Can you take a url variable and have that variable be the value for the source parameter of the video playback component in flash CS4 or CS5?

Can we put [Bindable] on functions/methods? I know that bindable is used to change the value of the source property to destination property. But not sure if we can use that for methods. why we cannot put/ if we can then what will be the outcome?

I am presuming this is because the image hasn't finished reading the png file off the disk yet. What event can I monitor to know when it's width and height will have the right values? The 'Complete' event only seems to work for DOWNLOADED images. The 'Render' event happens EVERY FRAME. The (undocumented?) 'sourceChanged', happens as soon as source changes, and has the same problem! What event do I watch that will let me know when the image's width and height properties will have valid values? Or is there some Synchronous version of I.source='xxx.png', that I don't know about?
P.S. Yes, I know I shouldn't use "C:" in an Air Program. This was just for illustrative purposes, so that you won't suggest I use "Complete", which never even seems to fire when the file indicated by source is local.

How to load variables from an external source? For example, Lets say I have a movieclip that contains 6 keyframes, and I want flash to load the proper keyframe when the main swf is opened. Flash knows what the proper keyframe is, because that variable is stored in a MySQL database, or txt file, or xml file, or whatever. Also, how could i have flash write to an external file, so that i can save the changes.

In my case, it's a local file. I would need to detect the original width and height of the input source video (an h264 f4v).
I'm basically looking for something that can play/stream a variety of formats if possible (or if not, to have an easy way for non-technies to convert them to the desired format). I'm also looking for something easy to setup - like including a javascript tag at the top of the page and then perhaps using a div, or just 1 line of script code to make it work. I am stuck in custom video player for a long time. The original example of the thumbnail buttons are jpg image. They work. However, instead of stable place of the thumbs, I changed the thumbs to swf file with motion.

I already have the encoder, FMS, and my AIR application all talking, so that portion is going well.The problem that I want to tackle next though is to have the FMS server record the live stream to it's hard drive. All of the guides that I've found talk about how to make a DVR stream, but that's not what I want. I want to be able to have the live stream, and then separately I would like to have it recorded.

View 7 RepliesI am using Flash Media server 4.5 and i read the tutorial if i want to stream the live feed, i may need to use the media live encoder.
but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.
You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server. I have movieclip buttons that when you click on them take you to external url's
When I upload the files to a webserver then it works perfect. However when I try to run the files locally the movieclip buttons dont seem to work (when you click on them they dont take you to the required url).
The strange thing is that if I make one of the url's for example "C: est" then this appears to work when I test it localy but will not go to "www.google.com".

I am a programmer who is working with a client's flash designers. Most of my client's personnel have CS3. I recently upgraded to CS5 due to another contract that I am working on for a different client. Will I be able to modify my CS3 designer's .fla file, save and hand back to them to finish designing?? Will they be able to open up my modified document?
View 1 RepliesI am working on text adventure game which will have at least a few components (a text area for narrative and text input for user input) on the stage at all times. Therefore, I have created those components statically through Flash's WYSIWYG design environment. I gave them instance names "myTA" and "myTI" respectively. I was able to get my main class (the document class for the stage) to interact with them (dynamically adding text one character at a time like a typewriter at runtime), but other classes in the same package don't seem able to recognize the stage components. Below is the relevant code:
