I have a problem with FMS 3.5 installed on Windows 7. The problem is that FMS works only on my local machine, I am not able to use it from computers in local network. I turned off all windows firewalls and my machine is visible for other computers - I am able to connect to FMS Welcome site on apache on default port 8134, but streaming fails, and I cannot do the same on port 80.
View 8 RepliesCurrently we are running a FMS 3.5 server and to 99.9% of our clients they can see our streams with no issues. This all started after we moved server from influxes to in house. Everything was back to working ok but one client. They must be behind a very secure network becasue they see the player we have but no video, only gray boxes. My first guess is that they are blocking RTMP. I tried to get into her machine via remote but it required domain authentication. This was working with our old system but not the new one. Nothing much has changed execpt hosting companies. Normally we could use port 80 to stream out of but we currently have a different web server fordwaring traffic through 80 and our firewall will not route host headers. What could be the best way to make this work?

View 1 RepliesBy default, the server runs as System Account with no access to network drives. You can change the service user to a user with network access privileges with a UNC path. In Windows 2008, when I change FMS service to log on as user and start the service I get
"Windows Could not start the Flash Media Server (FMS) service on Local Computer.
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly".
When I change it back to Local System Account, it works fine. Tested in Windows 7 x64 and I was able to start the service as a user log on. I checked the local policy group and the user have rights to log on as a service. I compared Windows 7 setting to Windows 2008 and they match.
Many times, each day, a notice this error in the event log :

each time after this error, the netconnection between the publisher and the server close. I have some log in my app who check the connectivity between the publisher and the server:

I just want to confirm if it's the real issue of this problem or if other thing can provide this result and how can I prevent the deconnection of the publisher if this append again?
I work for a carrier, and am looking at implementing IP Multicast on an MPLS network to support enterprise executive webcasts. As your probably aware, there are multiple multicast methods available.
Anyways its down to two multicast methods. PIM-SM ( which our engineering group will probably reject to complexity)
PIM-SSM ( Which not every application supports Can anyone advise on whether Adobe flash media server ( and player ) support PIM-SSM multicast?

We've gotten it to serve up video to the public and ourselves (inside our own network), but the problem is our client cannot view the videos. They keep getting a "can't connect to the network" message.Does anyone know of how we should troubleshoot this? The videos are each about 90 minutes long, and for right now, there are six of them, which is why we wanted to stream instead of embedding them.

A client connected to the FMS for playing live video.The problem has been found that when FMS shutdown the network, the client's NetConnection didn't dispatch any event.But when the client shutdown the network the client's NetConnection will dispatch NetConnection. Connect.Closed event.How could flash client know the FMS' server side networking problem? Does it necessary to use heartbeat mechanism between FMS and client?

For a client, I am working on a project where a live RTMP stream is published to an Adobe FMS 3.5.6 server from a java application, using Red5 0.9.1 RTMPClient code. This works fine, until the timestamp becomes higher than 0xFFFFFF after 4.6 hours, and the RTMP extended timestamp field starts being used. I have already found: when the extended timestamp was written after the header, the last 4 bytes of the data were being cut off. I have fixed this locally, and now the data being sent seems to me to be conformant to the spec. However, FMS still throws an error message in the core log and then kills the connection from the Red5 client. Here is the error message:

I've added the network path where SWF an XML file resides to "trusted locations" via Flash Player Global Settings.
The added network path is successfully displayed at the list of "trusted locations" within Global Settings Manager, but it does not look like Flash Player is able to really parse the local network path as a "trusted location"

I have tested other embedded videos and they will play remotely so I know the hosting site is working.Currently,the live video will play locally and remotely from this computer where all the files are stored but only the skin is visible on any other remote computer's web browser.
View 2 RepliesI followed Tom Green's tutorials and at this point I can publish a live stream which I can view and interact with just fine on my local LAN.The FMS is NAT'ed to the outside world and I have ports 80 & 1935 open to the server.When I use a browser from the outside world and put in the servers public address I can see & interact with the FMS start page just fine. I can use the "interactive" tab and supply my live stream name and view the stream just fineHowever when I try to launch the Flashplayer that I built all I see is the controls with moving stipes, No video feed above. I can browse to the flashplayer HTML file on my local LAN and it works fine. Interestingly enough I cannot open the flashplayer HTML file directly on the server either (but I can open the start page application and interact with it).

View 6 RepliesI'm currently working on a webcam recorder to record high quality video. I had the recorder working before, but the video quality was quite poor. Instead I'm trying to use a client side buffer and then upload the buffer after recording has stopped. I thought after I unattached the video and audio from the NetStream that either a NetStream.Buffer.Empty or NetStream.Record.Stop event would be sent when the buffer was finished uploading.
What is actually happening after I start recording is two NetStream.Record.Stop events are being sent in a row, so recording never really happens. Also, on the server side I'm trying to save a user name and password into a variable, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that since the application script is just a bunch of callback functions.
I'm FMS beginner (server side newbie in general)... I installed FMS 3.5 (Development) on my computer which is inside of local network. Now I try to connect to rtmp service from another machine in same network using my computer's IP as I used to while connecting to my apache, but it is worthless. Everything works fine on my computer.

The reason Ordinarily I would just host everything on the server, the swf file and images and serve them out using something like apache. However, we're working with an embedded device with hardware limitations. So we thought we could avoid this by hosting the images locally on a cd.But Flash player moans about the security settings. I know a way to overcome this would be to give the user instructions to change the global security settings- hence allowing both network and local access. But we feel that this would be too much to expect the end user to do.We want our model to work out of the box so to speak. Or as best as possible.

Here is the situation:
I have an SWF which runs locally on the client's machine.
It communicates, via XML socket, to a C++ server.
It also needs to read some configuration files from the local file system...
c:config.xml <---> test.swf <---> C++ server
So I need the SWF to be fully trusted, as if it was ran from the Flash IDE.But I can't tell my clients to set it to be fully trusted using Adobe's Global Security Settings Panel
What I can do is alter my C++ server code, somehow granting permissions to the SWF.
I am having a strange issue in my flex app. I have a Video element that loads an FLV file from the same directory as the SWF app. If I move my SWF and FLV to a local directory on my computer and load the SWF in my browser, the video plays without any issues. However, if I move the same collection of files (SWF, FLV, HTML) to a network share, the video no longer loads.

View 1 RepliesI try to load a file over the local network with Loader Class but I get the error "URL Not Found". I use a path like this "file://///myPCnetID/pubilcFolder/pictures/mypic.jpg" which refers to a folder on the same PC I compile and run the Air flash file.
When I copy the adress into the browser the jpg-file ist displayed corretly.
I am creating a web page that allows users to upload their own swf files to my web page, which are then used by the main web page as components. This creates a security issue though because I don't want the uploaded swf files to access other files on the server.
when the main webpage starts, it loads whatever third party swf files the user specifies. Is there a way for my main web page to change the security settings of the loaded swf so that the loaded swf is treated like it was loaded from another domain? Or is there another way I can provent these uploaded swfs from accessing local files on the server.
