Professional :: Getting Information From ID3 Tags From Streamed Mp3 Files In Flash CS4

I have spend my whole day trying to find a good way to access ID3 tags in AS3.0;In my project I am making a sound object and assigning it a URL: Then I stream the sound into a sound channel:[code]I want to read the ID3 tag somehow and display the artist name or anything in the ID3 tag, onto the screen.I Have the URL change through user input, and naturally I want to update all the information with the new ID3 tags information.[code]
I'm doing some crawling with Python, and would like to be able to identify (however mperfectly) the flash I come across - is it a video, an ad, a game, or whatever.I assume I would have to decompile the swf, which seems doable. But what sort of processing would I do with the decompiled Actionscript to figure out what it's purpose is?
i'm remodeling a website i've done ([URL]). i want to exchange information between XML and Flash files. i almost did it, but where shoul display information about one item, the whole content of this 'field' is shown. i'll explain better. this swf displays works of an artist. but the field 'date' (or any other text field) display the content of all works (separated by commas). i'll post the xml code and the actionscript code.
i'd like to know if its possible to save information obtained from users to files if the user is accessing the flash file from a cd. I would also like to know how it works if possible. And can the flash file be in .exe instead of .swf?
I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:

I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
I want to build a program built around my pc specs. Is there a way to access such information as how much ram I have or how much cpu usage is being consumed, etc.?
What I'm trying to do, is to get weather informations from a flash animation on a web page. I'd like to convert those informations into data for statistical purposes.
I want to read a text file that contains information for my game. I need to read chunks, and create the objects immediately and so on. How is the best way to do so, and is it possible to use some sort of location pointer so I won't have to go through the whole file every time I read a chunk?
I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
i am making a quick and dirty flash help source for my companies site. Later on i will tweak I will pretty it up. I am going with two movie clips that i believe will be sufficient for now as seen the layout below....[code]....
MC_1 :Is the selection menu.I want to import from a text file the different help sections or catagories....eg.. Setup, Administration, Customizing, etc......Then i want to import from text files that are labelled and corrisponding to each section that will list the actual different help selections...eg..(Setup) would have sub menu options of System Requirements,Server Install, Client Install.I would have these sub menus in listed in different text files for each section heading.
MC_2 :Then when somene clicks on the submenu options like 'Server Install' in the given example Movie Clip 2 would import from yet another text file the actual help information in an HTML format
Questions:For MC_1 I am not sure how I should go about creating it!I assume I will be creating a MC inside of it, one for each variable it pulls in from the Header.txt file.....how do i do that when the number of variables can change?And then it will pull in and create the sub menus one for each variable that it finds in its own text file, again the number can change?From there i should have no problems having the sub menu, when clicked on, would pull the text info in html format into MC_2.
I am constructing a Flash animation and I was hoping to build it by scenes. These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?
I have been trying to figure out how you could add in custom attribute tags that flash can recover.
EX: <param name = "movie" value = "somefile.swf"> <embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400">
Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".
The flash movie then:
1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.
2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".
3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.
4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.
Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.
So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.
I don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.
I bought a template, made some changes, published it and upload it on FTP. But each time I do a search, one one the search results is one of the orignal page names. Any tips on how to change it?
I am using location.loadMovie("image 1.jpg") to load images into my site, seeing how these images are not within my swf. but externally stored they load when I goto the location in the timeline, not in the beginning of my swf file with the other content (after my preloader runs) is there a way to have a preloader show up ( I want to use load % and movie clip for preloader) and tell you how much is loaded so someone knows there is an image there that is being loaded and not just a blank screen?

I have a question and would like some help with creating a flash gallery but for showing information rather than pictures. I will try to make this as clear as possible but if its confusing please let me know and I will give more details.
Basically I trying to make a vertical timeline on the lefthand side with years (in text) which expand slightly on mousover and when clicked show the relavent information on the righthand side for that year.I can't seem to get the text to expand on mouseover?
I am trying to change information on my site using cue points in my video. My video is in a flash quiz and I am trying to change my objects such as an ad or photo with these cue points. In otherwords, when a video begins, or when a cue point is reached the photo outside the video would change. I am currently using cue points to go to the next frame after the video completes, but I don't know how to make it change things outside the video.
I have been importing illustrator .ai artwork into my project, and along the way, something wierd has happened with resizing stuff. If I am putting font iside a movieclip that is being used for a button, I can put the same size font into two different moviclips and they are different sizes. I somehow zero them out so they are 100% at the size I want or do I have to resize in another porgram and then reimport into Flash?Am I missing a magic button here?

I need to create a progress bar for my streaming video to let the user know how much of the video has already been downloaded/streamed. Making a progress bar for a progressive download is easy, just check the bytesLoaded vs the bytesTotal. But apparently with a streaming video those do not work. What exactly do I need to check in order to create a progress bar for a streaming video. Here is my sample code that doesn't work for the progress bar.
I'd like to make a preloader for a flv playback, so while waiting for the video to load, you can have the preloader. What I did was put the flv playback inside a movie clip, which has as the first frame the preloader and as the second frame the flv playback (which I call as instance myVid). But it doesn't work, it stays in the first frame with the bar loaded and never goes to the second with the movie clip. Maybe I shouldn't use the normal code I use to make a preloader for a whole site. Can anyone help? I attach the code I use for the preloader.
I have Flash Media Server, and I think it's free edition coz i dont input serial number when i installed it..I have problem to have people stream from my pc, there's a public IP address assigned/mapped to a development PC here..I'm able to stream it locally from my computer, fyi, my computer is using windows XP and the development PC is using windows 2003 server..and there's an apache webserver already installed there..
1. if i dont install the apache server bundled with the FMS, is it okay? I dont intend to stream through port 80...
2. what is the difference between port 1935 and 19350? I saw 2 files in the FMS directory, namely fms.ini and Adaptor.xml in fms.ini it binds to 1935, but in adaptor.xml it binds to 19350...
there's an explanation in above it that it binds to some ip we configure here, but if you wanna bind to any ip then omit the localhost and leave it like ":19350" my question is that is this necessary to do so in order for people outside our network to connect the development PC ?
4. about security at the proxy server or ISP, I've confirmed with my boss that he's opened the port 1935 to be allowed, and he's also confirmed with the ISP that they dont block port 1935..
Im trying to capture mic data from a swf, stream it to adobe flash media server, and save it as a wav file. Currently I can only stream the mic data to the server and save it in FLV format. how I can covert it to a WAV or save it as a WAV?
I am loading various movies into a "shell"movie as and when they are needed using loadMovie... However I have one movie which I am loading in to the shell "holder" movie which is supposed to load in variables from a php file. Now when this swf file is run in the browser outside of the shell, it loads in all the variables just fine. The loadVariablesNum command loads into "0" the root timeline, but when I run the shell and navigate to the swf file, none of the variables appear.I am guessing I need to load the variables into 'this' movie, but I have tried that by using the complete path...
But this doens't pick up the vars. My problem is I am not fully understanding the relationship between swf's loaded into each other and how the timelines interact...
