Is there a major issue with rendering Flash in Safari?
I have search for a way to display, for example, Adobe Home Page in Safari and be able to see all the menus "on top" and have not found a solution.
I have tried setting wmode to either opaque or transparent but no change.
I am using the latest download of Safari (vs 4.0.4[531.21.10]) on Windows 7.
Is there a way to set up a background image (repeating or non-repeating) that the stage area floats over. When I use file > publish settings > HTML > publish - It creates the HTML document but any area outside the stage is colored with the default stage color- Can this be set up in Flash or changed in HTML?

View 6 RepliesI am trying to render an image with text and images that are on a .swf file. What i am doing is saving all the objects and their properties in an XML and then using imagemagick to render all that. the problem i am facing is that imagemagick treats fonts very different than Flash, so i don't get a perfect copy of what i see in the flash to what i see on the rendered image.
how to match font sizes between flash an imagemagick?
We are building a flash based product where we need to create icons for various modules. we are having challenges in look and feel of the icons- what looks really good on Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop looks jagged on flashPlayer. A challenge we have is that the overall screen aspect ratio and hence aspect for the icons which are relatively sized can change
we were told in discussions with some adobe folks that
a) we need to build icons which are square, and in multiples of 32 pixels.
b) use a png format
As per them, this way the pixelation is reduced and diagonal lines won't appear jagged- we still have an issue on rendering in flash player
I have set wmode to transparent and it works fine in IE and FF but not in safari. Safari just gives me a white background.
View 3 RepliesUsers of my Flex application report that sometimes the application is freezed when the browser window is minimized or they select another active tab over it. In this suspended state, the application receives no CPU share and all network connections it uses are closed. When the browser window is restored, the application is resumed. This happened with Safari 5 on Mac OS Leopard, with both Flash player 10.0 and 10.1. I searched a lot but I could not find any information about such behavior.Is it possible entering in suspended state to be prevented and how? Is it possible for the Flex application to be notified about going into sleep mode and wake up back?

Otherwise it is working all good, but I'd like it to stay put at the start. Right now it immidiately starts scrolling to right unless I move the mouse on top to stop it. So ye, i need to have it sitting still and only scroll when the mouse is at the edges of the document.
After several months of use, the sf's preloader in my site has an issue. I am having trouble recreating the issue.There are 2 files, loader.swf, and external.swf.The first, gets the bytes of the second, displays a progress percentage, and loads the external upon completion.I used the Adobe Flash CS5 sample files to create the loader.Issue:On a Mac, running Safari 4.1.3 (this is all that I know), the progress bar would go all the way to 100%, but then freeze and not load the second swf.I have no issues in any of IE, Firefox, Chrome, or even Safari on any of my PC's/Macs/Adobe BrowserLab.The HTML page uses a combination of swfFit and swfobject to display the loader.
Has anyone ever heard of this issue?Could the swfObject/swfFit correctly load the first swf, but then fail with the Loader class within the loader.swf?Could the the fact that the swfObject minimum flash version check was version 8.0.0? Would a flash player 8.0.0 load an AS3 Flash 10.0 loader.swf, but fail on a more complex AS3 Flash 10.0 external.swf?Here is the loader's code:

I added an image background 1900 x 1200 in dreamweaver, which will serve as my background image for my web site. I would like to incorporate my .flv or .swf on top of my background image. Although, when doing so, the .flv or .swf gets placed under the background image and not on top. How do I place the .flv or .swf file on top of my background image in Dreamweaver CS5.

I have a white stage and my background is non-solid/non-uniform. My flash project will be my whole website, therefore when a browser window is larger than my stage, the stage color (white) shows in the background. Its basically a white border on the left and right. I wish I could continue my background image to cover the whole browser window. What I want to do is: if needed (if the browser window is larger than my stage) continue my background on both sides by taking a copy of my background image, flipping it horizontally, and placing it on both sides of my background. If you can imagine it, this will give a more uniform continuation of the background. I'm guessing actionscript would be the best bet?

I have several transparent product images (.png or .gif) and a patterend background. I import my .png or .gif image and convert it to a symbol. I drag the symbol on my layer but as soon as i add a keyframe, the product image background turns white and loses it's transparency!

When creating a project in Flash CS5 and then trying to view it in Safari & Firefox the plug-in crashes which then brings down the browser with it.I went and installed Flash CS3 (as this is what he is used to using) and the problem still persists.

1. There has a subtle difference between a static text field in flash authoring tool which has been set to use the device font when it's got focus(state that user can type character in) and lose focus;
2. There also has a subtle difference between when it is being rendered in flash player and in flash authoring tool.(Note that the key factor here is setting the text field to use device font.)
The latest versions of firefox and Safari both cannot display email links. For some reason they don't parse ou the "mailto:".
View 5 RepliesI have been struggling with this with CS4 and CS5. I am working on an animation with a couple of characters comprised of several pngs I converted to symbols. When one characters symbols overlap another characters the swf file shows the stage color rather than the background image I have placed in the file. I can publish it as an html with the option of playing it windowless transparent and it will remove this problem. But I would like to just be able to play the swf file without this issue.
View 2 RepliesI made a simple slideshow type viewer for a client. It works wonderfully for me in OS X using Safari and Firefox, and it works in Firefox under windows as well. Linky Now, the guy writing the backend stuff for the site uses windows, and noticed that when you navigate *away* from the page, and then go back, the images don't load. In IE 7. He sent me a screenshot using some http debugger.
Screenshot So, we figured we'd use a "cache buster" in IE. I made the flash append "?<RANDOM_STRING>" when requesting the images, but it doesn't seem to do the job. The HTTP debugger shows the request occurs, but Flash never actually receives the image. Here's the entirety of the class "SlideshowImage" which is responsible for loading the images ( and other junk, like photo credits, etc ). Hopefully somebody with more AS3 experience can hit me with the proverbial clue stick. I've been writing AS2 for a long time, but AS3 for only the last 6 months or so. I've never seen these problems in AS2, so I assume I'm doing something wrong in AS3.
A final note. I know that the XML file which describes the slideshow is being correctly loaded, since I can see the correct copy overlay and other factors. It just appears that the images never come down the pipe.
Is there a way to create a BarChart (in the background) without adding it to the current view? I basically have a chart that I need to convert to an image and add it to a PDF report (using AlivePDF).

I have a few DIVs, some overlapping others. One of these DIV is in the background (lowest Z-index) and contains an SWF. (a kind of liquid picture/video in Flash)
My problem is : In all common browsers it's fine, the website is displayed correctly, with DIVs overlapping or being overlapped according to their Z-Index. Though, in Safari, the DIV containing the SWF always show on the foreground and hide all other DIVs, whatever the Z-index attributed to all the DIVs.
I used FalshDevelop to compile PanoSalado opensource ".as" files to produce corresponding ".swf" files.it works great and my movie shows.However, when I run it via a webapp under Tomcat, it just sits there. The url is:Note that I'm running the same file (.swf) from the same place in the filesystem.And I even tried to embed the swf in an html page (actually a jsp page) to see if it would work.. but no dice... same issue.FWIW the html that is used to invoke the swf is :

I'm trying to create a video background for a game using the FLVPlayback component. I need to smoothly trasisition between multiple videos so I make a FLVPlayer for each one so that I can just tween the alpha when I need to show it. When I start the game I load everything and store the Playback components in a Vector, I think add them to the stage like this

Once the game is loaded though the first video dosnt render at all, so I have a see thoough background. But once I transition to a video that is on top of it, the top video renders.
I am trying to add a video to this site: http:[url]....The video plays in Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome.It does not play for me in Safari of Opera. When I preview the page from Dreamweaver in Safari or Opera, it works. When I load it up on the server, and check it on the web in those browsers, it doesn't.
View 5 RepliesI've made an application and placed it on a server. In testing it works fine in both chrome and firefox but I get an error in safari. The error is #1010 a term is undefined and has no property. It points to a place in the code that is reading some data recieved from an external json data. I've used some trace statments and the data is not undefined but back in safari it fails.

I am publishing the movie from Flash CS4 and using all the code it spits out in the html page. It works fine in IE and FF but not Safari.

I am relatively new to Flash CS3 and i have been learning Action-script 3 over the past week. I have come quite a long way and i have made a site in flash but i just have a question.I have been using an image as my background and i am happy with the way flash automatically scales all the objects in my file but the background image does not scale. Is there a way to do this? I have found out things online which show me how to add auto-resizing to the background but this knocks off the flash auto scaling/resizing for everything else.
