' . I have used the code below to go (flip bacwards) from 'page flip4-2' to the frame label ''backflip'' in 'page flip4'..This works fine

I modified the loadBar from one of the popular preload scripts out there. What I am making is a progressbar, sorta like the ones you see in movie previews. But it doesn't seem to o work quite right. I am looking for a way to fade in a white movie clip over my main movie when a button is pressed.
(i.e. When you press a button, a white rectangle will fade in over all other layers and then fade out after a couple of seconds. This is to make it look like the different pages are fading in and out without having to build the transition over and over again.)

I pieced this current code based on various articles I've found on the net.
Does someone have a working fla to illustrate how to load an external movie and zoom and pan to specific location of this movie (with easing)? With actionscript, not necessarily with a control for the user. I am looking for it for some time and unfortunately my programming abilities are not yet sufficient to find it out from scratch (but I am working on it).

Currently, I am well able to load one movie into a movie "loader" clip, but thought maybe there is a way to load additional movie clips into that same "loader" clip, as i am starting to accumulate several different graphics that i need to have be inside movie clips so that i can make them change colors on the same frame when needed.

I have a flash banner that includes a movie clip of the logo being animated. I want the logo animation to only run at the beginning of the main "movie". Currently I have to find the length of the entire movie (for ex. 500 frames) then put a key frame in at the 500th frame of the logo movie clip. I know there has to be a correct way to do this...Do I add a frame name at the end of the main timeline and somehow in AS in the logo movie clip say "when you reach X goToAndPlay(1);"?
View 1 RepliesI have 2 EXTERNAL movies being loaded with initial load of my site into my main.swf, one of which (movingbg.swf) is being loaded with a preloader. The problem is that my other movie (menubar.swf) is loaded before my first movie. I think I should use the _visible property to solve this and here is what I have so far...

- i have 3 separate movie clips (a,b,c)
- my main movie is (a) and when i click a button there, it will go to external movie (b)
- under external movie (b) there's a movie clip that includes my animation and content button
- if i click on the content button on movie (b), external movie (c) will pop up [ it will not replace movie (b) but will just overlap it, it's like a small pop up ]
i did the actionscript and when i'm testing external movie (b), it's working... it's showing/popping up movie (c) but when i tried it on the main movie (a), the movie (c) is not popping on the (b) err, sorry if it's a bit confusing / how i explained it. but hopefully somebody will get the idea. and it won't also return on the main movie (a) when i click on a link from the external movie.
I have to make a flash movie that would allow the user to control the framerate of the movie. Unfortunately I'm not that good with flash and I don't know how that could be done ..I thought about something like
