View 3 Replieswhen I do linkage on a symbol and export it for AS3. Then I edit the symbol, for instance go in and modify anything inside, a shape, etc... the next time I try to publish flash, i get an error multiple constructor definitions found. constructor may not be defined in <Script/> code.I think may be it's because flash does not remember to delete the previous export and creates another one. The only way to resolve this, is to delete the entire symbol and re-create it.

View 1 RepliesDoes creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?

View 1 RepliesI am making a simple project ,a so called "quizz" .SO as every questions has wrong and true answers buttons I am wondering how do I go to the previous keyframe.Let me be more clear. I have this "screen" with a button that appears only when you click the "wrong answer" on a question,the screen has a button that will lead you to the menu to start a new game,but I realized that would be very ANNOYING ,because if we are at question 30 [we pretend] it would be very frustrating to start all over again.So I am wondering what code do I need to write to the Screen with the "start over" button that leads to menu to make it lead me to the question I Answered wrong. I want to say that I tried something like "on (release) { gotoAndPlay ("previous") ;} but didn`t work To be even more clear I will show you on this picture.

Is there anyway to "read" HTTP POST responses with actionscript?

my program is i can choose several movie to load and the movies are save in an array... For example: i choose movie 1 , 2 and 3. Movie 1 was loaded. After i lick 'next 'button, movie 2 will be show .Beside that,if i click 'previous' button, movie 1 will be show. i facing a problem that my previous button is not back to my previous loaded movie but is trace my choices in arrays backward. The next problem is, my first movie load to the second movie load will be a bit lagging. but the rest 1 is ok.

View 8 RepliesThis is probably a simple thing, that I just cannot find the answer to.Basically I have designed an HTML based website.I want to incorporate a SWF element on the homepage, and am having problems doing so.In order to keep the file size of the swf I will be placing on my homepage to a minimum, I broke it down into a series of shorter scenes, that I plan on dynamically loading into my main file (which will hold all the AS) that will be placed on my site.
This is where I run into the problem.I have no trouble getting the first swf to load into my main file, but what I need to do is get the next swf to load and play after the first is done playing. So I am assuming I will need to find a script to unload the first movie, then load the second, and so on.Im actually not even sure if this is the right way to go about doing this.
I am creating next & previous buttons on my main scene. I have created a scrolling photo gallery as well as a random button to randomly select images. I have a photos layer that has 15 images tagged in the AS "img1" "img2".

i've deleted an audio file from my flash file and imported a better converted version of the same song to it, but now when i compile a swf of the file i get a msg in the output window saying "multiple copies of sound item in swf". i deleted the original file b4 importing the other 1, but it looks like that doesnt matter. what do i do short of starting COMPLETELY over?

View 1 RepliesI am very new to flash. I have a marketing video with audio that is very long, I need to delete frames 20 - 1430 from the .fla to make it shorter. I hope I'm using the terminology correctly, I essentially want to cut out frames 21 - 1429; all the images, the audio and the frames themselves, essentially make it be like they were never there. I can't even seem to select the frames properly. I followed these instruction: [URL]. Then edit/timeline/remove frames and nothing happened. The frames are still there. I have the full Creative Suite Master collection 5.5, so it doesn't have to be in flash.

when it goes back, it goes back frame by frame without stopping but I want it to go only to previous Scene. instead of going to previous frame.Do i have to create a unique button? which i did but i didn't work?
I am just learning AS3 and am reading up on instantiating and object.The code from the Quickstart book makes about 75% sense to me, as it covers syntax in the previous section. However, like every damn intro to code on the planet, it throws in new, unexplained syntax:

Line 1: I get var=myMC is defining a variable.. I don't however understand the colon. What does the colon do and what does MovieClip mean? I'd assume that new MovieClip() is a method.

I'm trying to create a "back" button, but when the user clicks on this button I want the animations to go in reverse and then go to the frame that it is calling. so for example i have 5 notes, what happens first is that "note 1" is on the stage then you click on 'next' and then "note 2" slides in from the bottom and pushes "note 1" up and out of the frame and stops and shows 'back' and 'next' buttons. what i am trying to do is, if the user clicks on 'back' , I want the movie to rewind and have "note 1" slide back down. Or if they click on 'next' 2 will be pushed up and 3 is revealed the same way 2 came in.
View 5 RepliesI have an image sequence on my timeline in Flash.I also have two buttons: forwards-button and backwards-button.I would like the timeline to play constantly forward, when the mouse is held over the forwards button.And I would like the timeline to play constantly backwards when the mouse is held over the backwards button.My attempts so far have failed: I can get the button to work only for one step at a time (and then I need to bring the mouse on and off the button again for it to move to the next frame).I need to have the sequence play forwards/ backwards the whole time that the mouse is over the button.

-I can go from frame 2 --> frame 3
If i try to go from, let's say frame 3 --> 2, I get this message:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.Why cant I go to a previous frame on my timeline?
have a movie clip that I am moving with tweens. When the user clicks a button it creates a new tween and the movie clip moves. However, I have another button that sets the position of the same movie clip. The problem comes when this button is clicked if the tween is in progress. The tween continues and my content moves out of view. Is there a way to stop or delete the tween when the second button is clicked?Here is a simplified example of the relevant AS:

Trying to see if someone can guide me to a way I could stop my earlier tweens and onRollOver function when my onPress function is launched. What I worked out here with that McX/YScale.stop(); and that target9_mc.onRollOver = null; is kind of working but I don't want the onRollOver function to stop until the onPress function begins.

I Have about 10 images that will be loading into my home page using the code below. the problem that I am getting is that occasionaly the same image will load twice in a row. is these some code I can insert into my existing code so that the images will not load twice in a row?

I am working on a flash file which i am hopeing to use for a project. I seem to be having a problem with the software. Everytime i make changes to the file and press CTRL + Return to test the moive, it comes up with errors. When i click on the errors to take me to the line of code with the error, it seems to be displaying code from a previous version of the same file which i deleted. When i delete the code and layers agin and then rewrtie the new code and add the new layers again Flash seems to stop responding for like 15 minutes. Once it does respond, i save the file and reopen it everthing seems fine but as soon as i press CTRL + Return the exact same thing happens.

It's not perfect circle because of Flash.On this circle I have some mc's (small circles - bitmaps) --> I'm using attachMovie on Big circle. I'm rotating with big circle by 45 degrees.Sometimes I have to delete small circle and create another one at the same location. But after rebuild the position of new small circle is a little bit changed[mm].It's visible and I'm very disappointed. It happens even the rotation is 0.
