Professional :: Text Expanding And Information Gallery?

I have a question and would like some help with creating a flash gallery but for showing information rather than pictures. I will try to make this as clear as possible but if its confusing please let me know and I will give more details.
Basically I trying to make a vertical timeline on the lefthand side with years (in text) which expand slightly on mousover and when clicked show the relavent information on the righthand side for that year.I can't seem to get the text to expand on mouseover?

I'm using one of the resizeable image gallery's found on this site.It works great for me, but i have one problem.. I can't really expand it now.I use a frame where i load all the thumbnails for the images. 12 thumbnails will fit in that frame, not more. I want to create it like this: if i load more then 12 thumbnails, a link(a nr) will come automatically at the bottom of that frame. If i will click that link i will see the other thumbnails... In case there are more then 24 thumbnails a third link (nr 3) will come... and so on.the problem is that i havent got the slightest idea how to achieve this

I've been attempting (unsucessfully) to expand on sbeeners code for the photo gallery (on this site).sbeener sets up an array with the photos in it and uses functions to load one photo from the array's position.I'm trying to add some AS in there that sets up an additional array (of text strings/captions) and then sets the index of that additional array to match the array of photos and loads the value from that array into a dynamic text box.So far I'm a little stumped on how to execute this.Maybe if we get it working we can update the tute on kirupa!

I often have the problem that after shifting my AS windows around some times the window becomes highter than my screenheight. The window can only be resized in height when dragging the bottom of the window. But as it is offscreen I can't resitze it. I have to load a new workspace or dock it on some small window group and then drag it away (works only with some windows).

I'm trying to sell this metronome: [URL]. I've submitted it to activeDen.com and it has been rejected for 'aesthetic reasons' I noticed when I double click the swf file it opens up in my web browser and it is enlarged to fill the screen. This is bad since I use jpeg images instead of vector art and I do not like the Allow Smoothing option in flash since it blurs the image a little. So is there a way to make my swf file show up correctly?

I have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.
Here is the code I am using to get the .txt files:

Just as the title says. Specifically Im trying to make good use of some error messages by populating them to a TextField.What I've done is to collect all the error messages in an array. I've been working on this for the better part of a day but I can't seem to get it to post as I'd like it. Im seeing the results but each result is in its own TextField. I really want them in one TextField that expands as they get added, each line being separated by a return '

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.

I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:

I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

I am using location.loadMovie("image 1.jpg") to load images into my site, seeing how these images are not within my swf. but externally stored they load when I goto the location in the timeline, not in the beginning of my swf file with the other content (after my preloader runs) is there a way to have a preloader show up ( I want to use load % and movie clip for preloader) and tell you how much is loaded so someone knows there is an image there that is being loaded and not just a blank screen?

I am trying to change information on my site using cue points in my video. My video is in a flash quiz and I am trying to change my objects such as an ad or photo with these cue points. In otherwords, when a video begins, or when a cue point is reached the photo outside the video would change. I am currently using cue points to go to the next frame after the video completes, but I don't know how to make it change things outside the video.

I already know that AS3 cannot retrieve mysql database information directly
so instead you have to access it with PHP print the contents into xml and have AS3 read the XML are there any other methods of doing it?

I have been importing illustrator .ai artwork into my project, and along the way, something wierd has happened with resizing stuff. If I am putting font iside a movieclip that is being used for a button, I can put the same size font into two different moviclips and they are different sizes. I somehow zero them out so they are 100% at the size I want or do I have to resize in another porgram and then reimport into Flash?Am I missing a magic button here?

I want to load information from a Text file and then want to use in action script as a variable.What I did. I make a file with the name Text.txt and write there TextFld=You are Good Boy In flash I make a getText.fla in which i build a Text box at stage and set it to dynamic and the name of this variable is also TextFld Instance Name is Txt. Write the following code at main timeline
loadVariables("Text.txt",_root);
pretty fine it shows this information in flash but i want to use this variable in action script to do more action i.e i want to make flashy text. I want to store this information in a variable and then use that variable for other purpose.

I'm wanting the top 10 scores to display for a game I'm working on. I'm having trouble getting the information to display in a dynamic text box. I've been working on this for 2 days looking at examples and haven't had any luck. I don't know how to get more than one result to show in a dynamic text fields variable. Right now I am getting it to display the very last name in my database. It seems like I'm close, but there needs to be some minor adjustments or something. Could someone give me a suggestion on how to fix this?

I want to read a text file that contains information for my game. I need to read chunks, and create the objects immediately and so on. How is the best way to do so, and is it possible to use some sort of location pointer so I won't have to go through the whole file every time I read a chunk?

I have an as3 game that I am trying to debug. To do this, I allow the game to play itself repeatedly over-night (which generates information for around 500k games) and then I analyze the info in the morning. I would like to save the debug info to a text file instead of using trace statements. Currently, the game creates about ten strings per play which are printed to the screen. Is there an easy way to save these strings to a text file?

For some reason, the data that is getting loaded into the text box is adding:

quite a bit of information. I'm not sure why. You can see it here... For some reason, its only doing it to one of the text boxes..
