I know how to use Instance_name_here but what I can't work out is that in the example code snippets sometimes you can click on a link or image location that's in blue text and change it to what you want. How do I set this up myself when Creating a code snippet? Currently all my links and image locations appear in unclickable grey text instead of blue
Code Snippets won't workEvery time I try to attach a Code Snippet I keep getting this error:***Notes from Customer***10/13/201020:55:30When I have a object on stage, and I try to add code snippet, I keep gettingerror message: The following JavaScript error(s) occurred: SyntaxError: missing ) after argument listI've watched video(s) on adding snippets, but it won't work for me like it
According to all of the documentation I can find, the code snippets window in Flash Pro CS5 should be prepopulated with common AS3 commands but for some reason it is completely blank.I have looked through my folders and on the adobe website but haven't found any xml files that appear to be what I need. If I were a more advanced user, this probably wouldn't be a problem, but all of the documentation and tutorials I've found start by using the code snippets window with all of the codes already there. Does anyone know if there is somewhere I can retrieve the correct codes or do I have to uninstall/reinstall my Flash Software
onClipEvent(load){this._alpha = 0;}A lot.And I always find myself writing it out...and it's a pain in the ***. I wish there was a way you could save commonly used snippets of code and just easily access them whenever.

Hi, whenever I click on my code snippets button in Flash Pro, the output panel gives me a message about a missing bracket at the end of an argument list. In addition, none of the code snippets work. How might I correct it?
bring object to the front flash (code snippets)-- How can I make this a rollover rather than requiring the user click on the object i.e. they just need to move cursor on top of the object and it will be brought forward.
I'm actually relatively new to flash and actionscript but I could say I have fair knowledge about them. So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.
Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?
When I click on a field to edit, the | symbol that allows you to type new text (for example, a timeline folder's name) disappears as quickly as it appears, therefore no way to edit anything.
I want to add text field in a movieclip and when i double click on text field at that time only it should allow to edit. Again when i click for example an image then the textfield shouldn't be edited.
I need it so the music plays at start and then the button will pause/stop it, and then turn into a play graphic which, when pressed, will play it again. I tried editing the code, but I am horrible at programming and of course nothing I tried worked. Please let me know what I have to change to start with music playing, and then have it stop/pause on first press, and alternate "play" and "stop" on subsequent presses.
How to edit the .fla file code and save it in the .swf format? I downloaded the trial version of adobe flash.I am able to see the output frame but not source code.
this is the one code that I could make work, but I need it so the music plays at start and then the button will pause/stop it, and then turn into a play graphic which, when pressed, will play it again. [My fla has 2 layers, one for this AS, and one for the buttons... within the symbol section, I have two layers, one for the button common BG, and two frames in the button layer, one for play (triangle) and one for stop (square). They are saved as a movie clip.]
I have a scrollplane instance onstage that I need to skin, but flash is not allowing me to double click the instance to edit its timeline. Does anyone know why this may be?
I'm a total computer newbie and kinda slow with these sort of things, but here goes.I made a website in flash and published it but haven't uploaded it to my website yet. If i do upload it, how do i edit it again, in Flash?I do have a webhost, but I can't edit it there because I made the website myself therefore I have to edit it from my programs and then publish it again, correct?
For the longest time, I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why my CS4 FLAs were getting larger every time I did a Save and Compact. I finally tracked it down to the @#$% metadata. Every time you save an FLA, it appends a useles chunk of metadata to it, that looks something like this:
This can be viewed in Flash by going to File -> File Info... -> Raw Data.
On frequently-updated files, this junk can easily add dozens or hundreds of K to the size of an FLA. So my question is this: Is it possible to edit an FLA's metadata?
There are were several developers on the forums who asked various questions about keyboard simulation in Flash. While waiting for Godot I have posted a quick tutorial with a working example and code for both timeline and class-based app. Just pasted the code on timeline or make class a document class.URL...
One day after I wrote a paragraph of text and saved itI am unable to edit it.a misalignment and consequently the left and right arrows are unreponsive. Also when I highlight the line of text I want to work with as soon as I place the text iconover that line and click the software creates another layer instead of remaining in the layerI've specified
i am new to Flash and am currently working with an XML based flash template. When i open the .fla file, none of the text or images show up. I understand this is b/c i have to edit the xml file in dreamweaver. However that is a very complicated way of doing it b/c then i have to keep going back and forth between several programs and saving, and updating, and never getting of "live view" of the chages i am making. My question is: Is there really no way for me to edit the whole xml flash template in Flash CS5? Meaning is there some sort of way to import or manipulate the files so that i can edit the text and images directly in flash pro cs5 and not having to keep going into dreamweaver?
I am a Java programmer and I can read and edit most anything I get my hands on. I don't work much with flash and when I do there is no reason to look at any sort of source.I received a file from someone to add to a project and the instructions were to open the .fla in CS5 and edit certain lines to pioint to directories . The file is and interactive app type.I have tried doing this but I am at a loss. I had thought that I would just be able to view some source in the file and edit those lines and export the ,swf, but I can see nothing like that.
how to trim /fade my sounds in Flash CS5 but it is a nightmare. So at frame 800 I want to start to fade the sound from 100% to 0% on frame 850, but whatever I try it just get's mucked up. Those little handles just keep duplicating when I try and drag them. Is there any way to delete the points and how do I get the left and right to be identical. Also, how do I fade the sound? I mean what is the best way to fade the sound so at frame 800 the sound starts to fade from 100% to 0% on frame 850?
I'm trying to edit a .fla file. It's actually a flash game, a dating sim game to be specific. Now, the game has dialogues where you have to press a "next button" so that the next dialogue will appear, but I've noticed that all the dialogues are gone, they're not appearing at all. It's just a blank space. At the same time, the game has dynamic texts like money, energy and name of the player but likewise it's just an empty space. I've noticed that when I exported the game as swf. The text appears but it's distorted. For example the dialogue "Where am I" would appear as "a aa ii". I've also noticed that when I opened the .fla, it says that there are fonts missing.. I dont know if that has something to do with this..
Sorry for lack of terminology but I want to create movie clips with moving graphics or objects and so want to see the boundaries of the stage. At present the whole area is filled with my stage colour. A setting somehwere?
I have a flash header on a client's site that was done and I'm trying to edit the links on the submenu for camps can't seem to find the code to edit the links and take away a link.
I created a short animation for the first time yesterday, and I ended up drawing a few frames ouside the parameters of the stage. Now I want to adjust the position of the whole composition so that it all fits on the stage. Is there a way, like in photoshop with seperate layers, to select every frame and move them all simultaneously?
