I have a logo which animates one time and stops. What I would like is, it should loop every 5 seconds interval. The following is the action scipt 3 written in the flash document.

I am trying to create a Flash file that will export a JPEG file for a certain number of files, using Quasimondo's BitmapExporter class.
I can get it to successfully export 1 image, but I have a problem getting it to export an image for each element in the loop.
I need to pause the script (with an interval perhaps?) to allow the export to finish, then continue and do the same for every element in the loop. (in this case 5 times).

Just wondering how to make my interval start when I want it to because im trying to delay a function but i only want that interval to work when the code is being executed so i would have to add some kind of 'start delay' code inside the function.

I want to remove the appropriate child (e.currentTarget) and create a new child in its place with the next line, but it doesn't work. What do?
I'm creating buttons like so:

This creates 4 movieClips with the names "link0", "link1", etc. How do I remove them? I try this:
box.boxMC.linksMC.removeChild(myLink);
But it just removes the last one made (link3). How do I have all of them removed?

View 1 RepliesI have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. View 6 RepliesI have a parent swf which loads many child swfs (though only one is displayed at a time). My intention was to use the loaded SWFs document class to retrieve an array of objects to be assigned a tab index, combine this with the parent's own array of objects and apply sequential tab indices to them all. But what happens is actually that the parent's objects are assigned an index, but the external swf is unaffected. In fact, the external swf retains its automatic tab indexing, when I would expect that having set a value for InteractiveObject.tabIndex, automatic tab indexing would be disabled.
I've seen similar tales elsewhere. Most posts I've read are wanting to load an external swf, give it focus and loop through those objects, then close the swf and return to looping through the parent. However I would like loop through all objects as one. including manipulating the focus manager(s), and basically fiddling with every tab-related property I know.

It dies every time on that last line. How do I refer to that vidThumbn instance so I can add the imageLoader? I don't know what I'm missing. It feels like it should work.
I have a flash homepage using xml with different pages placed on different frames. I want to add an xml photogallery on frame 4 so that it only appears on that page on the homepage. The photogallery is made in another flash also using xml. When i try to load the gallery it either appears on all pages or on none at all. what code can i use to make the gallery load on fram 4 in my flash.

I am trying to retrive the ARCHIVE String, but can't seem to do that, without also getting the <level3>COLOR</level3> node. I am doing this like this: _
xmlData.navigation.level1.level2[0], which returns this:
ARCHIVE
<level3>COLOR</level3>
How do I get it to where it only returns the ARCHIVE?
I have added an on click event to a child object which is not always displayed Its pearent object also has on click events. There are two problems.
1) Whenever I click on the child object the pearents onclick behavior also runs. I do not want this to happen.
2)The child object can be clicked on even if i set its alpha to 0, or set its display property to false or send it to the back of the stage. This means its behavior can be invoked by the user even if it is not visiable I dont want the child object to be clickable when it is not dispayedI dont want the pearent object to be clickable through the child object
Does anyone know the actionscript 3.0 parameters in removing the child within a movieclip? This is my scenario:
1. I have two (2) languages which play on the main timeline. Each languages are movieclips.
2. I have a movieclip which has buttons. These buttons are added dynamically using "stage.addChild(main_menu)"
3. I have a go back button together with the main timeline. How can remove a child on a timeline? For example when I choose the language A: it will play through by a movieclip and the buttons will be added dynamically [the dynamically added buttons are inside this movieclip; also the AS3 is inside that movieclip]. I wanted to remove the added child when the go back button is pressed and return to certain frame on the main timeline. The go back button is not included in the said movieclip--it is within the same timeline of languages and I wanted the script to be on the main timeline.
I have a movieclip that contains a second movie clip. This inner movie clip is being animated so that it's transparency gradually fades in. If you go into this inner clip, in addition to all the objects that make it up, there's a layer of text. I want to be able to place multiple instances of the parent clip on the main timeline so that each of them are identical except for the text that exists in the child movie clip, ie. I want to be able to customise this inner text.Is this possible to do? I mean if I place a number of instance on the root timeline and change the text of each of these instances, will they remain unique
View 3 RepliesOn stage I have 2 objects on stage that share the base-class of "ABaseClass". Each has a child object that shares the base-class of "AnotherBaseClass". They child objects do not share the same parent, and have unique Linkage identifiers of "Object2Design" and "Object1Design", so they should be able to share the same name on the display-list, right? But if these child objects share the same name I get the following error. How to allow child objects to share base-classes and names?

I have a movie clip of all counties in the state of Montana (allcnt_mc). Within allcnt_mc there are individual movie clips specific to each county with name equal to the county's name. When clicking on a county, I'd like to zoom to that county and center the stage on it. I've added event listeners to all counties through querying an xml table that has demographic info I am calling into dynamic text boxes. Here is the code I have thus far to load the xml and add the listeners to the county movie clips.

I've been working on an interactive map of the counties in Montana. When a user clicks on a county, I'd like the map to zoom to the county's extent and center it on the stage. Every county is a child of a larger container (the state, names allcnt_mc). I've set things up in my function so that when you click on a county POINT variables with all the numbers you need are created. I just cannot get the desired effect and I think I am missing something basic in regards to the geometry of my stage. Can anyone see something I am missing? I set this up so that the parent is tweened to a new location equal to stage center minus the called child's x,y distance from stage center. Essentially, this should center the child over the stage center, no?

I've created a map of Montana counties. Each county is a seperate MC withing the larger parent clip (allcnt_mc). When a county is clicked on, I'd like to center that county on the stage and zoom to its extent. The challenging part has been telling the parent (allcnt_mc) where to tween to. Since each individual county is a child of the parent, they have their own coordinate space referencing that of the parent.
Is there a way I can query the location (x,y) of a child in the parent's coordinate space? With this number, I could calculate the distanct between the parent's current reg. point and that of the child, indicating the distance that the parent would have to move to be centered on the stage. I was trying to use localToGlobal but could not figure out how to use it.

Imagine the following setup. The main swf loads a child swf.In AS2 i would simply use _parent or _root to call the desired function. How can that be done in AS3?Can this still be done? Can I call a function on the main swf from the loaded one? How about the other way around, this time, from main to loaded swf?

But I can't find their download sample And, they say click on Frame-1 and press F9 then put code snippit in after line 7 But, I see no Action Script when I click on Frame 1 and press F9... a window opens but no code appears...just a long menu on the left.
I recently modified a single page website for a family member (for fun).
