What is the trick to develop an SWF that reads user input text and then displays it after submissions? Should I have the SWF read the text from an XML that receives the data? Basically, it is a greeting card and people can send a personalized message to a recipient.

For Example:Name:_____Age:_____BOY/GIRL:____and then for example if the user decided to Enter: (Cooper, 7, Boy) the story would add those variables, so it might say:"Once upon a time, there as a 7 year old boy named Cooper, who lived in flying shoe."Ideally, I would want to be able to have the text auto format so that it looks like a seamless paragraph, no odd line breaks or spacing issues no matter how long the name they entered was, so for example if they entered "Cooper" or "Cooper William Johnson III", either way the text would still flow correctly

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a personalized gallery, so far it's going ok. What I have is 9 thumbnails, which load an image with an invisible button linked to the button which loads a larger version of the image to the side.
What I would like to do is then click on the larger image and have this pop up in a new window so that the image is loaded on it's own and can be downloaded etc; My thumbnails are loading as follows...

Then when I click on them , I get it to load the medium sized image into the larger image holder.

Now, the site works great, but I want to edit it and can't get to any of the layers, because I'm sure I've fumbled the organization. Tried onion skinning, and timeline/tween clicking - no go. I'm sure it's the simplest thing in the world, but sometimes the obvious is the hardest thing to see.

Can I Use data from external Text file for JavaScript alert message in flash? I wanted to change the alert message dynamically using the external text file.
1. I created the text file with data as: &Enter=Please Enter
2. And the flash action script i used is as below..

But this is not working properly. It showing me the alert window but the message it showing as 'undefined'

Is there any way to change a context menu that already has been personalized. I have an small application that I purchased to learn with and also to save some time. When I right click the context menu appears with the other person's information in it. I want to change that information if it is possible to do so. I tried

I made a number of Flash Movies during the week on my MACbook using CS4. Today when I open the files to continue building, I do a control movie and/or export movie and all my images display and move as designed but ALL TEXT is invisible. these same files worked fine yesterday. Aside from a shut down, with no issues, at the end of the workday nothing has changed that I can forsee.
When I publish an FLA, I get this message prompt:"Some characters could not be converted to outlines because an appropriate outline font is not available. These characters will disappear in the swf movie file. The characters that failed will look jagged if you choose Anti-Alias Text in the view menu."obviously I tried resetting the preferences and editting the anti alias preferences.. it is happening to all FLA files going back years and versions.
