Yes, this is a newbie question and I'm a little surprised I can't find any mention of this anywhere. I have a flash banner that replays when my page posts back. I there a trick to this or do I have to resort to something heavy handed, like replacing the flash with the jpg on postback or writing some sort of javascript to check for postpack and setting the play attribute to false.

but it doesnt aplly html tags because of embedFonts... i tried to make style using css but didnt work is there any way to accomplish this?

I inserted the swf in 'insert media' - 'shockwave' and the thing works when I press play to view it within dreamweaver. However, when I try to view it on a browser, either locally or remotely, it doesn't work.
I took a .flv and placed it in a .swf in Flash Professional CS5 (for smoother playback on my website), and I used Dreamweaver to embed the .swf on one of my webpages. The video plays back fine, but there are no playback controls. In Dreamweaver, I set "PLAY" and "LOOP" to false, so in order to play my video, I have to right-click it and press "Play." That seems odd and possibly confusing/inconvenient for anyone viewing my website (particular potential employers, because this is my online portfolio). how to add playback controls? I don't want to use any external players (like Flowplayer), as I am trying hard to avoid watermarks and having to pay for anything extra.
Interesting note: when I used Dreamweaver to insert the .flv, I had the option to select from a list of playback controls. However, the .flv did not play smoothly on my website, and I found the solution to place the .flv in an .swf for nicer playback.
I made a .swf that loads a .xml file from a directory called "xml".That file lists the images that are to be loaded into the .swf.The .swf is embedded into an html file.The issue we are seeing is that if you don't include "www" in the url, the images don't get loaded (??!).But the .swf is running, and all the html and css works.If you use "www" in the url, everything works perfectly.[code]

If I make a button outside flash which triggers the button and then the postback everything works fine.

In case there is less line breaks (<br />) the text in the last paragraph is shown truncated from the beginnng (so it's like "ny way to make the space..."). Is this a bug in Flash Player or is there any way to render text below embered swf better?

so I have buttons that launch a new html page via: getURL("xxxx.html", "_blank");but users have to approve Internet Explorer (and the like) to approve popups.. when they do it restarts the flash movie - namely restarting the whole site. Are there any workarounds? do i have any options?
View 2 RepliesI just purchased and installed FMS for my music streaming service. I got the streaming set up fine so that it streams mp3s using the VOD application, but quite regularly the stream will just cut out and the VOD application in the administration section will just disappear and restart with 0 clients. It doesn't even happen when I have that many connected clients, at times it's happened with just 15 users, and i've had Red5 running over 200 clients at a time.

i have been reading all over looking how to get flash to resize and i have seen all about setting the height and width to 100% but these all seem to be when the swf IS the webpage.i'm looking to embed just a piece of flash into my html page, which i need to resize on browser resize.

View 2 RepliesI have embedded an automatic slideshow as a swf file into a website I'm designing for my parents. When I test the swf file, it performs exactly as expected but when I embed it into the html, it just sits there and doesn't run/animate/whatever.
The slideshow (should) automatically run through a group of 7 photos, with a fade transition and was all done with actionscript, loading the external jpeg files into alternate movieclip containers etc etc.

View 2 RepliesI am using swfin to embed a swf object (video player) and it loads fine in all browsers, but in firefox it won't "start".I have to right click on the movie area and "start" is unchecked so I click on "start" and it will start just fine. Yet, in chrome and IE (haven't moved to a mac for testing yet) it fires up and starts just as I expected. I have tried swfobject instead of swfin and I have IE issues that I couldn't seem to correct. Hence moving to swfin.Here is the swfin code:

I am using swf object to embed a swf into a html page. When I compile the swf there are no errors yet when I embed it into a web page i keep getting thrown either one of these two errors the first time the page loads in Safari and Chrome TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference at tracks/loadFlashvars()[code]In firefox I get thrown the same errors everytime the page loads. View 1 RepliesI am creating a Flash project for a fundraising event and tend to test it every now and again. It is an accordion menu. It is going on a html page. I want the height to be relative to the width and the width to equal 100% of the browser window. When I set the html publish settings, I set it to 100% width & height. Then I embedded a swf using the loadmovie() method. I published it again. Everything seemed to be working OK but when my menu loads with the embedded swf, it goes back to normal size (actual size of project - 450x230).

View 1 Repliesi have an fla file with 5 keyframes. Each keyframe navigates forward to the following keyframe. On the fifth keyframe, a Loader loads an external swf. The external swf has an flv playback component with sound.
The fifth keyframe, other than having a button to click to load the swf, has a movie clip that navigates you back to the first keyframe. The loaded swf, once loaded, may be removed using removeThis function which has removeChild code as well as a flv.stop(); which makes the flv stop when the swf is removed. So u're back on keyframe 5, no sound ASo, all is well and the user can navigate back to the first keyframe (from keyframe 5), and from there continue on to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th keyframes again, problems start though, when you get to that 5th keyframe again: that keyframe has an FLVPlayback component playing an flv, which at that point becomes very sluggish as all the mc animations on that 5th frame. And worse, i realize, the flv in the external swf that was previously loaded, starts playing by itself, which i know, because i hear its sound track.
I tried putting a conditional statement to tell the _flv to stop on keyframes 1 and 5, but that causes errors, considering that the flv is an undefined property from the perspective of those keyframes.
What code would I need so that once I get to the end of an application, you can click a button so it restarts going back to the beginning?

The site in question is [URL] - I've got streaming audio playing as background music, however after someone clicks the stop all sounds button it stops, however when the background music reaches the end of it's timeline, it starts back up again. How do I get it to stop forever? Also, how do i get this button to have two functions, off and on.. without embedding the audio, I want it to start and stop the streaming audio.

I am working with loadVars in an swf file embedded in an html page. The script is written to add a text string to existing textfield. The documentation I have does not address this situation. How do I get the return value from the server to the embedded SWF file in this situation?

Right now it is making the space behind the .swf file clickable for the link, but the Flash element is not clickable.
If the right thing to do is to edit the .swf file somehow, I don't consider myself a Flash developer, but are there any resources on where to get started or how to do something this basic with an existing .swf file?
