View 2 RepliesI'm attempting to create a thing where my thumbnails will scroll across the bottom of the page, like when you put the mouse on the right it scrolls right and visa versa. I found a great tuturial only to realize halfway in that it was done with Flash 8, therefore apparently quite a few things have changed. And this is my first stab at FlashThe first place i noticed is when my motion tween didn't work, so I instead created a 'Classic Tween' finding it had the same affect as 'Motion Tween' in Flash 8, however as I progressed in the tut, I don't think the results were the same.
My images scroll but after creating a _xmouse<40){........prevFrame, there only continue to scroll, the prevFrame command doesn't work!So to my question...does anyone know of a good tut for this type of thing for CS5? OR, is anyone really familiar with both Flash 8 and CS5 and e differences for what I'm attempting to create?

I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
I've been creating an XML photo gallery with Flash CS4 and AS 3.0 following a tutorial. I followed the instructions step-by-step but at the end I got the following error message instead:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found. Could anyone in the community assist me as to how to solve the problem? The script has no errors and last time I checked all the applicable files (the .xml file, the .jpg files, the .swf and the .fla file) are in my Documents folder on the Mac.

I want to create a simple gallery which is loaded with locally stored FLV short clips. I know how to create a text/image gallery, but I wasn't able to put the VideoDisplay component in the List control.
The final result should be a gallery with videos playing while the cursor is on top of them.
I have created a flash file that allows you to click on a thumbnail image and larger image appears ontop of a tshirt. The same way as a gallery would work. The images and thumbnails are pulled in through xml. However I have a problem, I need the images that appear on the tshirts to be .png files or gif files as the tshirt colour can be changed. At the moment my flash file will only display jpegs! I dont knwo why. The jpegs leave me with a white background, so I need the transparency of a png/gif. My actionscript is:

I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

I have a flash component that is an image gallery. I want to have multiple image galleries on my site, but instead of multiple instances of the component, I want to have multiple buttons that can be clicked that will load in different xml files to populate the component.
Would code like this do something like that:

I am using a local computer and will only be running the flash app on locals. I want users to have access to a gallery which I built with xml and to be able to add to the gallery. I thought I could do it with an append child to the xml but flash cant write to file. I was going to use filereference and then save the file in the flash folder and add the new object to the xml file, but this is the wrong route.

These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?

Good day to everyone. I'm here today to seek help about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. The story starts when one day, my boss asked me to make a flash presentation about their upcoming user training for a newly developed software. I was enthusiastic and excited about it because it's been a long time that I did not use Flash (note that I don't have any experience in ActionScript 3.0). At first, everything was a bit rough as I need to recall how to properly use the frames to create a successful animation. As I was about to finish the project, my boss approached me again and asked if I could insert a menu page in front so that the users won't have to replay the whole thing again just to look for a little something on that part of the movie. So yea, at first I was abit hesitant to accept. I said that it will work with Powerpoint. But she's a total pusher and I was forced to say yes. I did this tutorial just fine in as3 and worked out well. But recently I had to switch my project from as3 to as2 to link buttons to scenes. Now I have a ton of compiler errors from the switch. I'm creating a video gallery and i have some issues because i'm new ot action script.I have a gallery.swf which loads into main swf. this gallery has thumbnails that link to the video.So the issu is the following:When i roll over the thumbnails, I would like to show the name and the description of the video and if i click on it, it should load the video.I was wondering if there is a way to do this dynamically with xml instead of working on every thumbnail button ans linking it to its video.
