I am trying to embed a flash gallery on my website like the gallery found on the follwing page URL... what do I need to do to achieve this, do you have any recommended documents I could follow?

The gallery I need is really simple: an horizontal bar placed on the bottom containing the thumbnails which scrolls left and right according to the mouse pointer clicking on a thumbnail the full image must be shown above the thumbnails' bar buttons for prev and next image clicking on the button which opens the gallery I must be able to pass a variable to make the gallery load the proper xml file (I've got 6 different categories to show)

View 1 RepliesI've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
I want to create a picture gallery in Flash. I want small thumbnail images all around the edges of the canvass (canvass will be a rectangle). When the user clicks on the thumbnail I want the image to be displayed in the centre of the rectangle in its full size. How do I create such a picture gallery? Is there a simple tutorial? View 1 RepliesI'm starting to create a flash gallery that uses xml.I want to make it as object oriented as possible, but i'm having a hard time determining what feature should be it's own class and what feature should be a method within the class.
The gallery is going to be a lot like the flickr gallery. I know that i can make a separate xml class that takes care of all the xml related functions.However, will I just have one other class, Gallery.as or should my gallery be composed of different classes.
For example, should the part that handles the thumbnails be a separate Thumbnails.as class or should it simply be a method within the Gallery.as class?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
I am looking to create a flash gallery which imports images from a mysql datbase and links associated to the image which will also be in the databae . The idea is to show the user in a carousel style the last picture added to the database at the front and if that or any other picture within the carousel is clicked another swf will load.Using php will do I just don't know where to start.

I am trying to include a flash banner template i have downloaded into my webpage using dreamweaver CS5.the template comes with an XML file with it in which you can reference your own images etc..I understand how to inclued the Flash object into my webpage by insert-swf- and then navigating to the .swf file...what i am having trouble with is understanding how this refereces the XML file in the download pack as i cant find any references to it in the code?I am just getting the grey flash box with no images appearing when i hit play etc.

View 7 RepliesI started building a gallery in flash before i realised that it was a bit out of my reach at the moment so I downloaded one and set to work altering it for my purposes ( and learning some action script at the same time ) but I've hit a problem. The title in the .fla file can be changed font size etc however after the first frame it's then replaced by another which i can edit but only by editing the .xml file does anyone know where / What I need to look for to alter the size positioning etc.

View 6 Repliesi downloaded a free of use gallery from (this gallery) and i'm trying to load it in my flash site .. now, the gallery works if i open it directly (i open the swf file)when i try to load the external swf file into my siteloadMovie("image_gallery.swf", box);then the movie loads .. the gallery is displayed the message "loading xml file" displays and then when the xml is loaded the message "loading image 1/7" displays and only the first image loads.
once the first image is loaded it will not be displayed (it remains outside of my swf file .. i can see it when i resize the window) and no other images will be loaded.if i open the gallery.sfw file again everything works fine .. the problem is only if i try to load the gallery.swf in another swf ..something must be wrong ..i tryed to opern the gallery.fla file and copt everything directly in my site and the problem remains the same .. only 1 image loaded and not displayed in the gallery
I'm new to flex/flash cs5, but am an experienced coder, and am trying to help a friend get a site built quickly so they can graduate. They would like their image gallery that displays their portfolio to have:thumbnails floating around slowly and bouncing off of one another - mouse hover would freeze and then resume animation after the mouse leaves - when clicked the thumbnail would grow to the full size image and be displayed in the same window as the floating objects Something similar to whats found at: Flash and Picasa gallery with those other features would be perfect, but without the Google RSS aspect of it. Might anyone know where I could be pointed in the right direction for accomplishing this? Or possibly could be given technical names for the effects I'm trying to implement so I can look them up easier? Perhaps even a link to download something with the floating/bouncing element for the thumbnails, then I could figure out the code for the other effects needed.
View 1 RepliesI need to make a XML Driven Photo slide in Flash CS5.It needs to have a Box that contains 5 Thumbnails(by XML) act as buttons.The Box sits on top of the Main photo area and shrinks (or close out) when user click its close button. And it opens out by clicking on a open button.I'm sure it can be done by using timeline, Tweening or you name it..But what about the Thumbnails that run from the XML file?Can they disappear with the Box and retrieve when it opens?[code]

View 6 RepliesI am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked? Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.
