I don't do much flash but can sort of get myself around. I'm having issues with a classic tween in CS4. I have a jpeg of magazine covers inside an MC that repeats a scrolling left movement. The client has commented that it comes across a little jerky and isn't smooth enough.

As you can see, the image is jerky and juddery when it scales down. From what I can find out, I think I need to use the pixel snapping feature to help make it a smoother fade, but I haven't got a clue how to write the actionscript for it, or where to put the actionscript. I am attempting to create a basic Flash website to promote myself online. To do this I require a scrolling gallery of images on one of my pages.I have found and implemented a tutorial online allowing me to have a scrolling gallery, but what I need to do is include it within the rest of the pages I have created. I don't know how the code I have used for the scrolling gallery works, to allow me to use it, inside the root level page.The script says:

What I need to do, is put the scrolling gallery feature 1 level INSIDE the site, instead of on its "root". When saving the scrolling gallery feature as a movie clip, I coped the frame it was on and pasted that on the "images" page, within the navigation bar movie clip where the other page contents reside. ie Contact, Animations, Intro, etc.When doing this, the gallery is present on the page once the "images" tab is clicked on the navigation, but only the scrolling thumbnails are present on screen, and not the blown-up main image each of the thumbnails refers to, so when clicked on, no main image appears.But when placed on the "root" or outer-most layer of the site, the gallery works fine.I really need to know how to include this scrolling gallery feature WITHIN the navigation bar with the other pages, how can I do this? What actionscript could I use as a replacement to the "_root", to make the gallery function correctly?
For my college project I've created buttons were when you roll over images they are enlarged. The problem I have is when I roll over the images, the one next to the one I want shows in front of the image that I'm scrolling over with the mouse. I want it so that the image being rolled over is in front. For example when the magazine article on the far left is enlarged it goes behind the logos next to it instead of in front so you can see clearly what's being scrolled.

My image gallery scroller play back is jerky, it seems like a interlacing problem.This is a swf file with mouse interaction (mouse left scroll left, mouse right scroll right) 30fps, they are jpegs at 300x300 pixels.Mainly the upper part of the pictures are affected.I've looked everywhere in Flash CS4 and cant find the option setting for interlace or progressive, or does it even exist?I've tried setting the Jpeg setting as progressive in Publish setting but the problem still persist...
View 3 RepliesI've set my movie to 2fps so that I can play a note of a musical scale on each frame. Unfortunately, playback at this fps is not as uniform as I'd like and makes the full scale sound rather amateurish. I wonder if there is a way to make flash stick to a solid 2fps? Everytime I play back the slight timing errors are the same so there's a pattern to it's out-of-time-ness. I'd rather not increase the fps as that would require more frames and a larger movie to keep track of/publish but if it's the only solution I may have to. Has anyone else experienced this sort of behaviour?

I used media encoder to convert my 3 minute widescreen 856x480 video to a 428x240 flv. It plays OK on my computer but after I embed it in a webpage in Dreamweaver and upload it, it plays jittery on the internet. I have an interactive graph that works fine in Flash but jerks along when swf is online.

I've got a short animation at 720p - not much going on, just some symbols moving around the screen - but playback in flash player is jerky (more flashy, actually) - not smooth at all.
I've got the latest video drivers for my card, running a dual-core 2.4GHz with 6GB of RAM - my CPU meter says it's having no trouble playing the flash. The video card is an Nvidia quadro NVS 285 (pretty old & crap, but should have no problems).
I don't suppose anyone has got any ideas. I am using FlashEff2 for an effect but the entire animation is jerky, not just the bit with the FlashEff. View 2 RepliesI recently launched a Flash website that has video tutorials synchronized with Flash animations. Overall the site is functioning well, but I have an isolated instance of user having very jerky video with the audio occasionally cutting out.
His connection speed is fine (3572.7 Kbps). When I asked him for details he said the video was jerky from the start, and 'the video cycled from smooth to jerky once every half to a whole second.' He is using Flash player WIN 9.0.28.0, on win XP with all updates. When asked he did not provide the browser version.

The programming is done in AS 2. It's set up using net connection and net stream for flvs hosted on a media server. The flvs have cuepoints to trigger the animations. When a given flv is finished downloading the next flv in the list is then preloaded. The buffer time is set to 6 seconds.
I haven't been able to recreate the problem. The feedback that we've gotten suggests that the site runs fine. If anyone has trouble viewing this please let me know and please provide details.
This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?
how to allow the user to scroll a graphic either right or left. when the user moves the mouse to the left or right side I want the image to move the other way (if mouse is at the right the graphic moves left), but stop when when the user gets in the end of the image.

as you can see, some of it is hidden as I was afraid to delete things I might end up needing later. The position of the gallery is at an exact place, and the xml file is perfect. The only problem I'm having is with the scrolling part. I keep getting an error in the function scrolling code that says that a property of mask_mc is being called wrong. I also have learned that the createEmptyMovieClip is not as3 but as2, and that that is also wrong. I'm just trying to get the scroller to work.
I'm making a side scrolling platformer and I wonder why image movement is so choppy, especially if velocities arent whole numbers? Images I'm using are: one 320*350, one 500*500 and few of 50*50 all in PNG format with alpha support and cached as bitmap. Framerate is 30FPS.

Otherwise it is working all good, but I'd like it to stay put at the start. Right now it immidiately starts scrolling to right unless I move the mouse on top to stop it. So ye, i need to have it sitting still and only scroll when the mouse is at the edges of the document.

I'm trying to set up a gallery and have a grid of thumbs displayed, each of which open a full-sized copy of the image on the thumb.
The thumbnails go beyond the bottom of the screen and when I scroll down to see more thumbs, if a large image is displayed at the time, it scrolls off the top of the screen.
I have created an image thumbnails MovieClip, that has bunch of thumbnails in it.Problem is that there is no scrolling in it. I cant specify any width or height of the movie clip to limit it.I think I have to use Mask, but not sure how or even if it is the right approach.All I need to do is for the thumbnail_container to scroll if the number of images are more then stage can show.

View 1 RepliesI am putting together a site and need to input some text that I have styled in illustrator as a graphic element into my flash page. The text is much longer than my page length, so I would like to import the text into some sort of display object (which has the correct dimensions to fit to the page) and then attach a scroll bar so that users can drag up and down to read the text.
I unsure how to import the text (which is essentially an image) into a display object on the stage and make it work with my scroll bar.
It would be great if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'm sure it can't be too hard, but my brain doesn't want to engage properly.
