I am working on a text design appication in which i have to design the different type of text style with action script 2.0. I have achived most of them, but there are some word art type of design of the text.Following is the image of the shape required.

I am having a few problems atm with flash and wondering whether I am asking too much from flash or whether I am being stupid. Basically what I am trying to achieve is a box that is 300px by 300 px, within that box I have some text that I would like to place inside. As I would like to be able to regularly update this box (its a news feed) I have linked it too a .txt file. The problems that I have come across is that flash seems to have a limit on the amount of text it will allow in a dynamic text field. As even tho I have more text in my txt document, its is not displayed. This is how I have come to the presumtion that flash must be limiting the amount of text.
View 12 RepliesAll I want to do is have a word start as a normal word, and then distort into a U shape, like the word is smiling. I've been googling and tutorialing and all I have come up with is breaking the word up and then using the distort tool, but it distorts every corner of every letter, isn't there a way to distort the whole word just a little? Also, when I "create shape tween" the text dissapears and when I "create motion tween" it needs to turn into a graphic so then I cant even use the distortion tool. What do I do?

Whenyou highlighted a word in the past such as "null" it use to pull upthe word and the info in all the books. Now all I see is a webbrowser that doesn't do this for me. View 10 RepliesI am attemping to shape tween text. (Flash CS5.5)
What I'm doing is:
Create frame at frame 1 Insert text Insert keyframes at two different points down the time line Change the last frame to what I want it to morph INTO Break apart all keyframes, and Insert shape tween in between the first and second, and second and third keyframes.
When I go to play the movie, it flashes the text that is in the last frame ONLY.
Whenever I add shape hints to a shape tween the shape disappears in the between frames. I am using CS5 on Vista. I using files from [URL]to practice.

View 2 RepliesI'm using the tutorials on [URL] to show me how to work through things. However, when I am trying to type text using the TFL setting, I get nothing but a blue box. I open a blank file, select the Text tool. It comes up with the cross-hair the a small capital T to the bottom right. I click on the stage to make the text box from the dotted lines/marching ants, then as soon as I let go, it snaps to the top left corner as a blue box. And every time I repeat this,each subsequent box snaps to the top left corner. When I click the selection tool, and make a box around the corner, all the different blue boxes I made fro my text tool is shown, but I still can't type even a single letter!

View 5 RepliesI want to use the UI Text Scroll component on a text box. When I make the initial text box,it is the normal 1 line in depth, based on the font size. When I paste the type into the box it gets very long, which is fine, but when I try to make the text box smaller using the transform tool so that I can make it fit the movie, it makes the type smaller as well. Is there a way to change the height of the box, without it effecting the text inside?

What i want to do is create a tween whereby one of the points is movedthe problem is you have to convert to a symbol first and after you have done that you cant change the shapes shape.so how do i go about using a motion tween to change the shape of a shape?
I used to have a little text panel (that sat with the color, swatches, and align panels) that I was able to open up and edit text size, color, underline, etc with. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

I am now trying to enhance some of the features.I would like to see if I can display one letter of each word so the Player has a hint. Think of this as a beginners level.The words are random from a text list. Either I can make the letters invisible and the game starts without a hint or I am able to select a letter using charAt() or creating a new variable substring()from the word which is the displayed repeatedly on the stage(not what I want) I have not been able to find a way to display one letter and display it in the correct order within the word and keep the remaining letters invisible.

View 9 RepliesI am doing drag-the-word quiz. When you match the word with correct part, the message pop out, saying Bingo! If the word is matched with wrong part, the "Sorry. Try Again" message pops out, says "Sorry. Try Again". I managed to make the "Sorry. Try Again" message disappear. However it dun work anymore after that. Sometimes it is quite funny. When I play it, the "Sorry. Try Again" message dun pop out at all.
Another problem - I am not sure how to make the word fit into the white box. I only know how to make the word drop on the white box. Can you tell me how to do it? I will be adding voiceovers to the quiz when the word is matched with the part. For e.g it will say "bingo" or "Sorry. Try Again". How to attach the voiceovers to it?

View 3 RepliesI`m interpreting a large piece of MS Word text into movie shorts I mean to organize into an interactive `newspaper` style presentation that can be perused online. With `web-presentation`, I`m a true novice; so my first crucial question is: How, or can, I import text from MS Word into a Flash Film/Presentation, with all its fonts+colours intact? My rusty logic is that D-Weaver seems kinder to importing text, but is designed to make websites; I only want to make web-presentations, which I assume can inhabit websites such as MySpace.

View 1 RepliesIs Flash a part of Captivate or do I need it to be able to put interactive quizzes into a document. It sort of sounds like Captivate 5.5 is all that I would need. My basic task is to take a PDF file and/or a MS word document and add interactive quiz questions to the document. I don't even need to record them to a database. I have been trying to learn what a bunch of these Adobe products are and what they do and don't do for over a week and finally I got some real help in this forum this morning.
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a little game. The machanics are fine, but I'm curious on the best way to work the "cut scenes" between the action. This will involve some "text bubbles" for the conversations.
I guess there are several ways to do this. I could actually make frames for each conversation frame, leaving the text drawn on each frame. I'm tending towards this method, as I can see it all as it should be layed out.
Is it worth it trying to store all the text in a sperate file that is called upon when the text is needed? I have seen this done in many other games (non-flash), but in those games there is quite a lot of text.
Is there a feature in Flash that allows you to export content into Word. I know that Captivate has this feature, but was unaware that Flash did until someone mentioned it recently.
View 5 RepliesI have is Adobe fl CS4. I succussfully created a scene with all correct layers including a start button action script. No errors works great. Now my next challenge is, how do I cause a word to apear? I created some objects that I want to select and cause a word to appear and color to change, once I hover over the object. It is like the same method when you create a 'start button.' Do I create another sub scene in the action script command?
