so I have buttons that launch a new html page via: getURL("xxxx.html", "_blank");but users have to approve Internet Explorer (and the like) to approve popups.. when they do it restarts the flash movie - namely restarting the whole site. Are there any workarounds? do i have any options?
View 2 RepliesI have a flash movie (simple video player) that is nested within a DIV, which is itself nested in a jQueryUI-Draggable DIV. Thus flash-object < div < div.ui-draggable
Now when I dynamically add/remove a class to the draggable DIV (in this case minimized which gives it a smaller size), Firefox (both 3.6 and 4 Win & Mac) will always restart the flash movie, which also restarts the video playing in that movie.
Webkit, Opera and even IE (Trident) don't give me that issue.
To clarify: I embed the flash object with the jQuery SWFObject plugin, wmode is opaque, and all the CSS declarations use absolute pixel dimensions, no % or ems involved.
when I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far): [URL] the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again. Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page. The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.

I have a webpage (popup) with flash content. When a user clicks a button inside the flash content, it opens up another browser popup window. Next, I need to close the window with flash content from the newly opened popup window through javascript.
The problem is that the window.Opener is null as the popup is invoked inside from flash content. Moreover we dont have access to flash (.FLA) file.

View 1 RepliesI have to put multiple Flash movies on a page and I'd like them to share modal popups, so that access to the entire page is denied while a popup is active. I can do this via Javascript and create HTML popups via the ExternalInterface class, but I would love to be able to do this entirely in Flex using the PopupManager class.
Note: This is not for any evil purpose. I just need to make sure none of the other movies' buttons are clicked before the user responds to the first thing they clicked. Also, some of the movies are quite small and can't contain some of the popups they require.
We have a Flash swf object embedded in an html page. When the user sees the page it's just a small button, but on the rollover state the area of the object expands and covers more of the page. This is how it was designed. The problem seems to be that the maximum size of the swf object, even though it's transparent and "invisible" unless the user rolls over the button, blocks out all the underlying html so you can't access any of the links. It's as if the object is covering that part of the page even when it's not expanded. I've tried every publish setting I can imagine to compensate and make the item truly transparent so the "hidden" underlying links will still be clickable, but just can't get it.
View 1 RepliesIm trying to use a loop to set up 4 rows of 10 "blocks" in flash. I have a movieclip with an idName of "Block". My idea was to imbed the singular row of blocks loop within the loop of rows so that it generates the four rows quickly and all at once. I was trying to use the following code but it doesn't work. It seems to show only the last block in the loop and I did some echo checking at the end and found that after the loop completes, there are no activated blocks. I found this by doing another loop and tracing all the blocks _x properties which all returned undefined.....even the last one which was still visible...:

Many people install an add on to their browser - such as Flashblocker, or FlashOff - in order to stop annoying advertisements from auto-running. Is it possible to detect that this has been done, and then (obviously) use JScript to put up an alternative if this is the case?
If you cannot do this, then there is really no point to using Flash's higher functions, because the majority of users will see them only if they click a gray panel with a hopeful button in the middle of it. Flash becomes merely a decorative bolt on for web applications.
Is anyone else seeing this is there any real information about how / when and what kinds of rendering rules there? I don't even know if the preview is live or cached. Googling for google preview is not all that helpful, I don't see any guides or help files coming up.

I got the streaming set up fine so that it streams mp3s using the VOD application, but quite regularly the stream will just cut out and the VOD application in the administration section will just disappear and restart with 0 clients. It doesn't even happen when I have that many connected clients, at times it's happened with just 15 users, and i've had Red5 running over 200 clients at a time.

Yes, this is a newbie question and I'm a little surprised I can't find any mention of this anywhere. I have a flash banner that replays when my page posts back. I there a trick to this or do I have to resort to something heavy handed, like replacing the flash with the jpg on postback or writing some sort of javascript to check for postpack and setting the play attribute to false.

I see lots on the Internet games based in Flash so I thought that would be my best starting point to make actual graphic based games... (not to mention I actually got taught at university how to use flash to a certain extent). The game I decided upon was tetris. I'm sure you're all familiar with the block based puzzle game and might be able to shed some light upon what I am doing right and what I am doing wrong. So, I've firstly made my game screen with a window for all the blocks to come down in.
I've also put some dynamic text place holders ready for when I come to keeping track of how many 'lines' the player has scored, the time and so on in the right hand side of the screen. I have made graphics for the different colour 'building blocks' (just one block of 24x24 in different colours for each shape) and then used the 'building blocks' multiple times to create my shapes (I, J, L, O, S, T, Z). These blocks are called tetrominoes. Now I've come to a point where I need to import these tetrominoes randomly from the library and get them to appear in the middle just off the top of my block screen.
How do I import random objects from a particular folder in my library to the stage in Flash CS5 AS3? After realising a quick solution to my problem was not to be found quickly I then thought about what will happen to this block once it has been imported... Well, in Tetris the block moves slowly down until it hits another block or the bottom of the block screen. I know that I can do something with a detectHit() function. How do I get my block to move down the screen by a set amount of pixels every second or so?
I'm loading a swf-file from my program written in as3 using the flash.display.Loader class. When I'm using the debug build configuration in FlashDevelop everything works fine. But when I'm using the release build configuration the program freezes for around two seconds efter the loader sends the progress events and before sending the complete event.

After around two seconds where the program is frozen the line Completed on frame: 2 is added and the 'On frame X' counter starts ticking up. Debug build produces the same output but without the freeze.
Not all swf-files I have tried loading triggers the problem. The size of the file doesn't seem to affect anything. I have tried compiling and running on another computer with the same result.
Edit: I noticed that if the program is compiled with debug=true the flash player takes around two seconds to start, the same length of time the flash player is frozen when debug=false.
We know set wmode to transparent in flash player can reveal pulldown menu behind the flash player but this seems not always true. Take a look at this , when the video starts to play, it still block the pulldown menu. I've used browser debug tool to check the code of that video player, it did set wmode to transparent
View 1 Repliesi have an fla file with 5 keyframes. Each keyframe navigates forward to the following keyframe. On the fifth keyframe, a Loader loads an external swf. The external swf has an flv playback component with sound.
The fifth keyframe, other than having a button to click to load the swf, has a movie clip that navigates you back to the first keyframe. The loaded swf, once loaded, may be removed using removeThis function which has removeChild code as well as a flv.stop(); which makes the flv stop when the swf is removed. So u're back on keyframe 5, no sound ASo, all is well and the user can navigate back to the first keyframe (from keyframe 5), and from there continue on to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th keyframes again, problems start though, when you get to that 5th keyframe again: that keyframe has an FLVPlayback component playing an flv, which at that point becomes very sluggish as all the mc animations on that 5th frame. And worse, i realize, the flv in the external swf that was previously loaded, starts playing by itself, which i know, because i hear its sound track.
I tried putting a conditional statement to tell the _flv to stop on keyframes 1 and 5, but that causes errors, considering that the flv is an undefined property from the perspective of those keyframes.
What code would I need so that once I get to the end of an application, you can click a button so it restarts going back to the beginning?

How do I get it to stop forever? Also, how do i get this button to have two functions, off and on.. without embedding the audio, I want it to start and stop the streaming audio.
View 1 Repliesi need to track the mouse movements(and register what component is under the mouse), it is done already, but i meet new problem, if click right button then context menu will be opened and no any new events(mouseMove, mouseOver) received by my components. I understand that this context menu is more browser then flash/flex and afaiu the is no way to disable context menu at all. So may be somebody know any trick to avoid this events blocking?

I have built a button that launches the player into a seperate window so that people can surf the site and listen to the music simultaneously. There is only one problem!! In IE the window is being block by the browser's inbuilt popup blocker. I have tested other sites that feature similar functionality and popups are not blocked!?
Has anyone experienced this issue before and do you have a workaround?

I'm working on a project that requires a draggable map that has buttons that popup onrollover. Inside the popup will be a brief discription and and link that should carry you to another part of the move. Problem is, I don't know how to deal with the fact that buttons/rollover have become "inactive" because their in my draggable map. I am using startDrag for the map.
